I have up for bid a very clean 2001 BMW 4.4L AWD that is the 8 Cylinder.  This Vehicle as too many great options to name! It's the same exact engine that is in the Range Rovers and the 7-series BMW's.  It has new valve cover gaskets, timing guides, rails and tensioners. It's basically a brand new engine. It's costed me $2000 to fix. I have the receipt, work order and proof that I will copy for you. You won't have to do this for another 150,000 miles. And it comes with a 6-month warranty on the repair from the mechanic that I'll pass on to the buyer.  There is no deal on eBay or anywhere that comes with a warranty of any kind.  The vehicle's color is white.  And it's in immaculate condition. The only flaw is the driver seat cracking.  Otherwise it's nearly flawless. The stereo system has an added 12 cd changer but the amplifier isn't working, so you will need to replace that in order to get the rear speakers to play. Also, the driver side rear lower arm bushings squeak when you go over bumps. Overall, the car drives excellent with no problems. No overheating, no leaks.  If you want to come and pick it up, it's very reliable and will drive anywhere you need to go in the US.  Shipping anywhere in the US for this vehicle will be anywhere from $250-1100.  I'm very honest and straightforward. So I can be reached at 305.803.1111 for any questions or information.

Thanks!

BMW patents strange three-cylinder pushrod engines, perhaps for cruiser motorcycle

Thu, Mar 12 2015

For decades BMW's motorcycles were easily identified by the two opposed cylinders sticking out of each side of the bike. While you can still find this layout on some of its products, these days the company also uses a variety of other layouts, depending on the model line. Based on European patents, there might even be a Bimmer in the ranks eventually with an absolutely bizarre-looking W3 configuration. BMW actually has two separate patents on these W3 designs, and both of them have the goal of cramming three cylinders into the space of a traditional V-twin. The first splays the cylinder out into a fan shape with pushrods operating the valves. The description submitted to the World Intellectual Property Organization describes the solution as, "The embodiment according to the invention represents an as of yet unknown type of W-3 reciprocating piston internal combustion engine having cylinder angles which can be largely freely sized." The other solution is more of a modification to the traditional V-twin. Two of the cylinders share a crankpin, but the third has its own and is positioned inside the angle of the V. It's a very odd-looking engine. With BMW's assertion that these designs are meant to fit in place of a traditional V-twin, Jalopnik speculates that they could be for a future cruiser from the company, and that would make sense. While brand offers a line of sport tourers with the K1600 line, it doesn't have something more classic to take on the likes of the Ducati Diavel. Creating such a weird engine would probably grab early interest from riders.

Daimler, BMW, Audi consortium nabs Nokia maps for $2.72B

Wed, Jul 22 2015

A consortium of German automakers made up of Daimler, BMW, and Audi has reportedly banded together to buy Nokia's Here mapping division for the equivalent of about $2.7 billion. The particulars of the deal aren't yet official but could be announced at the end of July. Reuters claims that this info comes from anonymous insiders speaking to Manager Magazin in Germany. It might be too soon, however, to declare a buyer. Reuters also spoke to two other insiders, and they said that no deal has been completed yet. None of the firms involved has officially spoken about the negotiations. Some of the other bidders for the division have reportedly bowed out. Here is a high-definition digital mapping company that controls about 70 percent of the auto market. The company has a fleet of vehicles with cameras and LIDAR (pictured above) to generate all of the necessary information. It also partners with trucking companies to use their GPS data. Nokia started looking for potential buyers for Here earlier this year. Tech giants that reportedly included Uber and Apple were rumored to be interested, while German automakers also teamed up to submit a joint bid in part to protect their access to the maps. On paper, Here is only valued at around $785 million, but a sale in the billions now seems assured. BMW 1 Series GT spied in 7-seat trim

Mon, 20 May 2013

As BMW prepares to introduce its first-ever front-wheel drive car, the upcoming 1 Series GT, it looks like there will be at least two versions of the car. A conventional-looking hatchback was spotted testing late last year, but now we see an extended-length version in order to accommodate a third row of seats.
Judging by these spy shots, this 1 Series GT prototype has received an extended wheelbase, larger rear doors and more upright D-pillars compared to our previous spy shots (show in the gallery below) all with the aim of creating additional passenger and cargo space. Like the smaller 1 Series GT, this longer model would likely carry over the same powertrain options, which are expected to consist of three- and four-cylinder engines, a hybrid system and the choice of front- or all-wheel drive. The 1 Series GT could make its debut this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but we might have to wait until next year to see the people mover.
