2006 Bmw M5 Base Sedan V10 With Performance And Custom Modifications Show Ready on 2040-cars
Greenfield, Massachusetts, United States
Up for auction here is our beautiful 2006 BMW M5 Base sedan. This Modified M5 is in mint condition. All Modifications are are bolt on and the engine has not been altered. This M5 has been maintained always before the recomended intervals, and has always been kept very clean and waxed with premium products. I am the second owner of this car. I purchased this car from the original owner with 38,588 miles. This M5 received fresh rubber approximately 1000 miles ago. The exterior condition is fantastic for the age with very mimimal flaws and the interior shows in the same fashion. There is a small amount of wear on the driver side seat bolster from entering and exiting the seat but overall the interior looks great. This has been an extra vehicle that has spent more time being cleaned and sitting in the garage than being driven. The only reason for the sale of this incredible machine is that between work and our little one we feel that just letting this car sit would be a crime. Henceforthe, here it is for sale so that it may go to a home where it will not only be appreciated for being the "Ultimate Driving Machine" but also actually be driven. Car Fax does show an accident with this car. A DHL truck scraped the rear bumper while she was parked. The DHL driver had to report the incident. The rear bumper only had to be lightly worked and resprayed. The work was done by a professional shop with spay booth/oven. Bumper is showroom finish. I do have a copy of the police report for the accident with the DHL truck but it was not readable in the picture so I can email a scanned copy to anyone who would like to see the report. Below is a list of modifications and additions that have been made to the car. All performance work and any paint work was performed at premium professional shops. No shortcuts were taken with this car: Peformance Modifications: 1) Supersprint Headers purchased in 2007. $15,000 installled 2) Eisenmann Race exhaust $4,000 installed 3 )Active Autowerks stage II performance software $1,500 4 )Active Autowerks pulley system $700 installed 5) RPI ram air scoops with BMC drop in air filters. BMW 4 Series configurator comes online
Mon, 08 Jul 2013The best money in the world might be configurator money - you never run out of it and you can never spend it the wrong way. We hope you're ready to dip into your configurator savings account, because it's time to start speccing out the 2014 BMW 4 Series, the coupe having just arrived in the virtual world.
There are four possible opening gambits: the 428i for $40,500, the 428i xDrive for $42,500, the 435i for $46,000 or the 435i xDrive for $48,000. After you've chosen your first move, there are three trim options: the $1,400 Luxury Line that features lots of chrome and wood (shown), the $1,700 Sport Line that adds lots of gloss black and contrasting trim color and stitching, or the $3,100 M Sport that offers the M Estoril Blue hue and lots of M-division specific accessories.
Starting with the 435i xDrive and M Sport, we then added items like the 19-inch wheels ($900), the Dynamic Handling Package ($1,000), Cold Weather Package ($700), Premium Package ($2,200), Tech Package ($3,150) and the Lighting Package ($1,900) on top of any other box we could check. The total, after the $925 destination and handling charge: $66,749.
2014 BMW 320i
Tue, 24 Dec 2013When BMW switched its entry level 3 Series, the 328i, from a naturally aspirated, 3.0-liter six-cylinder to a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder, we weren't entirely sure what to think. Sure, from a pure numbers perspective, the new 2.0-liter cooked the old 3.0's goose, delivering more torque at far more accessible engine speeds while boosting horsepower and fuel economy.
While we miss that revvy six-pot, the numbers for the 2.0 were just way too good to pass up. Then we received news of an even less-powerful 2.0-liter 3 Series - the 320i. This was interesting, as it saw BMW delving into a power level previously owned solely by the anemic Lexus IS 250 and its six-cylinder engine.
Could BMW make a sub-200-horsepower sedan that still drove the way we expected a 3 Series to drive? To find out, we borrowed the new 320i for a week of testing.
Why won't automakers slap on a turbo badge anymore?
Thu, Sep 10 2015Where have all the turbos gone? Not the actual pieces that go in the engine, mind you, those are everywhere these days as automakers downsize cylinder counts and boost efficiency and CO2 claims. But the turbo badges and fanfare are missing. Back when turbos were something to get excited about there was "turbo-driven," "turbonium," and "The Turbo Zone," among other silly lines. But now that basically every car is getting some sort of boost even on the lowliest trims, automakers are almost sliding in the turbos under the radar. Or if you look at some of the nomenclature, pretending they don't exist at all. The 911 Turbo badge shows where the car goes from being sane to lunatic. It's an important border. The latest automaker to hide that it has boosted the turbo presence is Porsche with the 2017 911 lineup. Even the standard Carrera models now get turbocharged flat-six engines, meaning the 911 Turbo models aren't quite as special as they once were. Porsche is in a sticky situation with this. The 911 Turbo, after all, signifies where the 911 family takes off from being a sports car and becomes the Ferrari fighter. The 911 Turbo badge shows where the car goes from being sane to lunatic. It's an important border, but now Porsche has crossed it and is trying to downplay the fact. There are a lot of exaggerations with displacement badges today, with claims the 2.0-liter turbo four in a Mercedes C Class equates to a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter six to make a C300. Volvo is pretty far up there, too, saying an XC90 T8 means V8 power, even though it's a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four with electric assist. I don't know why BMW can't just call the car a 330i Turbo, rather than inflating the numbers up to 340i. Saab tried all of this back in the '90s when it decided to turbocharge its entire lineup, from light pressure units all the way up to models actually called "Saab 9-3 HOT" (for high-output turbo). But then the brand deleted any external reference to the turbo under the hood and people wondered why they were buying a $42,000 four-cylinder convertible. And that didn't turn out well. Even though these turbo replacements often make more power than their naturally aspirated predecessors, they're very different engines. People knew something changed when they exchanged their leased 328i with a 3.0-liter six for a 328i with a 2.0-liter turbo four.
