2001 Bmw M Roadster (s54) on 2040-cars
Apex, North Carolina, United States
BMW M Roadster, 2001, 55,100 miles. S54, 315 HP engine (premium gas), Red (Imola Rot) exterior, red/black leather interior. Excellent body with exception of one tiny dent in right front quarter just below the vent trim. There are tiny nicks here and there that have been touched up. Very well maintained, all service records from 8/04 to present. Third owner, purchased with 42K miles in 2006. Interior in very good condition. After market floor mats with M Logo. No Smoke. 2nd owner purchased the car from a Florida dealer as a CPO with warranty. Top shows slight wear at pressure points (from when it is closed). Rear window has a wear line across because the previous owners didn't use a BMW window protector as I do. I also have a fabric "cockpit cover" to use when the top is down, attaches with tabs under the deck lid, velcro straps on the wipers, and elastic bands that slip under the door handles---it will not blow off. The boot cover for the top is in fine shape. Also have the factory mesh wind screen that attaches between the roll hoops---nice to have. Mechanically excellent. Just had new tie rod ends installed because the shop said I needed them, couldn't tell by driving. Four-wheel alignment done at that time. The engine has never missed a beat since I've had the car, very strong. No oil use. I installed a Strong Strut shock tower brace, mostly because it looks cool with the black crinkle finish ($500.) Otherwise the vehicle is totally stock. Wheels in fine shape (no rash) but the finish is looking faded. The original pattern Michelin Pilot Sport tires are getting thin, still good for a while.

BMW i8 and M1 reunited in mid-engined Bavarian retrospective
Mon, Dec 1 2014The BMW i8 may be the cutting edge today – it did, after all, just win our Technology of the Year award – but as rare an event as it is, it's not the first time that BMW has put out an extreme mid-engined supercar. The last time was in the late 1970s with the M1, a Giugiaro-designed, (partially) Lamborghini-developed piece of exotic machinery. The better part of four decades later, Auto Express has brought together an original M1 with its spiritual (if much more advanced) successor for the video comparison that was bound to happen. The question we can't help but ponder, initial sales success aside, is whether the i8 will mature into a classic in the same way the M1 has.
She's just a girl... who's an E28 fanatic
Tue, 02 Apr 2013Ashley Rodriguez has a thing for the BMW E28. The amateur train photographer has owned over 15 of the cars in her brief lifetime, and says she's attracted to the old 5 Series because of how rare they are. All told, she's owned every variation of the E28 with the exception of the 2.4td, and the crew from Petrolicious recently stopped by to train their lenses on her most recent acquisition: a lovely M535i. The site's latest video, Rare Things, takes a closer look at just what draws Rodriguez to the E28 and how her passion for the cars has evolved over the years.
As usual, Petrolicious serves up plenty of gorgeous footage of the vintage German sedan, and anyone who's ever harbored an obsession over any one particular model can certainly hear a few chords ring true in Rodriguez's words. Check out the clip below to see what we mean.
BMW Individual gives 760Li a Sterling reputation
Thu, 24 Oct 2013Standard chrome too plebeian for your taste? You can order a Rolls-Royce with its Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament made out of just about anything you want: gold, silver, glass... you name it. But if your sense of style is a bit less Anglo and a bit more Saxon, BMW has another option for you.
Feast your eyes on the BMW Individual 760Li Sterling edition. (But don't look directly at it. Don't you dare.) Crafted in partnership between BMW Individual and the silversmiths at Robbe & Berking, the special 7 Series is adorned with hammered sterling silver trim inside and out. The twin-kidney grille, the emblems, the interior trim panels... all hand-made in silver. So you won't want to park this particular Bimmer in the wrong neighborhood, because unlike the Rolls ornament, these don't retract safely under the hood.
The special edition gets a dark grey exterior tint and brown leather interior, the best to highlight the silver brightwork. Otherwise it's mechanically identical to any other 760Li (or so we would presume, as the press release didn't mention specifically), that being the flagship version of BMW's flagship sedan, complete with 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 at the front end of a long wheelbase. Check it out in the gallery above, including the build process at both BMW Individual and Robbe & Berking, and press release below.
