BMW's EV tech is being used to resurrect the Karma

Saying that luxury electric-vehicle manufacturer Fisker was beleaguered before its demise a few years back would be a gross understatement. But despite the cars self-immolating and Tesla CEO Elon Musk criticizing everything but the Karma's design, a Chinese auto parts manufacturer is resurrecting the brand under a different name: "Revero." That's according to a report from Wall Street Journal. Wanxiang Group is moving production to EV-hotbed California from Finland and will unveil its new ride either in July or August, but pricing hasn't been announced yet. The previous Karma sold for $100,000. Perhaps most interesting, though, is how it's going to address the reliability issues that plagued the company's predecessor. WSJ says that the automaker is licensing BMW's electric vehicle control and charging systems – a deal finalized last year. "There are huge, serious, major upgrades throughout the electronics systems, wiring, charging, battery," Karma's chief marketing officer Jim Taylor says. In terms of looks, though, it doesn't sound like you should expect anything to change in that department because the overhauls aren't going to be visible, according to Taylor. Wanxiang picked up Fisker's remains for $149 million a few years back. This deal is important, especially for BMW: If the German automaker's licensed tech can help Fisker outrun its smoky, checkered past, that's a high-profile win for everyone involved. European jury picks finalists for 2015 Car of the Year

There are countless Car of the Year awards handed out each year, and naturally, Europe has its own way of doing things. Every year, a panel of jurists representing seven publications in seven different languages and seven different countries get together to name their joint Car of the Year. The panel released a list of 32 candidates back in July, and it has now whittled that list down to seven nominees. The list consists of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the Citroen C4 Cactus (shown), the Ford Mondeo, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Nissan Qashqai, the Renault Twingo and the Volkswagen Passat. Of those seven, only two are available in the US – those being the Mondeo (sold Stateside as the Fusion) and the C-Class. The Passat is an entirely different model in North America, the Qashqai isn't offered here, Citroen and Renault don't even participate in our market and the BMW 2 Series is represented here only by the completely different coupe and convertible. 2014 BMW 6 Series gets Frozen Brilliant White convertible, manual option for M6

BMW has announced updates to the 6 Series lineup today, including a special "Frozen" edition of the convertible, and a 640i Gran Coupe in all-wheel-drive trim.
The 2014 BMW 6 Series Convertible Frozen Brilliant White Edition (catchy name, right?) will be available from select BMW dealers this May, and will offer buyers the signature paint, Frozen Black mirror caps, a black grille and uniquely designed, 20-inch M Performance wheels. Just 100 examples of the FBWE 6er will be produced, with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive cars in the mix, for starting prices of $106,995 and $110,095, respectively (both prices include $895 in destination and handling charges).
BMW has also informed us that all of its 6 Series Gran Coupe models will now be available with the company's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. No pricing has been given for the xDrive versions of the car as of yet.
