1987 Bmw M6 Base Coupe 2-door 3.5l on 2040-cars
Marietta, Georgia, United States
THE OVER ALL CONDITION IS GREAT. THE PAINT HAS ROAD SAND BLAST PITS, THE CHROME IS WEATHERED, ALL GLASS IS GOOD. THE INTERIOR IS VERY CLEAN AND FUNCTIONAL . ALL INTERIOR EQUIPMENT IS OPERATIONAL. I USED THE CAR TO DRIVE BACK AND FORTH TO NORTH DAYTONA BEACH AND FT. MYERS MANY MANY TIMES. THE FUEL MILEAGE WAS AN UNBELIEVABLE 27.3 MPG , UNLESS YOU KEPT A W.O.T..... THEN IT DROPPED TO 10-12 . THE TOP HALF OF THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REWORKED, AS HAS ALL SUSPENSION , BRAKES , AND STEERING GEAR. ALL FLUIDS HAVE BEEN CHANGED . THERE ARE 222K MILES ON THE CLOCK. THE ENGINE HAS AN ENHANCED ECU CHIP PUTTING THE HORSE POWER AT 321. THE ECU IS A LIVE/TIME ADJUSTABLE CHIP INSTALLED. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN STORAGE FOR 2-3 YEARS AND NOW GARAGED AS IT HAD BEEN BEFORE STORAGE. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IS A VERY LOUD INPUT SHAFT BEARING .[ LOUD] I HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED THE TRANS. BEARINGS ASSORTED OTHER PARTS WHICH WILL GO WITH THE CAR, OR BE PUT IN BEFORE THE CAR GETS SOLD.....I LOVED THE CAR , MY DAUGHTER WANTED THE CAR ....THEN I CAME TO MY SENSES.....FIGURED I'D BETTER GET THE CAR SOLD BEFORE MY ONLY OFFSPRING SETS HER EYES ON IT.

BMW, Sixt carsharing making money most places
Wed, Aug 20 2014The DriveNow carsharing service, which is a partnership between BMW and Sixt, is growing quite rapidly. "We've been surprised about the explosion of new subscriptions, which has helped boost revenue," says Sixt CEO Erich Sixt. The number of DriveNow users has increased from 215,000 at the end of last year to 300,000 today. Sixt says that DriveNow has been profitable in cities in which it has been established for over a year. Perhaps encouraged by its unexpected success, DriveNow is set to expand even further. The service is currently available in five German cities, as well as in San Francisco, California, and the involved parties are considering a five-year plan to expand to 25 more cities in Europe and the US. Still, Sixt expects DriveNow to report a "small-to-medium, single-digit" loss for this year, according to Sixt CFO Julian zu Putlitz. It's no big deal, just the result of startup costs in new areas. Sixt, which is Germany's largest car rental company, also reported that its own second-quarter income rose 12 percent to $37.7 million, while sales rose 7.6 percent to $585.78 million. DriveNow uses a membership and pay-per-minute model that allows customers to rent BMW and Mini vehicles as they need them. The service also acts as a way to let potential customers try out the vehicles and familiarize themselves with the brands before they buy cars of their own at some point. Depending on the location, DriveNow's fleet includes the BMW 1 Series, ActiveE and X1, as well as several Mini vehicles like the Cooper, Clubman and Countryman. BMW 8 Series turns 25 [w/video]
Wed, 04 Jun 2014From the very beginning, the BMW 8 Series was a head turner. It was hardly a common sight in the first place, and the angular lines and low, pointed nose made the GT look like something special on the road. It's been 25 years since the Bavarian brand's flagship coupe of the '90s debuted, and owners celebrated the anniversary in style in Germany.
The 8 Series still looks great today, but its popup headlights give away its age a little. You just don't see them anymore. It was introduced at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show as the 850i with a 5.0-liter V12 under the hood capable of 295 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Later, even bigger V12s would find their way in there. Production lasted until 1999, but they were rather exclusive with 30,621 built in its lifetime.
To celebrate the anniversary, several BMW clubs organized 120 examples for display at the company's headquarters in Munich. The brand took advantage of the display to show off the ultimate 8 prototype as well. The one-off special packed a 550-horsepower V12 and a body with optimized aero. That engine eventually became the basis for the one in the McLaren F1.
Mini Vision Next 100 Concept: It's the autonomy, stupid
Thu, Jun 16 2016The concepts that Mini and Rolls-Royce showed off today – the Vision Next 100 Concept and 103EX, respectively – are all about autonomy. The Rolls-Royce doesn't even have a place for a "driver." And even though both are very much blue sky concepts, corporate parent BMW thinks it will make fully-autonomous cars within the next five years. That's according to Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, MINI, BMW Motorrad, Rolls-Royce, and Aftersales BMW Group, who also told us that both cars, at least in concept, are fully electric. The Rolls-Royce has dual-drive, 250kw motors mounted fore-and aft, on front and rear axles. While the Rolls is clearly a luxury concept for the monied few, the Mini is very much focused on a shared economy. Holger Hampf, Head of User Experience, BMW Group, said the chief design challenge of a car-sharing world is producing a car that could in theory mean different things to different borrowers. You get exclusivity because each car would morph according to the borrower's desires. BMW/Mini already have a car-sharing program in London called DriveNow, and a pilot program in Seattle called ReachNow, focused on the idea of shared exclusivity. ReachNow, which allows Mini/BMW owners to lend their cars out in an AirBnB-type scheme or to borrow "fleet-style cars," are immutable – however the car that was ordered is what the borrower or the owner will get. That's great if you're the owner, but it's also challenging for both anyone who'd buy that car used or for anyone borrowing the car. And if the future of most cars is a shared model (Ford is now offering multi-person leases among up to six buyers in a pilot program in Austin, Texas), customization is impossible. The result is what Schwarzenbauer derogatorily calls "normed." He says carmakers have to relearn to brand for a world where ownership is devalued but customization is key. To that end the MINI VISION NEXT 100 is "skinned." We've seen this before with the BMW NEXT concept that was revealed at the NY Auto Show this past spring, and the idea is to use the exterior of the car as a canvass that changes according to setting. Indeed Mini envisions that in a multi-driver household, the vehicle's customization could easily include changing colors according to driver preference – automatically. Dr.
