2003 Bmw X5 Sport - 4.4l on 2040-cars
San Francisco, California, United States
2003 BMW X5 4.4L Sport Model. It is Black on Black (Leather) and it is
in extremely great shape as you can see from the pictures. It has the
4.4L V8 engine with ample power to move this car at a very brisk pace. In comparison to the 3.0, fuel consumption is marginally more - but you
can't get enough of the power.
It comes with heated front seats, Wide Navigation Screen with an Updated MK4 Navigation that provides 3D / Perspective Map images. It also has a 6-Disc CD Changer as well as Parking Assist Sensors, Active Hill Descent, and even rear reclining electric seats. The car comes with rear window privacy shades as well. It is equipped with self-leveling BMW Xenon Headlights and 19' Allow wheels with nearly new tires on them. It also comes with a Full-Size Spare tire. The Steering wheel has been upgraded to a newer more modern ///M-Sport Wheel from an M5. Other features are automatic windows in all fours doors, power folding mirrors and power Moon / Sunroof. I recently replaced the passenger side window regulator and the navigation screen on the car. The car also had New Catalytic Converters installed early this year - around March, 2013. NEW STARTER - 10/30/2013: Replaced the starter with an OEM New / Rebuilt Unit as well as replaced the Support Brace with new OEM Bolts and Nuts. NEW BRAKES - 11/7/2013: New brakes were installed on the car with a Brake Fluid / Flush as well. Zimmerman Coated Rotos + Akebono Euro Pads + New Brake Pad Wear Sensors from BMW (OEM). NEW LOWER CHAIN TENSIONER - 11/16/2013: I replaced the Lower Chain Tensioner as a preventative measure to prolong the life of the timing chain guides. This was replaced with a BMW OEM unit. NEW OEM Hitch Kit - 11/20/2013: I just had a brand new OEM Hitch Kit installed on the car. These are very tough to find these days as BMW is out of stock. This is not an aftermarket kit, it is the Westfalia Kit made specifically for this car and giving it a towing capacity of 6000 Ibs Plus. I can provide the dealer receipts / invoices. I am the 4th owner, and the prior owners to me maintained the car meticulously. It was a rare find indeed. One of the previous owners was a BMW Technician and ensured the car was serviced regularly and any issues were taken care of promptly. I have a stack of receipts / records I can show you upon inspection. I have all the Owner's Manuals and records for the car from new. Even have the original dealer key tag - go figure. Everything works great on this car and it drives beautifully. Whether you are going antique shopping, taking a long trip, or towing your Camper.... - this car is ideal. It seats five adults very comfortably. The car currently has 127,000 miles on it but it is still being driven. As I said, it runs impeccably with no issues to mention. Also registration is paid up till September of 2014. PLEASE NOTE: The car is also being offered for sale elsewhere which may result in an early end to this auction. TRADES: I will consider trades depending on the offer. |

On Location in California with BMW and Mini
Thu, Feb 25 2016A mid-winter escape from frigid Michigan to drive a trio of new BMW and Mini products? It'd be a busy couple of days, but you can't argue with Southern California in February. The temperatures in LA, where we drove the Mini Cooper S Convertible, hovered in the mid-80s, and it was solidly in the 70s further north, at Monterey, where we drove the M2 and X4 M40i. The highlight of the trip was Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, which is a rewarding track to drive in a street car. The M2 was a blast there. The canyon roads above Malibu in the Mini were a close second, but even the lazy drive down the PCH to Big Sur was a blast. More important is the California state of mind we were in when driving all three of these cars. I've spent a lot of time in this state, and it has a complicated relationship with the car – and there's also a huge difference in attitude between the greater Bay Area and Southern California. Ample sun and twisty roads clash with image-consciousness, eco-consciousness, and brutal urban gridlock, and each BMW dealt with that paradox admirably, in its own way. Take a quick jaunt to California with me and check out the locations and experiences that helped form our impressions of these vehicles: the 2016 BMW M2 First Drive, the 2016 Mini Cooper S Convertible First Drive, and the 2016 BMW X4 M40i Quick Spin.
Poor headlights cause 40 cars to miss IIHS Top Safety Pick rating
Mon, Aug 6 2018Over the past few months, we've noticed a number of cars and SUVs that have come incredibly close to earning one of the IIHS's highest accolades, the Top Safety Pick rating. They have great crash test scores and solid automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning systems. What trips them up is headlights. That got us wondering, how many vehicles are there that are coming up short because they don't have headlights that meet the organization's criteria for an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating. This is a revision made after 2017, a year in which headlights weren't factored in for this specific award. This is also why why some vehicles, such as the Ford F-150, might have had the award last year, but have lost it for this year. We reached out to someone at IIHS to find out. He responded with the following car models. Depending on how you count, a whopping 40 models crash well enough to receive the rating, but don't get it because their headlights are either "Poor" or "Marginal." We say depending on how you count because the IIHS actual counts truck body styles differently, and the Infiniti Q70 is a special case. Apparently the version of the Q70 that has good headlights doesn't have adequate forward collision prevention technology. And the one that has good forward collision tech doesn't have good enough headlights. We've provided the entire list of vehicles below in alphabetical order. Interestingly, it seems the Volkswagen Group is having the most difficulty providing good headlights with its otherwise safe cars. It had the most models on the list at 9 split between Audi and Volkswagen. GM is next in line with 7 models. It is worth noting again that though these vehicles have subpar headlights and don't quite earn Top Safety Pick awards, that doesn't mean they're unsafe. They all score well enough in crash testing and forward collision prevention that they would get the coveted award if the lights were better.
BMW i creates high-design solar charging carport
Fri, 09 May 2014With the first deliveries of the i3 under way, and the recent i8 press launch, the marketing push in the US for the BMW electric sub-brand has begun. These i vehicles are supposed to have a completely different feel from the rest of the brand's lineup. To complement their earth-friendly ethos, the Bavarian company commissioned BMW Group DesignworksUSA in California to create a solar carport concept that could keep the models sustainably topped up on power. It premiered alongside the i8 in Los Angeles at the electric sports coupe's media launch.
At first glance, the BMW i Solar Carport Concept looks like a pergola from a winery or a well-groomed garden, but like the i vehicles, the deeper you look, the more high-tech features there are. The sides feature carbon elements in a similar way that the i3 and i8 have a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic body. Bamboo forms the uprights because its quick-growing nature makes it rather sustainable, and the solar panels are strung along the top to harness energy.
Obviously the sun can't provide all of the energy that the electric cars need, and a BMW Wallbox Pro charger is also connected to the power grid as a supplement. It includes a readout telling users the amount of solar energy versus municipal electricity it's using.
