Historic Rare & Extremely Low Miles Original Paint Interior Drivetrain 11sec Car on 2040-cars
Moorestown, New Jersey, United States
Up for sale is my 1986 Buick Grand
National with 8,361 miles and the original paint, interior, engine, trans and
front tires. This is one of the lowest mileage Grand Nationals
you will ever find. I am the second owner. I bought it MAR 2006 when
it had 6,492 miles on it. I put 1,100 miles on it the first two years and
added the remaining 750 miles over the past six years. I change the oil
& lube the chassis every fall with Castrol GTX and a Delco filter. I drive it during the spring through fall in the
morning or at dusk. After she cools down I dust her off and spray polish
the exterior then cover her back up with a dust cover in the garage.
Before getting parked for the winter she gets a top off with 93 octane and fuel
stabilizer. In the spring she gets a can of octane booster. The car
sits on a trickle charger when not in use. Battery was replaced ~ NOV 2013 due
to a bad cell. Car runs strong, doors have that new car closing sound and
the A/C is cold. Freon was switched to R-134 when I bought it in 2006.
1986 had a production run of ~ 5,000 units vs the ~ 20,000 units in 1987. The original owner of the car is a friend of my father's from high school. He worked for GM and bought the GN from Dearden Buick in Langhorne, PA. He had a car collection of ~ 12 cars in a 100' long pole barn. In 2006 he was selling his house and cars to move to another state and sold her to me.
What was done...that I know of. The original owner did not do any internal engine mods. Everything was bolt-on. The original inter cooler and emissions gear are in a box and come with the car. I have to look to see if the original turbo is in the box.
Original Window Sticker, owner’s manual, warranty book included Copy of
original title included
Total base 1986 was: $14,153 Codes on Window Sticker:
After adding the mods and tuning, the original owner trailered the car to Atco Raceway (Southern
NJ) for a private rental and on the 1st or 2nd pass it hit the expected
ETA. Total passes on the car are no more than six to dial-in the tune with the fastest being 11.962 @ 113.02 mph with 1.701 60 ft on drag radials. I am including the time slip. The car was tuned to run 11.6's with slicks. She wears street radials
now and never had slicks on due to the fact slicks will destroy a rear. No roll bar is in the car or has ever been installed. Assuming a 200 lb driver and 3500 lb vehicle, to hit a 11.6-11.9 sec time @ 113-119 mph requires 425 - 470 HP at the rear wheels. There is minor etching in the door paint under the side moldings and along the trunk edge (1980’s GM products had horrible original paint). I have taken photos to document this. Car has been in a garage for 28 years so it could be a lot worse. It is only original once. When I was swapping garages last fall, I noticed around the driver’s coat hook in the back the headliner has started to sag. There are a few small sags on the left rear side along with the sun visors showing signs of the headliner glue failing. It decided to leave it alone to further keep it original. Pictures document these. No matter how many times I buff the plastic bumper to body inserts the fade always comes back. This is just a product of 28 year old plastic. It is not cracked…just keeps fading. Pictures document it. I will be available to show the car locally within a reasonable distance and time. Car is located near Moorestown, NJ 08057 zip code (across from Philadelphia, PA). Buyer is responsible to ship the car from my place to their destination. I will work with the buyers transportation company to move the car to a nearby location (an open parking lot) for them to load. Car has a clean title. By bidding, the buyer understands and agrees the car is sold as-is…where-is…no warranties are expressed or implied. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is also for sale locally. Send me a message via ebay with any questions. Send me your phone number or personal email if you want to discuss the car or need more photos taken. |

Cadillac and Buick boost GM's return to growth in China
Mon, Oct 12 2020BEIJING — General Motors on Monday said continued market recovery from the COVID-19 crisis helped its China vehicle sales grow 12% on year in July-September, marking the Detroit automaker's first Chinese quarterly sales growth in two years. The second-biggest foreign automaker in China by units — after Germany's Volkswagen AG — said on Monday it had delivered 771,400 vehicles in China in the third quarter. That followed a 5% fall in the second quarter, when parts of China were still emerging from virus-busting lockdown measures. GM has a Shanghai-based joint venture with SAIC making Buick, Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles. It has another venture, SGMW, with SAIC and Guangxi Automobile Group, producing no-frills minivans and which has started manufacturing higher-end cars. Sales rose 26% for cars under its mass-market Buick brand in the third quarter versus the same period a year earlier, while those of premium brand Cadillac jumped 28%, GM said in a statement. Sales of its mass-market Chevrolet marque fell 20%. Sales of no-frills brand Wuling grew 26%, whereas those of mass-market Baojun vehicles tumbled 19%. "GM's compact models returned to four-cylinder engines and that helped sales growth," said LMC Automotive senior analyst Alan Kang, referring to an attempt to market cleaner but noisier three-cylinder versions. "Cadillac also has a more complete lineup this year." China's biggest automakers' association expects overall car sales to grow by double digits in July-September versus a year earlier. Makers such as Toyota, Honda and Geely saw sales jump in the just-finished quarter. GM has seen its China sales suffer in a crowded market and slowing economy. To revive its fortunes, it plans to have electric vehicles (EVs) make up over 40% of new models in the next five years in China, where the government promotes greener cars. The automaker's Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV, a micro two-door EV with a starting price of 28,800 yuan ($4,200), was China's biggest-selling EV in August. GM's sales fell 15% in 2019 from a year earlier to 3.09 million vehicles. The automaker delivered 3.65 million vehicles in 2018 and 4.04 million in 2017. Related Video:
OnStar RemoteLink mobile app coming standard on all new GM vehicles
Thu, 06 Jun 2013As an evolution and improvement of its OnStar technology, General Motors has announced that it will be expanding the RemoteLink Mobile App on most 2014 model year Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles. The new, aptly named RemoteLink Key Fob Services will allow users to remotely operate all of the same systems as the car's key fob, including locking and unlocking the doors and remote starting (on vehicles equipped with a factory remote starter) using a smartphone.
These Key Fob Services will be free for five years - starting from the vehicle's delivery date - but the full suite of RemoteLink features will continue to be offered only with a subscription (trial or paid). These premium features include contacting a live adviser, getting turn-by-turn directions and remotely monitoring the vehicle's diagnostic systems.

MotorWeek remembers the nearly forgotten Buick Reatta
Thu, Feb 18 2016The Reatta was Buick's failed experiment to take on European competitors with its own two-seat luxury coupe and convertible. The model only lasted a few years, and US customers didn't see another droptop from the brand until the Cascada. The latest MotorWeek Retro Review takes a look back at the short-lived roadster and remembers it quite fondly. Host John Davis calls the 1990 Reatta droptop "one of the best looking convertibles ever." His sentiment seems a little hyperbolic, but the roadster is definitely an attractive machine by the standards of the time. The smooth front end and pop-up headlights are reminiscent of Japanese sports cars of era, and the profile with the top down is elegant. There are weaknesses, though. The manual roof mechanism appears cumbersome to operate, and the crude digital instruments, which simulate physical dials, make the cabin look too dated. Other than a complaint about over-boosted power steering, MotorWeek enjoys how the Reatta drives, too. Buick's roadster is largely forgotten today, but such glowing praise suggests it deserves to be better remembered. Check out this Retro Review to look back on this interesting experiment from the early '90s. Related Video:
