Bugatti will send 'Flying Doctors' as part of Chiron recall

Normally, the owner of an automobile gets a letter in the mail when they need to be informed of a recall. But 'normal' isn't nearly good enough for Bugatti owners. When the Chiron is recalled, the owner gets a house call from a so-called 'Flying Doctor' who will, in this case, inspect all 47 Chirons sold worldwide for what could be improperly welded seat brackets. If necessary, according to Bloomberg, the car will be loaded onto a truck and transported to the nearest Bugatti service center where the entire seat assembly will be replaced free of charge. Now that's what we call service. If we're honest, anyone spending upwards of $3 million for a Chiron should quite rightly expect a different level of service from someone spending $30,000 on a Volkswagen. But what makes the entire situation even more offbeat is that Bugatti estimates only one percent of all Chiron models will need to be fixed. If you do the math, one percent of 47 total vehicles means less than half of one car is expected to be improperly welded. At least Bugatti is being thorough, right? Related Video:

There's not caring, and then there's people who regularly use #idgaf on Instagram and Twitter. Then there are owners behind Tax the Rich on YouTube. The channel, though infrequently updated, shows supercars like the Ferrari Enzo, Jaguar XJ220 and Rolls-Royce Wraith being used and abused like $500 beaters. It's fantastic stuff. Sometime last year, Tax the Rich brought two cars, a Bugatti Veyron Vitesse to the Heveningham Hall Concours. Video recently surfaced of the Veyron running a rally course, sliding and kicking up dirt in a manner that would give Subaru owners a run for their money. It seems like Tax the Rich in fact brought three cars to the concours, the other two being a Bugatti EB110 and an ultra-rare Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster (only six were ever built). Video of the Mercedes was posted in 2017, but it wasn't until last week that we got a look at the Veyron's run. We're crossing our fingers in hope that there's video of the EB110 out there, too. Creative minds build lightweight Lambos and Bugattis with cardboard and pedals

As manufacturers continue their quests to reduce the weight of their vehicles, they switch out heavy steel for lighter materials such as aluminum, carbon fiber, titanium, and sometimes even magnesium. But they've been ignoring a cheap alternative that is widely available: cardboard. Leave it to two visionaries from Vietnam to crack the code and build supercars and superbikes out of the versatile paper product. Vietnamese YouTube channel NHET TV, via CarScoops, might only have a year under its belt, but in that short amount of time, it has amassed more than 350,000 subscribers. What initially started out as a random collection of harmless pranks, trolls, and makeshift time-killers has blossomed into an entertaining channel of ultra-low-budget car and motorcycle builds.  The first video posted is a paper plane competition, but the second video shows the first appearance of a vehicle, a Ducati Panigale made out of cardboard and a bicycle. This isn't like Paper Mario with a two-dimensional silhouette, it's a close-enough three-dimensional replica. That project was admittedly pretty rough, but the work has only improved as the channel has matured.  Throughout the past year, NHET TV has stuck with high-performance transportation for inspiration. They've built projects that mimic a Lamborghini Sian, a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a Ferrari LaFerrari FXX K, a Bugatti Chiron, a BMW S 1000 RR, and a Yamaha YZF-R6, among others. Some of the builds, such as the Bugatti, go beyond the typical cardboard-body-on-bicycle-frame. As seen in the video below, the NHET TV built a tubular frame for the car using spare bike parts that they welded together. The Bug even has a custom steering column and steering wheel, though the high-quality model continues to use bike chains and pedals for power. The SVJ might be the most advanced vehicle, as it has a real engine for power and has custom reverse gearing.
