2006 Bmw M5 - Two Owners; Housed In California 2006-2011; $25k In New Parts on 2040-cars
Highland Park, Illinois, United States
M5 Owned & Maintained by an M-Fanatic Note: I have comprehensively updated the description to a level of detail which reflects the level put into the car’s upkeep (and to which BMW M fanatics would expect). I also have extensive documentation to certify all claims made within the listing (e.g. service records; owner/location history) Overview: An exceptionally maintained example, this E60 M5 has more than $25k in new parts and has been a California car for most of its life until recently coming to Chicago (early 2012) – during which time it has been garaged during the winter with the exception of unseasonably warm and dry days (it has summer tires, so driving in snow isn't really an option). I am the second owner and purchased the vehicle as BMW CPO vehicle w/an extended warranty. The vehicle’s extensive documentation as well as its service, storage and usage histories put it above most pre-owned M5s on the market in terms of future cost of ownership, reliability, future potential resale value and quality among other factors. Most interested parties will be thoroughly familiar with the M5's pedigree. However, for those unfamiliar with the model, the M5 boasts performance on level with sports cars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, Etc. and is widely considered to be the unrivaled leader of its class. “The Ferrari-Slayer: Any doubts about the new M5's right to be called Heinz the Ferrari-Slayer disappeared almost as fast as the traffic being pulled backwards by God s almighty hand.” - Jalopnik Reviews: BMW M5, Part 1 The Basics: Sapphire Metallic Black; Black Leather & Aluminum Trim; SMG; 69,900 miles (approx); Second-OwnerCommunication: Interested buyers are free to set up a time to view the car in person or have it inspected at BMW service center. Please contact via my mobile phone (312.415.9565) if you have questions or would like to set an in-person showing. Headlines –The Top Things You Need to Know About this M5 · $25,000+ in New Parts: You may be able to find M5s that are marginally cosmetically superior, but in terms of mechanical condition, this car has a no expense-spared service and maintenance history. Major new parts, include catalytic converters, clutch, brakes, oil cooler and battery/alternator among others since I purchased the vehicle – most of which came within the last 10-20k miles. This means that in the long-haul, this car will be more reliable, cheaper to maintain and hold its value better than other pre-owned M5s on the market. Verifying documents are provided below. · Service History: Because the car has been under warranty during the entirety of my ownership, I have been vigilant of following up on even the most minor of suspicions of a problem (e.g. the car was taken in simply because of a minor noise when turning sharply at low-speed when the car was still cold – the solution was a special final drive differential fluid). Similarly, routine maintenance such as oil services and routine inspections have been taken care of like clockwork. · Storage & Environment: Until two years ago, this car had lived exclusively in California. It is a well-known fact that California’s warm and dry conditions optimally preserve a vehicle’s paint, chassis and other metal components. It is routine for CA vehicles to go decades without even minor rust while vehicles in cold-weather climates often show rust within as little as 24 months. Since coming to Chicago, the vehicle has lived in a dry, warm and pristine garage. More importantly, the car has never been driven in snow or while salt is on the road. The absence of rust anywhere on the chassis will attest to this fact. · Owner, Usage & CPO History: It goes without saying that this car, a heavy four-door sedan, has never been driven on a track or in any other similar fashion. This car’s mileage is about 70% highway, 30% city. I purchased the car at 19k miles from Bob Smith BMW as a certified pre-owned and am the second owner. In this rare case I happen to know the first owner and am willing to put you in touch with him and/or the ownership of Bob Smith BMW who can confirm the vehicle/usage history. · Extensive Documentation: Because the proof is in the pudding, I have all service records digitally available in PDF form for prospective buyers to examine as well as a physical binder complete with all service invoices as well as other documentation from the original window sticker to warranty agreements to the BMW CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED inspection/guarantee. · Service Providers: With rare exception, all service has been performed at three dealerships and one independent mechanic: the majority of the services and repairs were performed at dealerships Bob Smith BMW in Calabasas, CA and Santa Monica BMW. In Chicago, repairs have been performed by dealership Perillo BMW and independent R&N Bavarian - arguably, the most highly-rated and trust independent BMW servicer in Chicago and whose owners/mechanics are former Perillo technicians. This is confirmed by their perfect 5-star rating (48 reviews). · Exterior: The paint and body is in 9/10 shape with the exception of a scrape on the front, driver-side fender, which would cost approximately $700-1,000 for a factory new fix or about $400-$500 for a touch-up that would only be visible if you were proactively searching for it. There is a minor scuff on the rear, passenger-side fender which would be only minor expense to mend. The wheels are in pristine condition. · Cilajet Protection & Nine-Year Warranty: A Boeing approved, commercial aerospace product, which is applied to paint and wheel to slow corrosion and resists contaminants. It is not a wax, polish or Teflon like other coatings commonly used in automotive detailing. It is a true anti-corrosive sealant which, when professionally applied, bonds to painted and metal surfaces at the micron level, giving them a mirror-like finish. See more at: http://www.cilajet.com/index.html#sthash.8PIcJdzi.dpuf · Interior: The interior is in great condition – a 9.5 out of 10. Even the trunk is pristine. · Modifications: As is most desirable, this car has not been modified mechanically in any way. The only cosmetic modification is a black kidney grill. Beyond that, an AUX jack has been installed in the glove compartment to allow users to connect MP3/similar devices to the audio system. · Options: While many sellers claim their car is “fully loaded,” this car is and includes the heads up hologram display, suede headliner, active seats. BMW i3 configurator is so advanced it's replaced trim levels
Fri, 25 Apr 2014BMW's electric i3 is slowly marching its way to dealers. It might not be happening quite fast enough for customers, though. For you anxious individuals, head over to the BMW consumer website and build your ideal i3 in the new configurator.
Before we talk about all the stuff this build tool can do, we need to address the naming of BMW's trim levels for the EV hatchback. The 328i, for example, is available in Sport Line, M Sport Line and Luxury Line. That's good; it makes sense. The i3, though, has Giga World, Tera World and Mega World. Seriously. We've no idea what BMW was thinking when it came up with this (this is the same company that regularly uses the phrase "Sport Activity Vehicle," so...).
Silly names aside, let's try and translate where each trim fits in. The Mega World is the base trim. The Giga, at $1,700, adds stylish leather-and-wool seats in a clean two-tone color scheme, along with 19-inch wheels and a leather-covered IP. The Tera World demands $2,700, but makes up for it with its own 19-inch wheels and a full leather interior. Both lines (worlds?) add satellite radio and eucalyptus wood trim.
BMW Z8, Lambo LM002 sell for $192,500 apiece in Detroit [w/poll]
Wed, Jul 29 2015Think a car are a bad investment? That all depends on what kind of car you're talking about. Because while most cars depreciate in value as soon as you drive them off the lot, others can do even better than hold their value. The cars that appreciate tend to be pretty high-end exotics, but they don't have to be multi-million-dollar classics to command a premium at auction. Just look at the results from RM Sotheby's Motor City sale in Detroit this past weekend. The auction house moved a solid $7.4 million worth of metal, which is pretty impressive when you consider that – unlike events at Lake Como or Pebble Beach – not one of the lots dipped into seven figures. 1930s-era American classics performed the strongest, with Duesenbergs, Packards, Auburns and the like all fetching hundreds of thousands. But what intrigued us most were the European exotics that rounded the top ten results. Amidst the Depression-era American steel were a BMW Z8 from 2001 and a 1988 Lamborghini LM002, each of which sold for an equal $192,500. Hardly the highest figures paid for European exotics this year, but considering how much they were worth just a few years ago, they've proven solid investments. BMW only made 5,703 examples of the Henrik Fisker-designed retro Z8, of which only 2,543 were brought to the United States, where they originally sold for $128,000. The most anyone had ever paid for one at auction, according to Sports Car Market, was $184,082, just this past March at Silverstone. That makes the price achieved this weekend a new record for one of the slinkiest vehicles the Bavarian automaker has ever made, representing an impressive 50-percent increase in value over the course of fourteen years. This particular example – chassis WBAEJ13481AH60437 for those keeping track – is decked out in silver over black, with less than 15,500 miles on the odometer. This Rambo Lambo was produced early in the 301-unit production run, with the sought-after carbureted engine and 32,000 miles on the clock. It didn't set any records at the same price, other examples of the LM002 having traded over the past few years for over $200k. But considering that Sant'Agata originally charged around $120-130k for the SUV when it was new, its selling price still represents about 50-percent appreciation (leaving inflation aside).
Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.
