2015 BMW X5 xDrive M Sport Line
This is the 35i, Twin Power Turbo in-line 6 cylinder, AWD (xDrive). This SUV has been delaer maintained it's whole
life. It is in very good condition and well cared for. It is easily the best car I've ever owned, but kids
playing AAU sports and getting ready for college necessitates selling it. In 2015 it was optioned out with an MSRP
of over $71K. If you go to BMW.com today, building a this car will cost almost $74K MSRP. KBB vakues it around
$54K today.
It is Carbon Black (which is very dark blue metalic in bright or LED light and only offered on the M Sport Line)
w/Black Leather seats and Fineline Oak Wood Trim. It is optioned with 20" M Sport wheels, 3rd row seating,
multi-contour front seats, adaptive M Suspension. Optional packages include Cold Weather Package (heated
front/rear seats, heated steering wheel, retractable headlight washers), Lighting Package (adaptive full LED
lights, automatic highbeams), Premium Package (comfort access, 4-zone automatic climate control), and Driver
Assistance Package (rear view camera, heads-up display).
Paint/body is almost perfect--a few very small stone chips on front end and a couple nicks in driver's side door
rocker (the BMW dealership did, but refused to fix). It has the stock 2-pane moon roof. The driver's side front
wheel has a very small spot of curb rash, but other 3 are good. Tires are very good as I have a second set of
winter wheels and tires that have seen the majority of the mileage to date, so plenty of tread on the stock summer
tires.

BMW M3 and M4 CSL not in the cards
Mon, 27 Jan 2014We aren't sure whether to file this one under "good news" or "bad news." BMW confirmed to Top Gear that there "are no plans" for lightweight versions of the new M3 and M4, in the same vein as the E46 M3 CSL (despite rumors to the contrary). The reason?
"There wasn't a CSL on the previous generation, and the way we look at it is like this: the CSL was great because it had this real focus on lightweight engineering. But we've already done that with these new cars. We've made them as light as possible - they come in under 1500 kilograms (3,306 pounds), which for a car like this is incredible," said Matt Collins, BMW's product manager for small to medium cars.
Now, as much as we love the idea of a hardcore version of any car, we appreciate BMW's point of view that the newest Ms are already as light and tough as they need to be. Collins elaborated, saying, "Rather than doing a halfway house to begin with and then rolling out a CSL, we thought we'd make the 'real' car as light as we possibly could. So we've no plans whatsoever to make a lighter, harder version just yet."
BMW confirms new Mexican plant
Thu, 03 Jul 2014After over a year of speculation, BMW is finally officially announcing that it's building a factory in Mexico. The new plant will cost the German automaker roughly $1 billion US and will have a capacity of about 150,000 vehicles a year when complete. However, production won't begin there until 2019.
The new factory is being built near the city of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, with plans to employ about 1,500 people. Unfortunately, BMW is still mum about which models it's producing south of the border. Earlier rumors indicated the possibility of the 3 Series, 1 Series and maybe even Mini models there.
BMW says Mexico's multiple free trade agreements are a major factor in the choice of location of the plant. They make it possible for the automaker to ship models more cheaply to North America, parts of South America and the European Union. "The Americas are among the most important growth markets for the BMW Group. We are continuing our strategy of 'production follows the market,'" said Harald Krueger, the board's head of production, in the company's official announcement.
Old vs. new debate gets new life with $25,000 Fiesta ST vs. E46 M3 showdown
Fri, 10 Jan 2014You know who you are. There's probably a few of you reading; the ones that say, "Why would I spend $27,000 on a new Mazda MX-5 when I could get a used Chevrolet Corvette with more power." Yes, we're talking to you, used car proponents. While it is a fair argument, it's not like used cars don't come with drawbacks of their own, though.
In an attempt to put this new-versus-used argument to bed once and for all, Matt Farah of the The Smoking Tire has picked up a pair of $25,000 cars - a used, but lightly modified, 2003 BMW M3 and a 2013 Ford Fiesta ST. Naturally, there's a comparison.
Farah, as he's wont to do, does get into the nitty gritty of what each car is like to drive, and discusses the merits of used and new-car shopping. But as he rightly points out while testing the M3, "So, it is a good car. But like any used car, it really does depend on the individual car."
