...We are very pleased to offer here a 1958 Bentley S1, Right Hand Drive Standard Steel Saloon. A production figure of only 3538 with possibly half that number remaining ensures that despite a totally recognizable profile, cars of this type are very rarely seen on the road. It shows 22,417 miles, black with parchment leather. The paint is in excellent to near mint condition. Interior leather and wood are also excellent. Chrome bumpers and body fittings also excel, near flawless. The timeless dashboard design here includes excellent wood, and all working gauges, during our testing process. Even the radio turns on (!!) The oil pressure and temperature gauges all showed proper readings - this particular car was a very rewarding car to drive during our test and adjustment sessions. Our Rolls-Royce / Bentley Expert reported a clean bill of health as well as being very responsive to all the minor adjustments he was making. (On the other hand, he complains loudly when a car is resistant to his expert touch...) The 4.9 liter engine, as originally installed in this car, is the latest and largest displacement version of this classic design. It appears to have either very low mileage ( as indicated) or a rebuilt engine. Normally the lower engine would have a throrough covering of grease / grime -- however this car has virtually NO coating , in some areas the aluminum castings being completely clear. We did no cleaning in these engine areas, to preserve the condition, so to speak. Other areas on the car that also indicate low mileage include original dash + interior wood, original headliner, and original leather hides in the interior. The SU carburetors operate properly, providing the engine with smooth acceleration and running characteristics. The car pulls very strongly, keeping up with any traffic. Enjoyment plus..... The Rolls-Royce / Hydramatic 4 speed automatic transmission shifts perfectly, also lending credence to an original low mileage. Crisp, positive shifts every time add to the driving experience. New original specification Goodyear wide whitewall tires ($$$) add to the overall look... All headlights, driving /fog lights, tail / brake / signal lights operate properly, as well as all dashboard and interior lights. The Summary : We LOVE the car and know the next owner / operator will also. It is a very strong, well cared for car that is among the very best example we have ever seen. We invite and encourage an independent inspection to verify the condition of the car. Whether going to a Car Show, a private garage, or a road trip, we know the car is capable. We have owned, enjoyed and improved the car and have no reservations about offering the car here. Thanks for looking. Good luck!!!!

2017 Bentley Bentayga officially revealed
Wed, Sep 9 2015The Bentayga is not only Bentley's first production SUV, but the fastest and most powerful one in the business. It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here. The Bentayga is not only Bentley's first production SUV, but the fastest and most powerful one in the business. Set to make its grand debut at the fast-approaching Frankfurt Motor Show, the all-new Bentley Bentayga is the redesigned successor to the EXP 9 F concept that debuted to lukewarm reception back at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The design bears all of Bentley's hallmarks, albeit applied to a taller form that shouldn't be unfamiliar to Range Rover owners. It certainly looks better than the original concept, but we'll reserve final judgment until we see it in person next week. Up front we find four round LED headlamps, the outer set taking an outline not unlike those we saw on the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept. Bentley says that rear haunch panel represents the largest single-piece aluminum pressing in the industry – said another way, it allows the Bentayga to be 520 pounds lighter than a non-aluminum construction. Glass panels account for nearly 60 percent of the roof's surface, and a hands-free tailgate gives access not only to a large cargo bay, but a folding seat for enjoying the view wherever the ultra-luxe sport-ute takes you. The Bentayga will get you there in a hurry, too, thanks to a powerful W12 engine. It's got both direct and indirect injection, cylinder deactivation, and a stop/start system with coasting mode. The net result is an output quoted at 600 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, this engine will rocket the Bentayga to 60 miles per hour in four seconds flat and on to a top speed of 187 miles per hour. It's the fastest production SUV in the world. Bentley intends to launch a seven-seat version, a higher performance Speed model, and more efficient diesel and hybrid variants. The Bentayga also features a four-mode adjustable air suspension, electronic active roll control, and electric power-assisted variable steering. It's also got predictive, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, rear crossing traffic warning, hill descent control, around-view monitor, and available park assist, electronic night vision, and head-up display systems. The driver controls everything via a large dial in the center console, which also handles drive modes and traction management.
2015 Bentley Continental GT3-R First Drive [w/video]
Mon, Jun 8 2015Racecars break. F1, NASCAR, IndyCar, GT3 – you name it – every go-fast machine built for the track is living on borrowed time. So it wasn't a complete surprise when, after traveling halfway around the world to drive Bentley's Continental GT3 racecar, the darn thing unceremoniously blew its rear differential on someone else's hot lap. While mentally recalibrating to the idea that my only takeaway from the three day commitment might be frequent flier miles, I realized an alternate vehicle on hand could make the trip worthwhile: the roadgoing, not-so-evil twin to the all-out race machine, the 2015 Bentley Continental GT3-R. You can hardly blame Bentley for the failure to proceed. The Flying B has been performing swimmingly well in the Blancpain Endurance Series, scoring three wins in its debut season and racking up a respectable 2015 so far. The dropped, spoilered, and severely trimmed-down GT3 racer reflects a ruthless abandon of all things luxurious and civilized. Over 50 ECUs were ditched from the road car; the doors alone, which typically weigh a lofty 125 pounds apiece, have been trimmed down to a wispy 15. Yes, the race version is a fearsome, sexy beast – and yes, this was quickly proving irrelevant because that drive was simply not meant to be.The Next Best Thing It's hard to call a $339,725 exotic a consolation prize. Climbing into the roadgoing GT3-R reveals a dramatic departure from the standard issue Conti: Not only is the color scheme unexpected (acid green on black and grey), so is the choice of materials (carbon fiber, Alcantara, not an inch of wood veneer in sight). Some pesky legacy remnants remain (antiquated navigation system, some weirdly pedestrian VW-sourced buttons and switches), but there's also a smattering of sweet details (those famous organ stop air vents, the green center indicator on the steering wheel, the pleasantly gripped Alcantara shifter). In all, 300 examples are being built, 99 of which are destined for the US. Unlike the somewhat sonorous GT V8 S upon which it's based, the GT3-R's titanium exhaust enables an even more exuberant, unapologetic, voluminous roar. Those exhaust gases are summoned from the 592-horsepower, 553-pound-foot, twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, which gains 71 hp and 51 lb-ft over the V8 S model it's based on.
Bentley designer calls Lincoln Continental concept a Flying Spur 'copy' [w/poll]
Tue, Mar 31 2015When you first laid eyes on the new Lincoln Continental concept, we'd wager you were likely impressed, because it's an impressive design. But if you also thought it looked familiar, you're in good company. According to Car Design News, design chief Luc Donckerwolke over at Bentley thinks the Lincoln concept bears more than a passing resemblance to another Continental: Bentley's own Flying Spur. "This behavior is not respectable. Building a copy like this is giving a bad name to the car design world," Donckerwolke told CDN, after posting some disparaging comments on Facebook and offering in jest to send over the tooling. "It is very disappointing, especially for an exclusive brand like Lincoln," added Sangyup Lee, his deputy for exterior design. The irony is further entrenched by the name, which Bentley only dropped from its Flying Spur in its latest iteration but still uses for the coupe and convertible models. Both automakers have a deeply routed history with the nameplate, but Lincoln's stretches back further, having first used the handle in 1939 before Bentley did in 1952. However it's not the nameplate that's the subject of controversy here, rather the design of the vehicle to which it's applied. So what do you think, did Lincoln borrow too heavily from its British counterpart? Related Video:
