CONDITION REPORT:

EXTERIOR: The exterior of the vehicle is very clean and very much flawless. All body parts are factory original and factory paint is very shiny. I use Quanix paint meter to check for a previous paintwork/bodywork and none has been detected. There is no major dents, dings, chips, scratches or other visible damage. The glass is in great condition. Only exception I could find anywhere on the car was just a couple of very minor micro chips on the front mask and meticulously repaired scratches on the left corner of front bottom bumper cover. The repair was perfect and if I would not tell you, you would never find out. The vehicle is in a showroom clean condition. The car had to be garaged while not in use. This BMW looks gorgeous.

INTERIOR: The interior is exceptionally clean. The leather seats are in great condition with no sign of abuse. There is no rips, holes or stains. The carpet and floor mats are very clean. The car was previously owned by a non-smoker.

MECHANICAL: Everything is in 100% working order. The car is covered under full BMW Certified "CPO" warranty with 24 hour Road side assistance until 06/30/2015 or 100,000 miles on odometer. All tires have more then 70% of lifetime remaining. Front brakes are as new and the rear brakes have more then 50% remaining. The car has been serviced. The next scheduled maintenance service is due in about 9,000 miles.

Thermal imagery of BMW M4 DTM pit stop is red hot

A pit stop is a pit stop, right? The race car pulls in, the crew changes the tires, pumps in some fuel, maybe swaps out a busted body panel or squeegees the windshield, and off it goes for another heat. Only pit stops have become the focus of news lately for a number of reasons, whether it's because of mishaps (like the ones that prompted F1 to ban mid-race refueling), new time records (due largely to said ban) or interesting new ways to film the fast-paced action.
A few weeks ago we brought you footage of an IndyCar pit stop filmed from multiple angles courtesy of Google Glass. Now BMW has released a brief clip of one of its M4 DTM racers coming in for fresh rubber, all filmed by infrared camera. Its the kind of technology BMW uses to help optimize its German touring cars for competition, and now the Bavarian outfit has released some footage for fans to enjoy.
The resulting thermal imagery gives you an idea of how hot the car runs (and where the heat is emanating from), how warm they get the fresh rubber before they get it onto the car, and what kind of temperatures the pit crew is subjected to. Look closely enough in the 25-second video below and you'll even see the heat sputtering out of the exhaust pipes as the M4 downshifts into its pit box. (Just don't try adjusting your speakers, the clip is without audio.)

2015 BMW Alpina B6 Gran Coupe challenges the M6 in New York

Despite being a well-respected outfit for decades, Alpina remains something of a mystery to many stateside BMW fans. In Europe, Alpina has established itself as a first-rate source for breathed-upon high-performance Bimmers, and it's looking to continue picking up traction on our shores. The US has received a handful of Alpina models through BMW factory channels, namely the 7-Series-based B7, and now we're getting another fast four-door with the debut of the BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe at today's 2014 New York Auto Show.
The B6 Gran Coupe stands as an interesting sibling to the factory's M6 Grand Coupe. Both are propelled by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, but the tunes are quite different. The Alpina produces 540 horsepower and 540 pound-feet of torque, which is 20 hp less than the M6, but with 40 lb-ft more torque. An eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive mean that the B6 is about half a second quicker to 60 miles per hour than BMW's own creation. Plus, the B6 has an unrestricted top speed of 198 mph, making it one seriously rapid 6 Series Gran Coupe.
The sport sedan also wears other Alpina goodies like 20-inch versions of the brand's 21-spoke wheels and exclusive color options. The B6 Gran Coupe goes for $118,225 (including destination), and will be available through BMW dealers immediately after the auto show ends. More info about the B6 is in the release below.
