Merrifield, Virginia, United States

2001 BMW X5 in very good condition.  The 5 speed manual transmission makes this SUV drive more like a sports car; It is a sporty driving vehicle.

Service and Maintenance history:

  • 108260 miles on the odometer
  • Loaded with options except for Navigation
  • Rear suspension control arms replaced at 75,000
  • Replaced at 76,000 miles: Engine, Cooling system, All hoses including heater hoses, Clutch, Flywheel, 4 oxygen sensors.
  • New Goodyear Assurance CS tires at 90,000.
  • Radiator fan assembly, Belts, tensioners and Idler pulley at 100,000
  • Front axles and seals replaced at 107,000
  • New Brake pads and rotors less than 10,000 miles ago
  • Just replaced the battery
  • All fluids have been replaced regularly
  • Over $30,000 worth of maintenance including the listed above over the life of the vehicle

The only issue I can find with this X5 is there is a thumping noise from the rear when shifting gears.  This is common on manual transmission BMWs, the rear differential mounts become soft and need replacing at some point in the near future.  I've never seen this issue on automatic transmission BMWs, probably because the auto keeps a constant load on the differential mounts.  The Keyless entry remotes don't work anymore so you have to use the key the old fashion way...in the door lock.

This is a cash only purchase.  There are plenty of banks in this area, so if you have to travel we can always go to your bank to get cash.

This X5 is for sale outside of this auction, I reserve the right to end the auction if it sells else where.

Experience the New York Auto Show by drone

Fri, Apr 10 2015

The Autoblog team recently returned from wildly running around the Javits Center to cover all the news and debuts at the New York Auto Show. Sometimes, it's nice to take a more serene look at the exhibition floor, though, and the event's organizers are providing that exact opportunity by flying a drone through the hall. Combined with the down-tempo music, this clip feels like a form of automotive meditation. If you're going to miss the show in the Big Apple, the drone also provides a good overview at the exhibition floor, especially at the stands from Lexus, Buick, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and BMW. Plus, it's a fun way to see some vehicles from a completely different angle than they ever appear on the road. BMW 8 Series revival not coming anytime soon

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

If you thought the BMW Gran Lusso Coupe concept that was shown at Villa d'Este a few months back was a preview of a new BMW 8 Series, prepare to be disappointed. According to a report from the UK's Autocar, BMW officials have "rejected suggestions" that a production model based on the concept was coming. To be fair, though, would you expect them to just acknowledge it?
The Brits seem to be thinking the same, as the story went on to quote BMW research and development chief, Herbert Diess, who claimed, "We're looking into the possibility of production, but a decision is still a way off." Diess also points out that it's far too early for anything to be confirmed, seeing as how the concept only debuted about 10 weeks ago.
The well-received Gran Lusso was penned by Pininfarina and motivated by a brawny, twelve-cylinder engine. If it were to enter production, it'd likely sit at the top of BMW's gas-powered offerings, and would compete against the Mercedes-Benz CL AMG and Bentley Continental GT.
