1982 Buick Grand National on 2040-cars
Alburtis, Pennsylvania, United States
Up for sale is a non-running 1982 Buick Grand National. I am
selling this car for my best friend. He passed away a few months ago and his
wife has asked me to sell his cars to help her financially. He was a Buick enthusiast
and I am selling 2 other cars and will be listing parts and other Buick related
items. The car is located in the 18011 zip code. I would prefer local
pick up since I do not live close to the location of the car. Here is the
summary of the car when he bought it on e-bay in August of 08 with a few edits.
If you have questions I will try to answer them the best I can but I do not
profess to know anything about Buicks or the condition of this car. This is a 1982 Buick Regal Grand National, equipped with a
non-turbo 4.1 v6. The car has a clean Pennsylvania title and is registered on
the Before Black website. The car is not running. Even though the engine and drivetrain
look to be complete I would expect the car would need a complete rebuild to see
it run and drive again. The car’s interior is in need of total restoration and
is dissembled and may not be complete. The body of the car is enacted but has
rust with some holes through the bottom of the doors, rear quarters and floors.
The frame is in good shape with no rot in the rear rails at all. The glass is
in good shape, it has its original spoiler, T-tops, GN badging, and Lear Siegler
seats. The radio and special dash applique are missing. This car is one of 216 Grand Nationals built in 1982 and can
make a great restoration. This vehicle is to be picked up only, either by the
purchaser or the shipping company you hire. The car is to be paid in full
within 7 days of auction end unless prior arrangements have been made. Since I
am not a professional seller or dealer I will not accept pay-pal only money
order or cash upon pick up. There is no warranty on this non-running car in need of
total restoration and I strongly encourage a physical inspection of the car to validate
and verify the accuracy of the description above. Thank You. |

Even if GM does close all 5 of those plants, it'll still have too many
Wed, Nov 28 2018DETROIT — General Motors' monumental announcement on Monday that it will close three car assembly plants and two powertrain plants in North America and slash its workforce will only partially close the gap between capacity and demand for the automaker's sedans, according to a Reuters analysis of industry production and capacity data. Sales of traditional passenger cars in North America have been declining for the past six years and are still withering. After GM ends production next year at factories in Michigan, Ohio and Ontario, it will still have four U.S. passenger-car plants — all operating at less than 50 percent of rated capacity, according to figures supplied by LMC Automotive. In comparison, Detroit-based rivals Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will have one car plant each in North America after 2019. The Detroit Three are facing rapidly dwindling demand for traditional passenger cars from U.S. consumers, many of whom have shifted to crossovers and trucks. Passenger cars accounted for 48 percent of retail light-vehicle sales in the United States in 2014, according to market researchers at J.D. Power and Associates. This year, sedans will account for less than a third of light vehicle sales. That shift in turn has left most North American car plants operating far below their rated capacities, while many SUV and truck plants are running on overtime. The collapse in passenger-car demand is a challenge for nearly all automakers in the United States, including Japan's Toyota and Honda, which have the top-selling models in the compact and midsize car segments. Toyota executives said last month they are evaluating the company's U.S. model lineup. But Toyota also plans to build compact Corolla sedans at a new $1.6 billion factory it is building in Alabama with partner Mazda. The obstacles facing GM in its plans to close more auto factories became apparent on Tuesday as U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to block payment of government electric vehicle subsidies to GM. While it is not certain that Trump unilaterally has the power to do that, he made it clear he intends to use his office to pressure the company to keep open a small car plant in Ohio that GM says will stop building vehicles in March.
Reuss says Cadillac CT6-based Buick could happen
Wed, Apr 15 2015Could the upcoming Cadillac CT6 and its Omega platform spawn a Buick variant? According to General Motors' product chief Mark Reuss, it could potentially be in the cards, but "not yet." "We're working on that," Reuss told Automotive News at the 2015 New York Auto Show. While there hasn't been a large, rear-drive Buick on dealerships since the Roadmaster in 1996, the company gave a big hint that it could head in that direction with the Avenir Concept, shown earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show. As Automotive News explains, a rear-drive Omega-platform Buick could be a real hit in China, where consumers buy 13 Buicks for every one Cadillac. That move would be a big help to GM's bottom line, too, as it'd significantly increase the Omega platform's economy of scale. If a large Buick based on the CT6 were to head to China, though, it likely wouldn't be a simple case of badge engineering (thank God). Reuss hinted to Automotive News that while the mixed-material construction of the CT6 platform "is very flexible," doing an "identical version of that platform or not is a different conversation." What are your thoughts? Should Buick adopt the Omega platform for an Avenir-based sedan? Should that vehicle be sold here in the US, or should it be a China-only offering? Have your say in Comments. GM will recall more than 3.3 million vehicles in China for suspension defect
Sat, Sep 29 2018BEIJING (Reuters) - General Motors' joint venture in China, Shanghai GM, will recall more than 3.3 million Buick, Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles stating Oct. 20 because of a defect with the suspension system, China's market regulator said on Saturday. GM Shanghai said in a text message to Reuters that the suspension arm may be deformed under extreme operating conditions, but there are no known casualties related to the issue. The recall includes cars produced between 2013 and 2018, the State Administration for Market Regulation said in a statement. GM will contact those affected and repair the vehicles free of charge, it said.
