For sale is a 1996 BMW Z3 1.9. This is an all original car that I purchased for my wife as a fun second car. I purchased the car from the last owner who was a 72 year old gentleman who also used it as a fun second car for nice sunny days here in Florida. My wife ended up never driving the car much as life gets busy with work and kids, so it is not really being driven very often. As you can see from my driveway we do not have a lot of extra room and our garage is full as well. I’m a life-long car nut and have owned many BMWs (2002s, 3.0csl, M3, M6) and Porsches (911) over the years and have always appreciated the handling of BMWs. But, we simply do not have the space in the garage nor the desire to let this car sit out in the weather at length, so we have decided to sell the car and let someone else enjoy her. The car is in good condition and appears all original in paint and body. The paint is remarkably nice and original with ZERO RUST. This car is nearly 20 years old but it’s obvious that is has been well cared for. The elderly gentleman that I purchased the car from reported that the top end of the engine was refreshed about ten thousand miles ago and also had a new clutch put in at that time as well. The interior, while showing some signs of wear on the seats is on overall good condition with no cracks or sun damage to the dashboard. The engine runs great and is very smooth, as is the typical buttery smooth BMW transmission. The car needs nothing mechanical to my knowledge and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. The wheels are the original alloy wheels with little to no marks on them. The top operates up and down easily and is in good condition with no tears etc. the electric windows and seats all work as well. The A/C blows cold air for those days when it is driven top up. In summary, this Z3 would make a great second or third car for someone who wants to enjoy a roadster for nice weekend drives to the beach etc. It is in my opinion an extremely fun car for very little money and will be very inexpensive to maintain. Please do not bid unless you are ready for your bid to be the purchase amount as my reserve is super low. Low cost open truck shipping can be easily found and I am willing to be available to the best of my ability to meet your shipper. I do require the deposit within 24 hours and full payment in cleared funds must be received by me before pickup. I am a middle age professional so I am not a dealer, just a car hobbyist, but have had been ripped off with a fraudulent cashier’s check for a motorcycle sale last year, so I’m careful these days . Also, I reserve the right to end auction at anytime as the car is also for sale locally. Thank you and please feel free to email with any questions and I will do my best to return your email in a timely manner, however, I travel extensively with my work. |

BMW just the latest automaker to realize China will want a lot of EVs
Fri, May 30 2014News about China and cars isn't in short supply these days. With several of the world's largest cities, millions of cars on the road and huge problems with air pollution, it's no wonder that the nation is trying to make some changes. Along with decommissioning many of its aging vehicles, China is also expected to see huge growth in its electric vehicle market. BMW, as other automakers already have done, sees this as an opportunity to sell more cars. "We expect that the Chinese car market for electromobility will become the largest markets for those cars in a few years," says Karsten Engel, BMW's China head. BMW is collaborating with Shanghai's State Grid municipal power company to put public EV charging points at the former World Expo site, and the city plans to create 45 more by the end of the year. These will charge many different vehicles made by BMW and other brands. Tesla, which began delivering its Model S to China last month, plans to build its own supercharger network for the country. BMW plans to begin selling the battery-powered i3 and i8 plug-in hybrid in China this fall. BMW hopes to sell more than 400,000 vehicles in China this year. Fewer than 1,000 of those will be the i3, though, says Engel, due to a lack of supply. So far, China is falling drastically behind its own targets to get EVs on the road. With a goal of 500,000 by 2015, fewer than 70,000 EVs are currently operating in China. This numbers gap doesn't necessarily mean that the demand is or isn't there yet, but more and more automakers are betting it will be, and soon. Volkswagen is planning a fleet of electrified models for China by 2018 (at least 15 models according to Bloomberg). Daimler is teaming up with China's BYD to build EVs (and, of course, Your Dreams). Other Chinese companies are getting into the game as well. Tesla in talks with BMW about batteries, charging collaborations
Wed, Nov 26 2014With Toyota and Daimler no longer holding Tesla shares, the electric vehicle company might be looking for a new partner – possibly a Bavarian one. In a new interview with Germany's Der Spiegel, CEO Elon Musk confirmed that he has had talks with BMW execs about future collaboration. "We are talking about whether we can collaborate in battery technology or charging stations," Musk said in the interview, according to Reuters. However, a Tesla spokesperson has tempered things by saying no formal agreements are in place at the moment. In the same interview, Musk reportedly praised BMW's use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic in its i sub-brand offerings, and said he would like to have a battery factory in Germany in the next five or six years. The possibility of technological cooperation between Tesla and BMW has been a hot topic this year. In June, Musk reportedly met with BMW execs, and the two companies were also rumored to have met with Nissan to discuss charging technology. When Daimler sold off its shares, there was talk of it opening the way for possible collaboration between the two automakers, as well.
