I bought this 1957 Bentley at an auction two years ago with the intention to restore it but present plans have changed. I have restored many antique vehicles as a hobby in the past and this beauty offered a lot of potential. I purchased this car in Pensylvania with a salvage title as "PA salvage abandoned vehicle, not damaged nor stolen". It had been last registered in 1985 and was found abandoned two years ago inside a roofed repair shop that officiallyclosed its doors back in 1986. The vehicle is presently registered in Florida with a clear title.
The car is a RIGHT hand drive. I have driven this vehicle on weekends about 300 miles in total since I bought it. The car is old but is 100% complete, Nothing is missing. The engine starts easily and runs great, Odometer reads 36,000 miles and seems possible according to the excellent compression it has in all cylinders, automatic transmission shifts nicely and smooth. Electrical system is all good and working fine except for the dash temperature gauge and some few missing light bulbs or in need of replacement. Battery is new and generator charges it without any issue. Suspension feels ok, all glass is fine, all manual windows and locks work fine, tires are ok but old, grill is rusted and needs rechroming, body is straight but there are a few minor dents and some superficial rust, overall paint is old and discolored and peeling on the roof (see picture), leather seats upholstery needs replacement (front seats leather is torn and back seats leather is old and brittle) and are now covered with new black cloth seat covers, front floor rug is discolered and need replacement, all wood is there and in good condition but needs refinishing, the undercarriage has some superficial rust and there is one specifically area badly rusted under the battery in the trunk by old battery leaking acid and destroying about one foot of the frame (see pictures). rest of frame and trunk and floor panels are ok. Car is not drivable now only because both Brake cylinders need to be refitted, a power steering small hose is leaking, and both carburators have small leaks on them due to old joints. This car was most probably last tuned 30 years ago, engine and transmission oil has been changed since I bought it. The last picture was in a small plastic bag under the rear seat and shows and illustrates what the car looked like and can look like again with good TLC.

The new Continental GT Supersports is the most powerful Bentley ever
Fri, Jan 6 2017The Bentley Continental GT Supersports has finally returned after a hiatus since the 2013 model year. And in that time, it became even meaner. The car packs a tweaked, twin-turbocharged W12 engine that now pumps out 700 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque. That's an extra 79 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque over the old model. With output like that, it's no surprise the new Supersports can demolish a 0-60 mph run in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 209 mph. The convertible also returns, although the soft top does cost a bit of outright speed. It's 0.3 seconds slower to 60 mph with a time of 3.7 seconds. It also has a slower top speed of 205 mph. But the headroom is amazing. View 13 Photos Fortunately, Bentley has equipped the new Supersports with handling and stopping upgrades, too. The suspension is lower and stiffer than normal a Continental GT. Power goes through a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system. That all-wheel-drive system also diverts 60 percent of the power to the rear by default, but can adjust the bias as needed. To bring all 5,000+ pounds of the Supersports to a stop, it has massive carbon ceramic brakes at each corner – 16.5 inches up front, and 14 inches in back. The Supersports sports plenty of style changes, too, although whether they're upgrades is up to the beholder. The car has sprouted a wide array of vents, gills, and wings. It also gets some huge 21-inch forged wheels and rifled exhaust tips. An "X Specification" package also gives buyers the option of eight two-tone color schemes along with carbon fiber mirrors and other trim pieces. It also includes a titanium exhaust that saves about 10 pounds of weight. Inside is plenty of leather and Alcantara, along with a new dash trim in a checkered carbon fiber finish. Of course other existing Bentley trims and veneers are also available. Bentley did not give details on pricing or availability of the Supersports. Related Video:
Bentley's Bentayga Mulliner takes two-tone to a new level of excess
Wed, Mar 1 2017Because a normal Bentayga just isn't enough for some people, Bentley revealed its most exclusive SUV yet, the Bentayga Mulliner. Now this isn't a wild custom model like the Mulsanne Grand Limousine by Mulliner. Rather, this is like past special-edition Mulliner cars including the standard-length Mulsanne, and the Continental GT, which featured some unique trim and detail touches. Immediately apparent is the two-tone paint scheme. This is a new option that will be introduced on the Bentayga Mulliner, but will trickle down to the rest of the lineup this April. In addition, this special Bentayga comes with exclusive 22-inch wheels with floating centers to keep the badge upright, a la Rolls-Royce wheels. Bentley also adds unique badging and standard color-coordinated lower body extensions, while the lower grilles are finished in chrome. The car that will be on display at the Geneva show will feature a special marquetry inlay up front showing the Monte Rosa mountain range. The two-tone scheme of the exterior is continued inside, with the front and rear seats upholstered in different colors of leather. In the Bentayga above, black leather covers the front seats while the rears are done in an ivory-colored hide. The seats all feature two colors of contrast stitching, as well. Even the wood veneers are finished in an exclusive dual tone. On the dash, the wood is completely black, but along the front doors, it fades to a natural finish that is continued on the rear doors. Breaking from the obsession with multiple colors, the Bentayga Mulliner also features a wine bottle cooler and crystal champagne flutes. You could put rose in one if you're really not into matching, though. If even these upgrades don't do it for you, there are a couple other special options available. Bentley offers the Linley Hamper by Mulliner, which is a pretty serious picnic basket featuring Linley china and silverware, as well as a refrigerator. This special Bentayga can also be ordered with the Mulliner Tourbillon automatic clock by Breitling, which the BBC reports was a $160,000 option when introduced during the SUV's debut. Bentley will begin taking orders this spring, though pricing for the SUV was not released. Expect it to cost a good chunk more than the standard model's $229,100 base price. Related Video:
Drive a Bentley | The List #0017
Thu, Oct 20 2016There's just something about a Bentley. The brand exudes luxury. There's nothing quite like driving or getting chauffeured in one of these classically British vehicles. On this episode of The List, hosts Jessi Combs and Patrick McIntyre head all the way to the UK to investigate Bentley's heritage and drive a shiny new Mulsanne. To start the trip off, our hosts drop by the Bentley Factory in Crewe to learn how the cars are made. Every aspect is crafted with precision and care, taking up to two weeks to complete each car. Our hosts even busted a few stereotypes about the brand during their trip. "I thought Bentleys were supposed to be grandma cars," said Jessi, enjoying the high life in the luxurious back seat of the Mulsanne. "It's more of a beast than anything," Patrick responds from behind the wheel. From learning about the 400-hour manufacturing process for one vehicle, to getting behind the wheel and feeling the power of the 505-horsepower engine, this is an episode of The List you won't want to miss.
