2010 - Bmw X5 on 2040-cars
Buffalo Grove, Illinois, United States
Up for sale is my wife's 2010 BMW X5M. We are selling it to make room for her 2014 RR Supercharged Sport that is due to arrive in 2 weeks (we needed a third row). I did not like the offer they gave me on trade-in. I would love to keep it but we have 5 cars (I am also selling our 2006 Mini Cooper S with 20k miles). It is finished in beautiful Carbon Black Metallic (Dark blue with black flake) and has the Black Merino interior with black piano wood finishing. This is the best of both worlds. It is a true sports car (555 horsepower and 0-60 in 4.2 seconds) and a functional SUV with all wheel drive! This has the same engine as the new BMW M5. It is like having an all wheel drive awd BMW M5 that can fit 5 people and their gear!! It is perfect in all types of weather. This was $100,000 new! Why pay $20K more for a Cayenne Turbo!?!? We bought it as a BMW Certified Pre-owned vehicle from Motorwerks BMW in Minneapolis. We traded in her 2009 X5 4.8; what a big difference! There is a reason why the X5M is more $$ than a regular X5! BMW is very strict with their certification and this X5M passed with flying colors. It has the CPO warranty till 8/31/2015 or 100,000 miles which is fully transferable to the new owner. This is another 19 months of worry free warranty that is good at any BMW dealership and has roadside assistance! You can buy an additional extended warranty from BMW, I believe it is ~$1,800 for another year (8/2016). This is one of the most comfortable cars we have owned. We drove it from Illinois to Virginia and back. It made 18-20 mpg on the highway. The seats were amazing and ride quality was excellent! It currently has 48,700 miles. It is in amazing condition in and out. My wife is a physician and parks it in a heated garage at work and home. We have no children... yet, and we are non smokers. It is washed weekly and detailed every 3 months. Options: Cold weather package Premium sound package Power tailgate Comfort access Panoramic moonroof Lumbar support Voice command Satellite radio Real Time Traffic Driver Assistance package High gloss roof rails BMW assist with Bluetooth Privacy glass HUD Side/Rear cameras Front/Rear Heated Seats Heated Steering Wheel Navigation 6 Disk CD Changer with hard drive USB/AUX/ipod Audio inputs 4 zone climate control park distance sensors tire pressure monitor auto dimming mirrors power folding mirrors high beam assist rain sensing wipers Adaptive Xenon headlights Launch control- only available on the X5M ! I have all the service records, manuals, keys, rear cargo cover, carfax. See the attached Carfax Buyback Guarantee! The previous owner is a lawyer from Minneapolis and is also an auto enthusiast. He traded it on a new Alpina B7. The carfax shows an accident 11-2010. I confirmed this with Motorwerks BMW and the previous owner. It was due to icy conditions and the X5M slid into the car in front of it and scraped the left side of the front bumper. It was reported due to the other vehicle having a cracked bumper cover . The X5M only suffered scratches and nothing had to be replaced! It did have the front bumper repainted by the Motorwerks body shop and it matches 100%. It also comes with the BMW carpet floor mats and BMW all weather mats. I also have a custom weathertech rear cargo mat that goes with the car. It has the upgraded white LED headlight Halos (2012+ style) and M emblems on the side and front of the vehicle. No other modifications. At 42,000 miles it had new Bridgestone Run Flats put on. 90% tread left! At 43,000 miles it received new pads and rotors. 90 % life left! 50,000 mile service and oil/filter change performed last month. It needs nothing but a new owner. Remember, this is not a dealer auction car. This our personal vehicle with ALL the history records. It also comes with all the accessories, not a stripped down auction car! The certified warranty is $$$ ! Watch Atieva's electric van outrun a BMW i8 and Dodge Viper
Mon, Aug 8 2016A little while back, automotive startup Atieva drag raced its electric van, called Edna, against a Tesla Model S and a Ferrari California in order to compare its performance against known and revered mechanical athletes. Again, the Silicon Valley-based company is putting its prototype up against electrified and conventionally powered performance vehicles on the drag strip. Last time around, Edna, the Mercedes-Benz Vito van equipped with a 900-horsepower, all-wheel-drive powertrain, bested both of its foes. In that showcase, Edna was hitting 60 mph in a little over three seconds. Comparatively, BMW lists the i8's 0-60 time at 4.2 seconds, though Road & Track clocked it at 3.8 seconds, with a quarter-mile time of 12.3 seconds. The Viper does 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. Before you even watch the video above, you can imagine how it will end, as the retuned Atieva Edna rips 0-60 mph in 2.94 seconds. Atieva clocked the quarter mile at 11.3 seconds at 117 mph. It's worth noting that driver skill can have a lot to do with a car's straight-line performance. We've witnessed Viper's elapsing the quarter mile in well under 12 seconds, which means it should be quicker in this test than the i8, if not the Edna. Still, the performance showcased in the video is exceptional. To improve Edna's stats, Atieva says it has used testing data to fine tune its AC induction motors at higher speeds once it got low-speed performance locked in. After testing in the hot California sun, including the race you see above, Atieva drove Edna 90 miles home with range to spare. As for production plans, Atieva will put this powertrain into a sedan slated for sale in 2018. In the meantime, the company will keep testing and tuning its working prototype, and has even invited the public to put their cars up against Edna in future sessions. Thermal imagery of BMW M4 DTM pit stop is red hot
Wed, 28 May 2014A pit stop is a pit stop, right? The race car pulls in, the crew changes the tires, pumps in some fuel, maybe swaps out a busted body panel or squeegees the windshield, and off it goes for another heat. Only pit stops have become the focus of news lately for a number of reasons, whether it's because of mishaps (like the ones that prompted F1 to ban mid-race refueling), new time records (due largely to said ban) or interesting new ways to film the fast-paced action.
A few weeks ago we brought you footage of an IndyCar pit stop filmed from multiple angles courtesy of Google Glass. Now BMW has released a brief clip of one of its M4 DTM racers coming in for fresh rubber, all filmed by infrared camera. Its the kind of technology BMW uses to help optimize its German touring cars for competition, and now the Bavarian outfit has released some footage for fans to enjoy.
The resulting thermal imagery gives you an idea of how hot the car runs (and where the heat is emanating from), how warm they get the fresh rubber before they get it onto the car, and what kind of temperatures the pit crew is subjected to. Look closely enough in the 25-second video below and you'll even see the heat sputtering out of the exhaust pipes as the M4 downshifts into its pit box. (Just don't try adjusting your speakers, the clip is without audio.)
Car Hacking 101: Here's what motorists should know [w/video]
Tue, Feb 24 2015Cars are nothing more than computers on wheels. As such, they're vulnerable to hackers. Most people who work within the auto industry have understood this for years, but for the broader American public not paying as close attention, three storylines emerged recently that underscored this new vehicular reality. First, German researchers found a flaw in BMWs remote-services system that allowed them to access the telematics units in vehicles. Then, a 60 Minutes report demonstrated that researchers could remotely infiltrate a Chevy Impala and override critical functions, like acceleration and braking. Finally, a US Senator released a critical report (see video above) that found almost all automakers are unprepared to handle real-time hacks of their vehicles. Those reports come on the heels of two previous instances in recent months when researchers demonstrated the capability to hack cars. All this news can be disconcerting. If you're late to the concept of car-hacking and wondering how this is possible, we've got you covered. Here's your quick primer on what you need to know. 1. How Did My Car Become A Computer? On the outside, cars haven't changed all that much over the past couple of decades years. On the inside, however, the amount of electronics and software has dramatically increased. Most new cars contain more than 50 microprocessors known as electronic control units. These ECUs control everything from airbag deployment and navigation systems to throttle control and braking, and they're usually connected to each other on an internal network called the CAN bus. 2. What Exactly Is Car Hacking? Depends who you ask. Automakers might consider anything that alters the car from its state of manufacture as a 'hack.' For example, if you're chipping the engine – re-calibrating those ECUs to increase your horsepower – some people might consider that a hack. But in the context of the recent news reports, security experts are focused on unwanted, unauthorized cyber intrusions into a vehicle. Once inside your car, prospective attacks could range from minor things like eavesdropping on conversations via an infotainment system and unlocking car doors to major concerns, like overriding driver inputs and controlling braking, steering and acceleration. 3. How Is This All Possible? Any part of the car that communicates with the outside world, either via a remote or direct connection, is a potential entry point for hackers.
