I have a 1966 Buick Electra rare 2 door hardtop ,,most all of these cars were either 4 doors or convertibles ,I started the disassembly of the car and then a man walked up and bought my shop,,, just one of those days he had cash and I wont turn that down soooo here it is for sale
Solid car I took all the seats, carpet ( threw away),door panels(have), glass out of the car ,,I have All the chrome pieces in the trunk that I took off and wrapped up they each are marked on the back where they go on the car so there is no guessing
grill in good shape
tailights good
most all the chrome is there and in good shape just a few pieces missing
rear bumper gone I got one with the car when i bought it but I have since found out it doesnt fit if you want it take it
back window broken when I got it but I have one located and will give info where it is I just hadnt bought it yet
drivers window and windshield need replaced ( found on here on ebay no problem)
the old guy I bought the car from said he parked the car because the harmonic balancer "came apart" and thats the only reason he parked it but upon further investigation after purchase the balancer broke and also broke the timing chain cover housing (again found here on ebay about $150 for both parts )
the motor is a 445 wildcat that will need the carb rebuilt before trying to start but the motor turns freely by hand cranking no problem
has a few dents on one side where he backed his tractor into it
this was a complete car when I purchased it the only reason he sold it to me after 3 years of me asking is because his grandkids broke the drivers window and back window out in the shed it was sitting in so he finally gave in to sell it to me he was the original owner but I DO NOT HAVE A TITLE bill of sale only but its no problem to get a title in mississippi on a car this old
it was inside when I purchased it and has always been inside since I have had it so no rain on this one
I have $2,400 in it as it sets but I am realistic also

buyer must either pick up or arrange shipping at their cost I will help as much as possible

First 2013 Buick Encore TV ad features... dinosaurs

Thu, 14 Mar 2013

The whole "SUVs as dinosaurs" trope has become something of a threadbare cliché among auto writers, but that doesn't mean the wider world of consumers has caught on to the Jurassic nature of our line of thinking. That's what General Motors appears to be betting on, at least. Just check out Buick's first television spot for its 2013 Encore, the tiny crossover that is pushing the Tri-Shield into territories unknown while looking to outrun the brand's reputation as a refuge for elderly clientele.
Set to air this weekend on ESPN during the NCAA college basketball tournament, the ad plays up the Encore's maneuverability and surprising interior space by setting the baby Buick amongst a herd of lumbering CG dinosaurs created by Tippett Studio, the folks behind Hollywood blockbusters like Jurassic Park, Ted, and the Twilight series of films.
We can't help but snigger a little - while the Encore is indeed surprisingly roomy, nimble, and composed, our first drive found it to be glacially slow, too... not unlike a certain prehistoric race of animals. Check out the commercial below and judge for yourself.

2013 Buick Encore nets strong IIHS, NHTSA safety scores

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

After being crushed from every which way and rolled over like a labrador, the 2013 Buick Encore has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. To earn the accolade, a vehicle must achieve the highest rating of "Good" in each of the institute's four main crash tests: Front Moderate Overlap, Side, Rollover and Rear. The Encore aced those four tests with "Good" ratings, but missed out on the coveted Top Safety Pick+ designation by receiving a Poor rating in the institute's new Front Small Overlap test. To be named a Top Safety Pick+, the Encore would need to score at least an "Acceptable" rating in the new test, as well as "Good" in all four original crash tests.
Despite the miss, the Encore joins the Enclave, LaCrosse, Verano and Regal as Top Safety Picks all. If you count only the Encore with all-wheel drive, then all five Buicks have also earned five-star overall ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration, making Buick one of the few manufacturers to offer a full lineup with high scores from both safety rating organizations.
The front-wheel-drive Encore, despite performing equally as well as the all-wheel-drive version in NHTSA's crash tests, only earned four stars overall. As far as we can tell, the discrepancy between the two is because some safety equipment, like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Assist, are optional features on the FWD Encore and standard on the AWD model.

GM China President says automaker could export vehicles from China to US

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

At a press conference on Saturday at the Shanghai Motor Show, General Motors announced plans to further expand its presence in the Chinese market. Among those commitments are plans to build four new plants by the end of 2015, giving the automaker the capacity to produce around five million vehicles a year in the country.
In order to make the most of that expansion, GM is adding 400 dealerships in China this year alone (for a total of 4,200 sales points), and it's eyeing 5,100 dealers by 2015. Yet not all of that production will stay in China - GM is planning to increase exports as well. Officials estimate the company will export somewhere between 100,000 and 130,000 Chinese-built vehicles this year - a record. And it's gunning for more.
Autoblog asked GM China president Bob Socia (above) if that means the company might eventually export new vehicles built in China to the United States, and he responded:
