Up for auction is my 2002 BMW X5 4.6 IS.  This is an absolutely amazing SUV with 350hp 340ft/lbs torque.  The exterior of the vehicle is in good shape for the year and it has always been garaged.  There is no rust on the body and no major damage at all.  There are a few scratches and tiny dings which are to be expected for being 12 years old but nothing out of the ordinary.  This vehicle has never been in an accident according to the Carfax report and I am the third owner.  Mechanically the X5 is in great shape as well.  It has 144k original miles and runs great.  There are no check engine lights etc...  The oil has always been changed every 5k miles will full synthetic.  All the electronics in this vehicle work as they should.  The a/c is cold and heat is hot.  All windows work, navigation works fine, heated front and rear seats and mirrors, sunroof, has parking sensors, power front and rear seats, telescoping steering wheel, hid headlights.  The cluster has also been repaired due to bad pixels which is a problem on most older bmws.  So there are no bad pixels in the cluster.  The wheels were recently refinished a few months ago.  They were powder coated a dark gunmetal color and they look amazing.  At the time of the wheels being refinished I also installed a set of wheel spacers front and back to give the SUV a more aggressive look.  So it currently has 20mm spacers in the rear and 15mm up front with brand new lug nuts all around.  Also included is a brand new set of OEM BMW roof rack cross bars.  Only a month old.  They come with the locking key.  The tires are all matching Michelin run flats and have 7-8/32" tread left which is 70-80%.  The car is in great shape.  I just do not drive it anymore and it sits in the garage most of the time.  This model of X5 was a rare model and I believe there were only somewhere around 4000 produced.  If you have any questions at all or would like to see the car before bidding feel free to contact me at 937-670-2698, call or text.  Thanks for looking!

Toyota sells off Tesla shares, too

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

The incredible rise of Tesla's stock price has done little to now stop two major shareholders from ditching their stake in the American EV manufacturer. First, Daimler, parent company of Mercedes-Benz, ditched its four-percent stake, and less than a week later, Toyota is doing the same thing, selling off an undisclosed bit of its Tesla investment.
The move comes as Toyota winds down sales of the RAV4 EV, which gets its batteries and electric motor from Tesla at the company's Fremont, CA factory.
"We have a good relationship with Tesla, and will evaluate the feasibility of working together on future projects," Toyota spokesperson Kayo Doi told Bloomberg via email.

Car and Driver lists 10Best for 2013, same as it ever was

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

Forgive us for having the distinct feeling of déjà vu, but it certainly feels like we've been here before. By that we are referring Car and Driver and the announcement of its annual 10Best vehicles for 2013. To be sure, it's an impressive selection of cars that combine heart-pounding performance and frugal sensibilities, but it also represents something of a broken record on the part of C/D. We're not so sure that's a flaw, though, as the resulting list is tough to argue with.
Vehicles like the Ford Mustang, Porsche Boxster, and BMW 3 Series have maintained their high-horsepower spots on this list for several years now. Even on the more practical and nimble end, the Honda Accord, Honda Fit and Mazda Miata have not budged. These continued spots are even in light of redesigns for some vehicles such as the Accord, Boxster and 3 Series.
In fact, the only newcomer to the 10Best list this year are the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ twins, which knocked out the Cadillac CTS-V. We think it would have been a huge misstep to have excluded the FR-S/BRZ, even in light of the supercharged Caddy's lamentable departure from 10Best.

Mini has become the Rover that BMW always wanted

Tue, Oct 27 2015

BMW has been working for 20 years to build a successful line of British cars, and on the evidence of the second-generation Mini Clubman, it may have finally done it. That means it's time for all of us to get used to the fact that Minis aren't going to be that small anymore. Case in point is this new Mini Clubman, introduced last month and conspicuous by its size. Many of us who've pointed to BMW's stewardship of Mini as an example of retro done right bemoaned the Countryman subcompact SUV – a concept actually ahead of its time. The Coupe and Roadster, perhaps rightfully, deserved (and received) an eye roll. But now there's a so-called four-door hardtop that went on sale this year and this forthcoming, six-door Clubman that approaches the compact hatchback class in size. These vehicles actually look like practical moves at keeping buyers from defecting to larger cars made by someone else, rather than vain attempts at maximizing investment in a set of parts. And in an interesting twist, Mini is turning into one of its ancestors – minus the feeling of inevitable doom. Many of us were led to believe somewhere since Mini's relaunch about 15 years ago that the brand would be a stepping stone into the greater BMW fold. But in reality, it's done exactly the opposite, creating a parallel brand for those not willing to embrace the BMW image, but leaning heavily on British nostalgia. That was sort of the reasoning used when BMW pulled the Rover Group of England away from a fruitful partnership with Honda in 1994 and absorbed it all. In the consolidate-or-die '90s, it made sense. BMW had a small, but successful, line of sedans. Rover had no success outside of Western Europe (its last US attempt at selling cars, the Sterling, ended three years earlier). Yet its Land Rover line of SUVs was just right for the time and the 35-year-old Mini still had image-conscious clout. With every passing day, the brilliance of BMW's move to abandon Rover in 2000 seems brighter. Even ditching Land Rover made sense in the long run (and probably saved Jaguar in the process). With every passing day, the brilliance of BMW's move to abandon Rover in 2000 seems brighter. During a chat with Mini USA VP David Duncan this summer, it became clear the Mini of the past is probably gone. A small, city-sized Mini is not necessarily off the table, but larger and more profitable models are coming first.
