1998 Buick Century Custom Sedan 4-door 3.1l on 2040-cars
Cleveland, Ohio, United States
You are bidding on a 1998 Buick Century Custom (loaded), 4 door sedan. The car has 50,350 original miles, . It has a 3.1 Liter Engine with Automatic Transmission, 28-30+ MPG highway, ALL Accessories work like new. Car is all Power – Windows/Seats/ Door Locks. SUNROOF, AC (perfect), Premium Radio System, Cruise Control, Tilt Wheel, 2 working Remotes I will describe the car as accurately as possible, both for the average buyer and also the best I can for any special enthusiast/collector. Someone looking for a creampuff. My goal is to represent the car accurately. Take time to read this whole description and as questions are asked I no doubt will make added comments in the last paragraph of the description as the auction week proceeds. Nothing is better than you actually seeing the car for yourself or to see it via a representative. I am open to that option but will not be driving the car to any location or facility. The car has been garaged its entire life. The mock convertible type top is in excellent plus condition. There are no dents or what can be considered scratches on the car. I have had the car for the last 6 months, putting no miles on the car. The car was my elderly father-in-law’s car, he has passed and gave me the car. I simply am not driving the car and am in the process of downsizing the number of vehicles I own. The car has been garaged its entire life, never driven in snow, I don’t think it hardly has ever been rained on over the years. There is not one issue with the running or performance of this car. Mechanical I can provide you with the Ohio Emissions Certificate- Passed ( State of Ohio). The tires are close to new, the brakes also have very little wear. The car is very smooth and comfortable to drive. Accessories/Interior Electrically, the car has Power door locks, windows, seats, side- view mirrors. The headlights have a sharp clear glass which is result of it being garaged. All Accessories work perfectly, as all other lights: tail, brake, turn-signal, hazard, dash, console, inside courtesy, underhood, side marker, outside courtesy etc. The seats are a slate blue with a fleck in it with a soft but sturdy material (original). The seats are supportive but at the same time comfortable, virtually new and the back seat has probably not been used more than a few dozen times. There are no rips or tears or any signs of popped threads on the seats. What is important to note is that the car has a bench seat with column shift. This may seem dated a bit, but if you have a family or occasion to drive 6 people, it’s seat belted for Six ! Only 5 passengers ?, flip the Console down for the armrest and space. Body/Paint/Wheels The body has no dents, holes or damage to it. Nothing has been drilled or attached to the body. No accidents to my knowledge, again it is original. The paint condition overall is excellent. The car is very appealing in its appearance, good gloss and for the general eye the usual comment is that it looks sharp. Here is the most accurate description for blemishes, any discolorations etc. that I can note. Driver’s side very bottom edge of front fender just in front of door/ driver side bottom edge, just in front of rear wheel had been touched up. Standing back 3 or 4 feet and it is not seen, you have to look for it. where you like (garage etc.) I didn’t post pictures with the top off, since I had no one available to help lift off the top. It is advisable you always have someone to help , it is no problem at all (3-4 minutes) with a helper so you avoid scratching something. The wheels are the factory original(steel) with the center Buick Emblem ( see pics). They are clean and look good. There are no secrets with the car and the absolute best is to see it for yourself or have a neutral representative evaluate the condition of the car for you. Some people would say you got to be kidding that you would even bother with these comments, the car’s just about 15 years old !, but I in the past have looked at cars for how perfect they could be and then deciding my level of acceptance. To the best of my ability I will describe the car for what it is or what it is not. The buyer is the final judge on whether it meets their expectations. Nice part about the car is that is spacious, great to travel, lots of Interior Room, big Trunk but is a notch down in size from the Buick LeSabre. I would call it a larger Intermediate Size Car. There’s the $2000 down for a lease and $200 a month for 2 years minimum – all Totals $6800 and you have nothing left after 2 years. You could drive this for 2 years, 3 , 4, 5 and re-coup a fair market value back with normal care on the car all with reasonable expectation that it should remain trouble free for many, many miles.
SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY - PAYMENT includes the standard $300 (non-refundable) to Paypal within 48 hours of auction close. Remaining balance due in Cash or a completed/verifiable transaction with Certified check before Car &Title exchange to buyer.
After payment conditions have been met, I would discuss ( no commitment/obligation) the idea of splitting the distance of car pick-up with buyer to a maximum of 300 miles ( 150 miles each person). I am reserving the right to make final decision on any possibility at my convenience and discretion, so assume in your bidding, all the arrangements/payments are your full responsibility.

Repo man pays off elderly couple's car just in time for Thanksgiving
Mon, Nov 28 2016Repo men get bad raps for a good reason; no one likes having their car taken away. At least one guy in the repossession game proved folks in his profession aren't all bad when he helped an elderly couple hold on to their wheels right before Thanksgiving. According to the Belleville News-Democrat, unexpected bills and the rising cost of prescription medications pushed Stanford and Patty Kipping's fixed income to the breaking point. Unable to keep up with the $95 dollar a month payment on their 1998 Buick, they fell into arrears and the bank sent a repo man out to their home in Red Bud, Illinois to reclaim the car. Jim Ford, co-owner of Illini Recovery Inc., hooked up the old Buick and dragged it away, but later that night his conscience caught up with him. "When I got home that night, I said to myself, 'They are a real nice elderly couple. I gotta do something. I can't just take their car,'" Ford told the News-Democrat. Ford did do something, something surprisingly humane. He set up a GoFundMe and, within just a few short hours, he raised more than $3,500 dollars. This was enough money to pay off the Kipping's loan with a little left over for some maintenance. Ford and a friend then hooked the car back up and towed it back to the Kipping's home. Ford presented the couple with their trusty Buick, and threw in a thousand dollars in an envelope and a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving. "It was a miracle come true," Patty told the paper. "We didn't know what we were going to do." "I got up this morning and I looked up at the sun and I said, 'I hope we get our car back,'" added Stanford. "It's just unbelievable."Related Video: News Source: Belleville News-Democrat Auto News Weird Car News Buick repossession repo man
GM recalls 500K Chevy Camaros for ignition-switch defect
Fri, 13 Jun 2014General Motors issued a recall for more than a half million Chevrolet Camaros on Friday morning because of an ignition-switch safety hazard that mirrors the one at the center of the company's current crisis.
The problem affects Camaro models from the 2010 to 2014 model years. Approximately 464,712 cars are impacted in the United States, and 511,528 overall in North America. GM will alter the Camaro key to a more standard design, and will notify car owners with a recall notice in the mail.
In an announcement, the company said the ignition switches on the Camaros are fundamentally different parts than the older ignition switches found on defective cars that are responsible for killing at least 13 people and causing 54 crashes.
GM veteran Bryan Nesbitt tapped to head Buick design
Sat, Jun 6 2015General Motors styling veteran Bryan Nesbitt (pictured above) took over a new role on Monday as executive director of global Buick design and global architectures.
