New Bentley Continental GT3 race car looks beautiful and brutal

Bentley has been building and racing GT3-class versions of the Continental GT since about 2013. As such, it's really no surprise that Bentley would create one based on the newest Continental GT, as seen above. Still, we're glad to see it, especially because it looks really mean, and better than the outgoing racer. Part of the design improvements are due simply to the new road car's looks. The lower, wider grille, and tidier, less bulbous tail do a lot to make the race car look much lower and more aggressive than the old car. But the racing-specific bodywork is cleaner and more aggressive, too. Large overfenders are fitted both front and rear, and they each have integrated intake vents at the leading and trailing edges. The openings at the front of the front fenders are curved such that they look a bit like angry eyebrows. The rear diffuser looks better integrated with the body now, rather than simply lurking behind a cut-down rear bumper. The big wing with outboard supports is also impressive. Performance-wise, there likely won't be a major difference between this and the outgoing car. It seems power is down a bit to over 550 horsepower rather than over 600 horsepower. Curb weight is estimated to be under 1,300 kg, which is about 2,866 pounds. That's also similar to the old car. Power also continues to come from a twin-turbocharged V8 sending power to the rear wheels. This is a sharp contrast to the road car's twin-turbocharged W12 sending power to all four wheels. For any enterprising racers looking to trade to a new car or get into a GT3, Bentley will begin selling the new Continental GT3 next June. Pricing has not been announced. Bentley reveals Continental GT V8 S with a bit more of everything

A Bentley seldom lacks for power, but the entry-level, V8-powered Continental GT and GTC will be getting just a bit more when the doors open at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 in the new Continental GT V8 S and GTC V8 S has been upgraded by 21 horsepower and 15 pound-feet of torque to bring output up to 521 hp and 502 lb-ft. That's no earth-shattering boost, but when you're dealing with a car that weighs over 5,000 pounds, ever little bit helps.
In a rare best-of-both worlds scenario, Bentley has managed to squeeze the extra thrust out of the Audi-derived engine without sacrificing fuel economy, enabling the new V8 S models to cover the same 500 miles on a full tank as the existing Continental GT V8. But the crew from Crewe didn't stop there: they also lowered the suspension by ten millimeters (0.39 inches), stiffened the spring rates by 45% up front and 33% in the rear, tweaked the dampers, fitted a stiffer rear sway bar and recalibrated the stability control, all in the aim of providing a more assertive, engaging driving experience.
The revised models can be identified by their tweaked front and rear fascias, black grille and unique 20-inch wheels. As of right now, it's not clear how much the V8 S will cost over the standard eight-pot Conti, but then Bentleys don't come cheap in the first place. Deliveries are set to begin early in 2014, by which time we hope to have more specifics on price and availability.

Bentley readying four-door coupe for 2018

Bentley purists have probably been tearing their hair out since we got our first glimpse of the EXP 9 F SUV Concept. "A Bentley SUV? " you could almost hear them saying, incredulous to the idea that an automaker actually wants to make money. Now, word is that the British brand might be jumping on the four-door-coupe bandwagon. The car, which would slot in below the Continental GT, and act as the new base model, would compete with the BMW M6 Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG, according to Car.
Size-wise, Car thinks it'd be in line with the Continental GT, at just over 15.5 feet long. It'd wear a price tag of 125,000 to 150,000 euro, which converts to $168,650 to $202,380. In reality, the US-spec baby Bentley would need to retail for no more than $130,000 to $170,000 if it wanted to truly capture the M6, Porsche Panamera and CLS63 crowd. Speaking of that Porsche, Car thinks the Bentley will ride on the same platform.
As is pointed out, the question of which platform this new model will ride on is an important one. The two possibilities are the D5 architecture of the next Audi A8 or the MSB platform, which will underpin the next-generation Panamera. Expect a 3.0-liter V6 and a 4.0-liter V8, both of which will receive special outfittings for duty in the Bentley, when it arrives in 2018. What do you think?
