********** 2010 BMW M6 COUPE **********
THE M6 IS BMW'S CURRENT PERFORMANCE-LUXURY FLAGSHIP, BASED ON THE 6-SERIES COUPE OR CONVERTIBLE BUT REDESIGNED BY
THE "M" PERFORMANCE DIVISION AND DIFFERING CONSIDERABLY FROM A REGULAR 6 IN DETAIL. IN THE ENGINE BAY, THE 650I'S
360-HORSEPOWER 4.8-LITER V8 IS REPLACED BY A 5.0-LITER V10 WITH AN 8250-RPM REDLINE, MATCHED EITHER TO A SIX-SPEED
MANUAL OR SEVEN-SPEED AUTOMATED SEQUENTIAL MANUAL SMG GEARBOX. THE SUSPENSION IS UPRATED TO MATCH THE INCREASED
POWER, AND BODYWORK MODIFIED SUITABLY FOR IMPROVED COOLING, LIGHTER WEIGHT, AND GREATER DOWNFORCE. DESPITE THE
LARGER ENGINE AND OTHER MODIFICATIONS, CURB WEIGHT IS ONLY UP BY ABOUT 100 POUNDS THANKS IN PART TO USE OF CARBON
FIBER, THERMOPLASTIC, AND ALUMINUM IN PLACE OF STEEL FOR BODY PANELS.
STUNNING IS THE BEST WORD TO DESCRIBE ITS PERFORMANCE. THE 5.0-LITER V-10-POWERED M6 OFFERS A WHOPPING 500
HORSEPOWER OF OUTPUT FOR BLAZINGLY QUICK TIMES OF 4.5 AND 4.6 SECONDS FOR THE SEQUENTIAL-MANUAL EQUIPPED COUPE AND
CONVERTIBLE, RESPECTIVELY. ALL MODELS ARE ELECTRONICALLY LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM SPEED OF 155 MPH. THE M6 IS AVAILABLE
WITH EITHER A SEVEN-SPEED SEQUENTIAL MANUAL OR A TRADITIONAL SIX-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION.
LEST YOU THINK THAT THE M6 IS ALL PERFORMANCE AND NO COMFORT, NO. IT'S EVEN BETTER-EQUIPPED THAN THE REGULAR 650I,
WITH MOST ALL OF THE MODERN COMFORT, CONVENIENCE, AND SAFETY ITEMS STANDARD OR AT LEAST READILY AVAILABLE. GRAND
TOURING AT IT'S GRANDEST, THE M6 IS FAR FROM BEING A RACE CAR. AND WHILE IT'S HARDLY INEXPENSIVE, SOMETHING WITH
SIMILAR PERFORMANCE FROM FERRARI OR LAMBORGHINI IS CONSIDERABLY MORE, AND LIKELY DOESN'T HAVE ROOM FOR TWO IN THE
REAR AND A REAL TRUNK. AN M6 IS UNLIKELY TO BE USED AS A DAILY DRIVER OR COMMUTER, BUT IT COULD BE. IT'S THAT
UN-TEMPERAMENTAL. BUT DON'T BE FOOLED BY THAT, ESPECIALLY IN THE ENGINE'S SWEET SPOT IT'S A VICIOUSLY QUICK PIECE
OF ULTRA-CIVILIZED MACHINERY.
THIS 2010 BMW M6 COUPE IS IN OVERALL EXCELLENT CONDITION. ALL WARRANTIES ARE TRANSFERABLE.

BMW Smart Charging App helps drivers charge for less
Tue, Jun 10 2014As electric vehicles proliferate and people try to conserve energy, moves toward smart charging seem only natural. Now, BMW is offering smarter charging, and it should mean more money in the pockets of its customers when they charge at home. BMW owners who drive one of the company's i vehicles will be able to use the BMW Smart Charging App that taps into a national energy rate database (powered by Genability) to allow drivers to automate charging during off-peak hours when electricity usage costs are lower. Charging vehicles at these lower rates could save drivers as much as $400 a year, BMW says. It's a simple idea, but one that could make BMW's EVs even more attractive to potential customers. The BMW Smart Charging App is initially available to customers who have leased a BMW ActiveE from the company's 2012 test fleet, a group whom BMW dubs Electronauts, and many of whom are also early adopters of the BMW i3. The app will then become available to all BMW i3 and i8 customers beginning in 2015. The Smart Charging App is integrated with the BMW i Remote App, which links with the BMW ConnectedDrive interface to also allow drivers to monitor charging times and vehicle status, adjust charging settings and even adjust vehicle temperature so the car is ready before the driver gets in the vehicle. The Smart Charging App is available for iOS and Android devices. Find more information in the press release from BMW below. BMW Launches First App to Automate the Home Charging Process for BMW i Electric Vehicles. 09.06.2014 BMW Smart Charging App Determines Optimal Times for Charging Electric Vehicles Based on Rates and Calculates Cost. Woodcliff Lake, NJ – June 9, 2014... The new BMW Smart Charging App makes it possible for BMW i customers to automatically identify the best rates and times for charging their electric vehicles at home. Developed by the BMW Group and available for Android and iOS devices, the BMW Smart Charging App is integrated with the BMW i Remote App, which allows drivers to get vehicle information via their smartphone. The BMW Smart Charging App has the potential to save customers as much as $400 annually on their electric bills. BMW is the first automotive manufacturer to offer this automated and fully integrated functionality. In its initial phase, the BMW Smart Charging App is currently available to BMW Electronauts.
BMW seeks partners for electric Mini, could make it an all-EV brand
Wed, Nov 29 2017LOS ANGELES — Germany's BMW is talking with other automakers "around the world" to try to find partners to lower the cost of electrifying its future Mini small cars, management board member Peter Schwarzenbauer told Reuters. "We are talking to many OEMs (manufacturers) around the world, not only in China, (about) how to electrify smaller cars," Schwarzenbauer said. "There's no final conclusion on it." Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor said last month it was discussing a possible venture to build Mini vehicles in China. BMW currently does not build Mini vehicles outside Europe. Schwarzenbauer declined to discuss the Great Wall situation, saying "this was speculation." However, he said building smaller electric cars was challenging, not only because of the financial costs, but also the engineering problem of fitting batteries with sufficient range into a smaller vehicle package. BMW has worked with rivals before to share the costs of clean vehicle technology. The automaker has a partnership with Toyota to develop fuel cell vehicles. BMW has said it plans to launch a new, electric Mini model in 2019. Eventually, Mini could become an entirely electric brand aimed at urban consumers, Schwarzenbauer said. Mini sales in the United States have fallen 10 percent through the first 10 months of this year, as demand for many smaller cars has waned in favor of sport-utility vehicles and trucks. "It's really only in the U.S. where we are facing this with Mini," Schwarzenbauer said. BMW will not try to reverse that trend by adding larger SUVs to the Mini lineup, Schwarzenbauer said. Instead, he said, "the way for Mini in the U.S. is ... building the Mini brand in the direction of the electric urban mobility company." On a separate issue, Schwarzenbauer said BMW intended to offer a self-driving car planned to debut in 2021 at a price that could be below $100,000. The iNEXT model, which BMW previewed earlier this year, will be offered to individuals, ride services fleets and put into service in BMW fleets, Schwarzenbauer said. "By 2021, you will have a lot of people who want to own this car," he said. "It will be a normal price. We are thinking of scaling this. To bring a $150,000 electric car is nice, but it will not really scale." When it launches, the iNEXT may not be offered with complete, so-called Level 5, autonomy because the regulatory and legal frameworks for such a vehicle likely won't be in place, Schwarzenbauer said.
Consumer Reports' first motorcycle reliability report finds Japanese brands ahead
Sat, 22 Feb 2014Consumer Reports has released its first ever study of motorcycle reliability, and students of its ratings on cars might notice a suspicious similarity - Japanese brands require fewer repairs than the leading American or German brands.
The study analyzed the reliability of 4,680 bikes owned by CR subscribers and found that Yamaha had the best ratings, with just one in ten bikes built between 2009 and 2012 requiring a repair over a four-year period. The makers of the R1 and R6 sport bikes were closely followed by Kawasaki and Honda, while one out of every four of the rumbling bikes from Harley-Davidson experienced an issue. BMW had the worst rating of the brands represented, with one in three bikes having problems.
According to CR, neither Suzuki nor Triumph owners provided enough information for a reliable rating. Based on the responses received, though, Suzuki would have finished with the other Japanese brands and Triumph, being English, would have been one of the less reliable makes.
