1956 Buick Century 4dr, 322 Nailhead, Dynaflow on 2040-cars
Homer Glen, Illinois, United States
For sale is my 1956 Buick Century. If you are in the Chicagoland area there is a good chance you've seen it at various cruise nights. Most of the car is in original unrestored condition and has been parked for the last two years. I'm going to try to list all the major faults I can remember. At the moment it needs a new battery in order to start. The black paint is fair with swirls, scratches, and looks like it has some small bondo work on the front. Chrome is pitted with a little ruse on the rear bumper. The original starter is operated via the gas pedal, I switched this to a push button underneath the dash. I had issues with the starter engaging when the engine was already running, the push button solved this. I also had problems with the original generator, so I threw in an alternator. The 322 runs fine and no problems with the dynaflow shifting. The car needs new exhaust and brakes. The car pulls a little when under braking. I put in a new water pump 3 years ago. The diff fluid was recently replaced too. The interior is in decent condition. As you can see from the pics the front seat has a tear in the seam. Radio works, speedometer works (but not all that accurate), Voltage works, gas gauge does not. Odometer does not work. Glass is nice except a crack in the passenger window. rear passenger window does not fully go down.
Any questions feel free to contact me, or let me know if your want more photos. Also would be willing to trade for Pre 1979 truck The buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup or shipping. |

2014 Buick Regal GS AWD
Thu, 27 Feb 2014"This is just silly," I said as I laughed my way sideways around the icy track at Circuit ICAR, a racecourse, drag strip and kart track at the Montreal-Mirabel International Airport in Quebec. It wasn't the activity that had me cracking up, though. After all, winter driving experiences aren't uncommon in this business.
No, in this particular case, it was the car that had me chuckling. I wasn't in a mad hot hatch or a rally-derived rocket - I was in a Buick. The 2014 Regal GS, to be more precise. Somehow, despite its recent product renaissance (not to mention its distant - yet storied - history of performance models), I was having a hard time believing that this attractive, turbocharged, all-wheel-drive sedan sliding around the Great White North could possibly be wearing a Tri-Shield badge on its nose.
But it was, and slide about it did. While having access to a vehicle in this setting is fairly rare, what's rarer is the fact that I've had so much exposure to it. In Mr. Ewing's recent Volkswagen Golf R drive story, for instance, his ice capades were his first experience with the new model. In my case, though, I was lucky enough to first test the refreshed Regal GS for a week back in December before flying to Quebec to drive it on the snowy, icy, winding roads of Canada's most fiercely independent province and on the track at Mirabel.
2013 Buick Enclave
Mon, 29 Oct 2012GM's Flagship Lambda Is (Still) A Smooth Operator
Consumers shopping for a domestic full-size crossover have heard all about GM's triplets. The Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave are a very appealing and talented group of siblings. Entering their fifth year of production, albeit middle-age in the automotive industry, each is attractive, well-rounded and very capable on the paved dance floor. While all share nearly identical base DNA and the same basic running gear, subtle physical differences and unique personalities emerge between the trio when one digs a bit deeper.
The most polished of the threesome, without question, is the Enclave from Buick. Fresh off a mid-cycle update (as are its siblings), the flagship of the platform boasts a facelift, innovative new features and an upgraded demeanor for the new model year.
Junkyard Gem: 1990 Buick Reatta
Wed, Oct 4 2017General Motors built some interesting sporty cars during the late 1980s and early 1990s, as the company attempted to claw back market share from European manufacturers of high-end two-doors. There was the mean-looking Oldsmobile Trofeo, the Turin-to-Hamtramck Cadillac Allante, and the gadget-packed Buick Reatta. Here's an example of the latter car, wearing Maui Blue paint and residing in a Denver self-service wrecking yard. There was a lot to like about the Reatta, but the powertrain came as a disappointment: the ancient, rough-running pushrod Buick 3.8-liter V6 engine, driving the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The 3800 engine made 165 horses in 1990, which wasn't bad for that year, but Reatta money would have bought you a new 1990 BMW 3-Series with a tuneful 168-horse DOHC straight-six. The Buick V6 was something of an Albanian grain-thresher motor compared to the engines in the Reatta's European rivals' cars: rugged but crude. The pre-1990 Reattas came with Buick's amazing touchscreen computer interface, which may have scared off the most conservative Buick traditionalists. This car had more typical-for-1990 controls. Only 6,388 Reatta coupes were made for 1990, so we're looking at one rare Buick here. Handcrafted by these artisans in Lansing.
