I have for sale a very good running and driving 1961 Buick Electra 225 Convertible. Fairly rare car. The car has a rebuilt (by the previous owner) original 401 Nailhead V-8 engine. The brakes are good and has good radial tires with correct hubcaps. In 1997-98 the motor was rebuilt, new top, new paint, rechromed front and rear bumpers. Lots of receipts for additional items replaced. The car has 63,154 original miles. The top is very nice and does work with a little help on the up swing. I'm pretty sure the pump only needs more fluid. The seats were also redone in '98 and are nice and very comfortable. The dash has cracks in the center. The door panels and rear seat quarters are in good shape. Carpet is decent but worn. Clear guages. Nice black top boot and car cover included.
The chrome and stainless is average but shine. The car needs painted and does have some paint bubbling. Some rust is showing along front fender upper horizontal trim as shown. The floors seem very solid when your heel is applied. Trunk floor has severe surface rust, but I have found no holes. The underside is very decent looking with some surface rust present.
The car does start right up and the 401 provides a smooth and powerful ride. The car has good acceleration and braking. The exhaust is good and the ride is pretty quiet.
The following are currently working: top, all 4 power windows, speedometer, fuel guage, the guages are reflected into an adjustable mirror so as to allow for taller and shorter drivers and is working, speed warning, radio, lights and taillights, courtesy lights, glovebox light, temp guage, day/night rearview mirror, all 4 turn signals front and rear and their dash indicators, headlights and highbeams. The following do not work: wipers, power seat, driver's master power window switch, horn. Both door sill replacements are included.
Overall, this is a very classy and fairly rare 60's convertible. The car is really long and low. At 225 inches long (that's where the 225 comes from), this '61 Buick is an impressive car indeed. Plenty of room for 5-6 joyriders. Be the only one at your car show with a 1961 Buick Electra 225 convertible!!
Please feel free to ask any questions. Car is sold in as-is condition. Personal inspection is encourged.

GM recalling 1.5M cars in China for faulty bracket
Fri, 27 Dec 2013General Motors and its Chinese partners have announced their second recall in the People's Republic this year, following a 2,653-unit recall of the Cadillac SRX earlier this year. This latest recall affects nearly 1.5 million cars built between 2006 and 2012. It's not explicitly stated, but as there's no movement from the US NHTSA, we suspect that the cars in question were all Chinese-built rather than imports.
The vast majority of the affected vehicles are Buick Excelles (pictured), with 1.2 million units being recalled over a faulty bracket that's meant to secure the fuel pump. The Excelles in question were built between 2006 and 2012, while an additional 250,000 Chevrolet Sail superminis, built between April 2009 and October 2011, are being recalled for a similar reason.
According to the PRC's Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the faulty bracket could crack and potentially cause a fuel leak.
Buick version of Equinox/Terrain CUV spied testing... with autonomous gear?
Wed, 12 Jun 2013Let's get the most pressing bits of this story out of the way right off the bat: What we see here appears to be a new compact crossover from Buick. According to the spy photographer, this machine may be a little bit smaller on the outside than the current Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain 'utes, which makes sense since recent rumors suggest GM's small crossovers will migrate to a new platform that will mark a convergence between the automaker's Delta (Chevy Cruze, Buick Verano) and Theta (Equinox, Terrain) platforms. This Buick would likely use this new D2UX platform.
We've been expecting Buick to unleash a crossover to slot between the very small Encore and the very large Enclave, and various rumors have indicated that the model may be known as either the Anthem or Envision. It's worth mentioning that Buick had planned, back in 2009, to release a vehicle in the compact CUV market, but abandoned those plans after a particularly poor reception.
And now for something completely different... Take another look at the spy shots above, and pay special attention to the cylindrical device mounted to the vehicle's roof. We can't say for sure what it is, but our spy photographer opines that it looks quite a bit like the 360-degree Lidar camera equipment used by Google for its autonomous cars. Is General Motors working with Google on autonomous car technology? We don't know, but you can definitely consider us intrigued.
Buick Envision CUV displays full-frontal nudity
Tue, 22 Jul 2014Earlier this month, Shanghai GM gave us a glimpse of the production version of the Buick Envision concept revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show back in 2011. And now it's released the first unveiled shot and initial details of the crossover to slot in the considerable gap between the Encore and Enclave.
The new Envision is set later this year to reach Chinese showrooms, where it will be called the Ang Ke Wei, after which we're expecting it to arrive Stateside. The production-ready Envision is about the size of the Chevrolet Equinox or GMC Terrain, but is differentiated by a more upscale treatment and Buick's signature waterfall grille, flanked by Xenon headlamps and LED running lights and riding on 19-inch wheels.
Power comes from GM's familiar 2.0-liter turbo four with direct injection and stop/start ignition, driving 256 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque through a six-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels. That's about all that GM's Chinese operation has announced at this point - it's not even clear what platform the vehicle is on - but you can check out the press release for yourself below.
