2004 Bmw Z4 2.5i Convertible 2-door 2.5l Roadster on 2040-cars
Sugar Land, Texas, United States
2004 BMW Z4 2.5I E85 convertible. Jet Black with beige soft top and beige leather interior. 2.5 liter 24-valve DOHC, inline six cylinder engine. 5-speed, steptronic automatic transmission. Anti-lock disc brakes all around, dynamic stability control, rollover protection bars, remote entry, central locking, alarm system, tinted windows, radio with CD and ten speakers, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, power windows, power mirrors, power seats with driver memory, rain sensor, fully automatic soft top with heated rear window. 21 City MPG, 28 Highway MPG. Still have original invoice with price of $38,465 All maintenance records: I keep all of my cars in excellent mechanical condition and this one is no exception. Maintenance includes oil/filter every 10,000 miles with synthetic oil. Most recent oil change was at 131,000 or 5,000 miles ago. Major service was at 120,000 with spark plugs changed at that time. The battery was changed at 118,000. Rear brakes, always with new rotors, at 111,000. New wiper motor at 105,000. Convertible hydraulic pump is brand new ($1000 repair)
This was my daughter’s car when she attended graduate school. It has been in two minor accidents, once when a landscaper’s trailer backed into the front when she was stationary at a gas station and the second when she backed into a pole, also at a gas station. Both have been successfully repaired. The convertible top had two small tears/holes, but no water seeps in at all. The rubber gasket around the windshield has hardened and cracked from age. The interior driver’s door handle shows wear as does the leather steering wheel, the gear shift knob and the area under the handbrake. I have tried to show all of this in the pics. If you need more pics, just let me know. The interior is in remarkable good shape. The exterior has one headlight that has fogged and needs a clean. The paint is reasonable for its age. There is some paint missing from passenger mirror and driver’s front spoiler. This is still one of the best looking cars BMW made and it is a delight to drive. Get it before it goes.

BMW details cheaper, sub-M performance cars for young 'brand ambassadors'
Tue, 11 Feb 2014BMW's M cars are undoubtedly some of the best sport sedans in the world. Unfortunately, their prices put them out of the reach of a huge segment of buyers, many of them young. However, that might change in the near future as BMW launches its M Performance Automobiles performance sub-brand, positioned between its standard cars and the full M models.
Traditionally, M car buyers have been male and in their early-40s, according to Oliver Ganser, product strategy manager for BMW North America, speaking to Automotive News. However with MPA, BMW hopes to find even younger buyers "who will be brand ambassadors and appeal to the real enthusiasts that we have," he said. These new MPA models will see a mild boost in power and handling from off-the-shelf parts, instead of the unique engines and cutting-edge tech from their bigger M brothers.
The M Performance Automobiles line was launched last March at the Geneva Motor Show with high-performance diesel models of the 5 Series, X5 and X6. The first of the MPA models coming Stateside, the M235i, launches in March. We liked it when we drove it in January, but the $44,000 base price is still a bit steep. If it proves to be a success, we will see more of them, and if not, then it'll go down as another failed experiment, like the 318ti hatchback.
Giles Taylor succeeds Ian Cameron as head of Rolls-Royce design
Thu, 28 Jun 2012Back in the day, a Rolls-Royce looked pretty much the same as a Bentley, but with a different grille. Once BMW took over Rolls-Royce, however, it was faced with the challenge of visually separating itself from its former sister brand. And most would agree that it did so pretty well. But its cars have looked pretty much the same ever since. What Rolls-Royce needs, then, is a bit of a design shake-up. And that's just what this latest appointment could bring.
After a baker's dozen years as design director at Rolls-Royce (and twenty years designing for the BMW Group altogether), Ian Cameron is retiring from his post. In his place, Rolls-Royce has named Giles Taylor as its new director of design. In his new capacity, Taylor will report directly to BMW Group chief designer Adrian van Hooydonk, and be responsible for all design matters related to the Rolls-Royce brand and its products.
Taylor was promoted to the role from his previous position as head of exterior design for the marque, a position he's held for barely more than a year. We'll be eagerly watching to see what the veteran British car designer has in store for the future of Rolls-Royce. In the meantime you can read the full announcement below.
BMW X4 Concept is no Shanghai surprise
Thu, 04 Apr 2013"One in four new BMW cars is now a BMW SAV." If you're new to BMW parlance, SAV stands for Sports Activity Vehicle, a vehicle type most of us more commonly refer to as a crossover, and that statistic, which comes straight from the automaker itself, tells you all you need to know about why the X4 Concept you see above exists.
Like its larger X6 sibling, the BMW X4 Concept tries to shove a crossover in a mold shaped vaguely like a fastback coupe. Put another way, the X4 is likely to be a polarizing design, though perhaps not to the extent that the X6 divided opinions. As for us, we definitely prefer the styling of this X4 Concept, with its strong character lines and impressive wheel-to-bodyside ratio, over that of its bigger brother. That said, we're sure the AMC Eagle comparisons will begin in earnest starting right about... now.
Dimensionally, it seems the most obvious machine with which to compare this X4 Concept is the 3 Series Wagon - we're not sure if it will be as spacious inside as the 3 Series Gran Turismo. A two-inch stretch in the wheelbase ought to bring a commensurate improvement in legroom, and a body that's nearly five inches longer should be a boon for cargo capacity. Of course, that fastback roofline will surely cut down on the car's roominess inside, but we'll have to wait for the final production model to judge its true capabilities.
