Rust Free Southern Car, T-tops, Power Locks, Windows And Driver's Seat on 2040-cars
Knoxville, Tennessee, United States
Up for sale is a 1987 Buick Grand National. It has 141k miles but is in very good condition given the mileage. It has factory T-Tops and power locks and windows. It is in good, rust free condition but has small scratches and paint chips. The car spent most of its life in Florida, then North Carolina, which is where I bought it from. It looks good, but I would consider it to be a 5-10 footer. I planned on getting it painted to bring it to "show quality" condition but given my current priorities, I won't be able to do that for a long time, which is why I'm selling it. I will miss it dearly. It is in good mechanical condition and has been well maintained. It runs perfectly, is a comfortable cruiser and is fast too! I had the air conditioning serviced/charged last year and it worked great, but after sitting, it's not cooling again, so it must have a slow leak. There are a host of new or newer performance upgrades (listed below) that were chosen to improve the performance without affecting normal drivability in any way. I've included some photos, I can take more if you'd like. I will include everything below plus a big box of stock parts. -----I will be adding more photos in the next day or two----- Body / Exterior Stock exterior with T-Tops Rear X braces Tinted windows Engine / Transmission Stock 3.8 liter V6 engine 60 lb/hr fuel injectors TurboTweak chip Comp Cams 980 valve springs RJC Power Plate H&R PartsNstuff motor mounts Precision Stock Location Intercooler Walbro high pressure in-tank fuel pump with rewire kit Accufab rising rate fuel pressure regulator Hallman ES manual boost controller AlkyControl progressive alcohol injection system using a Coolingmist VC-II Controller LS1 Mass Airflow Sensor & MAF Translator K&N air filter with 3" intake pipe Precision TE-44 Turbocharger GBodyParts.com 3" downpipe. 2.5" Hooker cat-back exhaust system Custom flanged off-road pipe Rebuilt transmission with shift improver kit PTC 10 inch 2800rpm lockup torque converter B&M Supercooler transmission cooler Metco driveshaft loop Stock, rebuilt posi-traction rear differential New F-body radiator, 160 degree thermostat radiator hoses and G-Body parts silicone coolant hoses Many other small maintenance items like brakes, spark plugs, fuel filter, new vacuum lines, valve cover gaskets, etc. Interior ScanMaster 2.1 Innovate wideband O2 sensor Coolingmist VC-II digital progressive alcohol injection controller/boost gauge Wheels/Tires Suspension 16x8 American Racing "GNX style" black mesh/chrome wheels Kuhmo ECSTA Tires KYB shocks 2" drop front spindles UMI Performance upper and lower rear control arms Also have stock GN wheels with new street tires in the front and new Mickey Thompson Drag Radials in the rear (see pictures) Thanks for viewing and let me know if you have any questions. Buick really wants us to know the new Cascada convertible won't leak
Thu, Apr 16 2015Quality testing on the factory floor is nothing to joke about. Automakers need to make sure the work being done is up to snuff, and that means some extensive checks. For Buick, that means using a lot of water for each of its Cascada convertibles. Each vehicle that rolls off the floor is subject to a high-pressure, ten-minute soaking that sprays nearly 20 gallons of water from each nozzle during every bath, just to guarantee the fabric roof hasn't sprung any leaks. For some reason, Buick has chosen to show off this testing with the help of what we imagine is the Gorton's Fisherman's baby cousin. Check out the strange testing video, available up top.
Movie Review: Black Air: The Buick Grand National Documentary
Thu, 06 Dec 2012As Buick currently claws and scratches its way back into relevance to compete against luxury brands like Lexus and Acura, it's hard to believe that not too long ago, the brand had a car that was mentioned in the same breath as Corvette, Lamborghini and Ferrari. That car? None other than the Buick Grand National. All black with a turbocharged V6 and some of the quickest acceleration of its time, the Grand National, in today's standards, is along the lines of a 2013 Shelby GT500 with both cars essentially being a working man's supercar.
The last Grand National rolled off the assembly line in Flint, MI on December 11, 1987, and to mark the silver anniversary of that somber occasion, Black Air is a documentary of the Grand National from the perspective of the enthusiast, the collector, the media and even from those at General Motors responsible for creating such a sinister legend. Like the car itself, Andrew Filippone Jr. shoots the documentary in a raw fashion, and it definitely helps to show why a low-volume muscle car from the 1980s is still the object of obsession for many automotive enthusiasts to this day.
GM veteran Bryan Nesbitt tapped to head Buick design
Sat, Jun 6 2015General Motors styling veteran Bryan Nesbitt (pictured above) took over a new role on Monday as executive director of global Buick design and global architectures. Andrew Smith, who previously did that job and also coordinated the look for Cadillac, has remained in charge of the pen at Caddy with this shift. Nesbitt rose to prominence when he designed the Chrysler PT Cruiser, according to Automotive News. He joined GM in 2001 and has been there ever since in multiple high-level roles. In 2007, he was appointed vice president of design for North America and was later briefly general manager of Cadillac in 2009-2010. Nesbitt took over as the vice president of GM's international operations design in China in 2011. This shuffle also moves Ken Parkinson, currently styling boss for Chevrolet trucks, to China as design vice president there. In addition, John Cafaro becomes the person in charge of the look for Chevy globally, rather than previously splitting that role between cars and trucks with Parkinson. GM Global Design Leadership Changes – effective June 1, 2015. Bryan Nesbitt, Design Vice President, GM China will repatriate to North America and assume the position of Executive Director, Global Buick and Global Architectures. He will be located in Warren, MI. Bryan will be the design Champion for Buick in the US and China. Ken Parkinson, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Trucks and Global Architecture will assume the position of Design Vice President, GM China. He will be based in Shanghai, China. Andrew Smith, Executive Director, Global Cadillac and Buick Design will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Cadillac. He will continue to be the design Champion for the Cadillac brand. In addition, he will continue to lead the Global Color & Trim team. He will be based in Warren, Michigan. John Cafaro, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Cars will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Chevrolet. He will be the design Champion for Chevrolet. In addition, John will lead the exterior components and accessories team. He will continue to be based in Warren, MI. The roles and responsibilities of Helen Emsley, Mark Adams, Carlos Barba, Clay Dean, Michael Simcoe, and Teckla Rhoades remain the same.
