Up for your consideration is a piece of automotive history. A collector grade beast of a vehicle. With only 1,767
North American M6 models produced during 1987 to 1989, this stands to be a great classic to enjoy and watch
appreciate at the same time. I have owned this stunning 1987 BMW M6 for just over a year. During my ownership I
have added only 200 miles to her. Since I purchased the car to be garage candy, the mileage will not go up at all.
This is why it only has 86,325, which is extremely low for a car of this age and the reason this car will continue
to see appreciation. Everything works perfectly, except for the headrest motors that seem to be broken on every car
on the market. Aside from that, the car is meticulously maintained and in cherry condition. There are no accidents
on the car and everything is original, except for the B&B exhaust and new springs and struts. The leather headliner
and seats look brand new, minus the drivers seat which has a little wear. The boot to the stick has a tear in it
and the leather dashboard is wrinkling at the corners where it meets the window but otherwise it looks amazing.
This car has the original leather dashboard and leather headliner. I have seen a few M6's selling without those but
this is the factory dash and truly sunning. I have a book of records that came with the car as well as a few
additional pages that reflect the repairs I have had to make. The car fires up every time, shifts gears flawlessly,
and drives like a dream. The car was always garaged and still sits in the garage and under a cover. If you are in
the market for a truly stunning classic that is sure to keep appreciating, this is the car for you. Let me know if
you have any questions.

Someone's willing to pay $16,000 for a hollow, non-working BMW i8
Tue, Aug 26 2014There is an unusual BMW i8 for sale on eBay right now. Unlike your average – and by that we mean "working" – i8, this one pretty much just sits there, looking pretty. See, the i8 in question is just a promotional body shell. It's fullsize and being sold (we think) by a legit BMW dealer (Laurel BMW of Westmont), so it's got strong ties to the real thing, but there's nothing inside. In fact, you can't open the doors or windows and the wheels don't move, unless you count the tiny rolling castors that are a part of the prop. There is no fancy plug-in hybrid powertrain – no powertrain of any sort, in fact – and it was "professionally crafted just for BMW dealers." The headlights do turn on, though, so that's something. What's most impressive, though, is that there are 50 bids for this non-working BMW. In fact, the bidding has climbed up to $16,000. For a car that can't fulfill its mission as a car, that's pretty impressive. Oh, and those bids have not yet hit the reserve price, so the dealer is obviously hoping it can get more money for this hollow BMW. The official base MSRP for a working i8 is $135,700. The first i8 delivered in the US, a special edition for Pebble Beach, just sold for $825,000.
BMW readying impressive track-focused M Power App
Thu, 06 Jun 2013There are a lot of questionable automotive apps that people put on their smartphones these days, but BMW has created what could be one of the most useful and integrated car apps ever. The new M Power App, which will be available this summer only for Apple iPhones, allows BMW owners a whole new way to record their performance on the street or on a track. During the launch of the recent BMW M6 Gran Coupe, BimmerPost was able to get a full demonstration of how this new app works.
Far more involved than the current M Power Meter, the M Power App records data from in-car sensors and acts as a telemetry tool to allow drivers to see how they did on a particular track. Aside from an overlay on a track map showing acceleration and braking applications as well as head-to-head comparisons, the app also shows a line graph of everything from brake and throttle inputs to g-force, fuel mileage and engine speed. A small visual on the screen also shows steering angle, and lap times and speeds can all be stored as well. The data can even be shared with others, whether for bragging rights or instruction purposes.
This app works on any newer BMW equipped with the BMW Apps option, but the phone must be tethered to the car and the data understandably cannot be viewed while driving. Scroll down for the video demonstration recorded recently at Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
BMW Films are on the way back [w/videos]
Mon, 17 Feb 2014The BMW Films series caused a stir in 2001 and 2002 by combining top-quality cinematography, Hollywood names and driving excitement to sell its sporty wares in a whole new way. By arriving five years before YouTube, they ranked as some of the earliest viral videos on the internet. By now, these sorts of films are almost commonplace, but back when BMW hit upon the idea, the idea of brand-integrated short films on the internet was still a novelty. Now, for the first time in over a decade, the German automaker is planning on bringing back BMW Films for a new season.
Trudy Hardy, BMW North America Vice President of Marketing, announced the series' return at the 2014 Automotive News World Congress in Detroit, according to Ad Age. However, neither the German brand nor Anonymous Content, the original production company, have been willing to comment further on when the new videos are coming.
The original series of eight films starred Clive Owen as the Driver (back then, Owen was largely unknown to American audiences), a mercenary who would take a variety of jobs and always drive a BMW. David Fincher executive produced the first season and directors included top names like John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee and Guy Ritchie. All of the second season movies had Owen driving a Z4, but in our estimation, the quality had fallen off a bit compared to the outstanding first season.
