1951 Bentley Mk Vi Rhd on 2040-cars
Los Angeles, California, United States
BEAUTIFUL MK VI PURCHASED FROM A SAN FRANCISCO, CA SELLER IN 2002. THE AUTO HAS BEEN IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (SAN FERNANDO VALLEY) FOR THE LAST 11 YEARS - ALWAYS GARAGED AND COVERED.
After I took delivery of the auto, I had the following repairs done. The manual transmission was removed and serviced, the flywheel was replaced, the starter rebuilt, a complete brake job, the radiator and gas tank were removed tested and repaired, the pitted exterior chrome was removed and re-chromed, seat bottoms were reupholstered, and a two-tone paint job was done including wheels,. With the exception of the fuel gauge there are no other known problems. All items work including the pop-out turn signals. The " His Master's Voice" Radiomobile is intact and turns on. The engine starts effortlessly and there is no smoking or knocking, the transmission shifts correctly.. Although the auto has not been washed or waxed over the last nine years, the auto shows well without detailing. Since my purchase of the vehicle in 2002, I have driven less than 200 miles. Bentley officially returns to racing at Gulf 12hr
Sun, 15 Dec 2013For a company with a tendency to name its cars after parts of the Circuit de la Sarthe like Arnage and Mulsanne, Bentley sure has been gone from endurance sportscar racing for a long time. It famously won the 24 Hours of Le Mans five times in the 1920s, but didn't come back until 68 years later to win again in 2003. That was the last time Bentley competed on the world stage... until now.
Bentley first revealed its rekindled racing ambitions with the Continental GT3 at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The car would be developed for privateer racers, and that's all led up to this point. Team M-Sport, which you may know better for having run Ford's World Rally Championship team, was charged with developing the car, and it entered the new racecar this past weekend in the Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi. There, on the Yas Marina Circuit in the United Arab Emirates, the Continental GT3 diced it with GT3 versions of the likes of the Ferrari 458, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and McLaren 12C.
So how did it fare on its first time out? Well the race is split into two six-hour sessions, and the Conti finished third in the first heat (behind the AF Corse Ferrari and Black Falcon Benz) and fourth in the second (just edged out by another 458 entered by Kessel Racing). Not a bad outcome for Bentley's first race in a decade. And the Abu Dhabi race was essentially a dress rehearsal for next season when the Continental GT3 will be entered in the full 2014 Blancpain Endurance Series.
2013 Bentley Continental GT V8
Fri, 14 Dec 2012The Entry Entry-Level Bentley
I have a friend who once told me that he would never buy the cheapest version of anything. I pressed him about cars and figured he was backed into a corner when I mentioned Bentley. With only the Continental series of cars - GT coupe, GTC convertible, Flying Spur four-door - and Mulsanne sedan on offer, surely this friend of mine would go for something like the Continental GT coupe over the larger, much more expensive Mulsanne. While their base prices are separated by over $100,000, the Continental GT's starting price of $212,600 should still command enough respect from my friend's imaginary - and judgmental - group of country club acquaintances.
"No way, it's the entry-level Bentley."
Bentley Bentayga crossover prototype keeps on strippin'
Tue, Mar 10 2015The Geneva Motor Show is over, and the stunning EXP 10 Speed 6 concept has had its moment in the limelight. But now it's back down to business for Bentley. That means working on getting its new Bentayga crossover to market, and from these latest spy shots, it seems that's exactly what the British automaker is up to. Pictured here wearing less clothing than ever before, the Bentayga looks pretty darn near ready for its debut. The pre-production prototype even has its full leather seats in place, with plastic covers to protect them as the development drivers (like the one trying his darnedest to block the shots) do their thing. Of course there are still some parts hidden from view, with thin foil covering the headlights, taillamps and rear quarter windows. There's also something weird going on with those gills on the rear door. And the wheels are likely to be replaced as the rest of the trim is installed. But by and large, what you see here is what the production version is expected to look like, sans the polish. Related Video:
