Bentley reveals One-of-One Continental GT Speed at The Quail

Mon, Aug 21 2023

Monterey Car Week is the place and time to debut super-rare, exclusive vehicles, and the Bentley Continental One-of-One GT Speed is precisely that. This single Continental GT Speed was made to celebrate 20 years of the Continental GT, which started production in 2003. The very first one off the line (pictured alongside the new car here) was painted in Cypress Green paint, had Saddle leather upholstery and Burr Walnut wood trim. So of course, this 2023 GT Speed is finished in Cypress Green paint, features Saddle leather upholstery and Burr Walnut trim. However, Bentley enhanced the new one to make it appear even more special. The Saddle leather is broken up with “Special Green” accent hides, and contrast stitching is done in the same green throughout. Plus, there is both glossy and open-pore wood trim instead of the single type to jazz things up further. To call this out as an especially unique Continental GT Speed, it also gets sill plates that read “20 years of the Continental GT by Bentley Mulliner.” YouÂ’ll also see outlines of the 2003 and 2023 Continental GTs on the center console, dash trim and outer door sill. And lastly, “One of One by Bentley Mulliner” is etched into the cupholder cover alongside a wheel. As youÂ’d expect, this particular car has pretty much every package and option one can spec for the Continental GT Speed. And because itÂ’s the Speed, it has the W12 engine and all the other performance goodies that go along with it. Bentley says the car was handed over to its owner at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. Related video:

Bentley rolls out special Birkin edition Mulsanne in Europe

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

While focus in the automotive industry this week is undeniably on the Detroit Auto Show and the North American market, Bentley has introduced a new special edition overseas based on the Mulsanne.
Named after Sir Henry "Tiger" Tim Birkin, one of the legendary Bentley Boys of the 1920s and '30s, the Mulsanne Birkin Edition upgrades on Crewe's flagship limousine with some unique touches. Available in Ghost White, Damson burgundy or a two-tone Fountain Blue and Dark Sapphire paintjob, the Birkin Mulsanne features unique 21-inch wheels, special tread plates, a unique Flying B logos stitched into the headrests and inlaid into the dashboard and rear picnic tables.
Each of the 22 examples to be made will also come with a custom luggage set and comes standard with the optional Mulliner Driving Specification and upgraded entertainment system with twin 8-inch LCDs in the seatbacks, DVD player, wifi hotspot, Naim audio system and integrated iPads. Bentley hasn't announced pricing for the special European model, but if there were ever an example of "if you have to ask, you can't afford it," surely this is it.

Bentley Bentayga Speed honors Russian ballet with creative colors

Tue, Oct 26 2021

Bentley has become the first major automaker to release a series of cars dedicated to Russian ballet — sorry, Lada. It's planning to build a series of six Bentayga Speed models inspired by a different motion performed by ballet dancers in Russia. Each SUV in the series wears a specific livery; three feature a single-tone paint job while the rest get a two-tone look. As of writing, only one of the limited-edition SUVs has been revealed. It's painted in Silver Storm over Damson, which is Bentley-speak for purple, and it receives a brown and purple leather interior with contrasting Koa wood trim. Some of the other color combinations planned will be more subtle. One will be painted in Windsor Blue over Light Windsor Blue, for example. At the other end of the spectrum, another will be fully finished in purple. Edition-specific contrast stitching and ballet silhouettes added to the seats and to the trim on the dashboard further set the members of this few-off series apart from the regular-production Bentayga Speed. And, each car is named after a unique ballet move; the name appears on the sill plates. Before you get in, keep an eye out for the unique Russian Heritage LED welcome lighting that's exclusive to these six cars. Don't look for ballet-inspired modifications under the hood. Power comes from the regular-production Speed's mighty 6.0-liter W12 engine, which is twin-turbocharged to develop 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. The latter figure is available over a broad range that stretches from 1,500 to 5,000 rpm. The firm quotes an impressive 3.9-second sprint from zero to 62 mph and a top speed of 190 mph. Pricing information hasn't been announced but it's of little interest: all six cars have already been spoken for. They'll be delivered by Bentley dealerships in the Moscow area before the end of 2021. Bentley explained that this is the first chapter in a series of Russian Heritage Edition models developed specifically for the Russian market. It plans to release new Russia-themed limited-edition models annually. Fear not if you're into big, powerful SUVs and head-turning paint colors but aren't on the list to receive a ballet-themed Bentayga. Mulliner (the division that handles Bentley's in-house customization) takes requests; its 1,000th project was a sweet potato-colored Bentayga.
