Absolutely stunning 2003 BMW M5 in Sterling Grey with extended Caramel leather interior. With 116,750 miles, this car actually has below-average miles for the year, and it shows. Sure, there are some rock chips on the hood and maybe a door ding on the side, but there is no rust. There is no peeling paint, all the trim is shiny and intact, the seats show a bit of wear but again far less than average. The carpets are clean and odor-free, the new OE floormats are spotless. I have some but not all service records, showing that the previous owners have never spared any expense in maintaining this car properly, the way it is supposed to be maintained. I don't want to bash the other cars for sale, but odds are that most any other M5 that you would be considering in this price range (and especially the cheaper ones) has deferred and neglected maintenance, and will need some mechanical repairs and cosmetic attention. This car needs none of that. Everything is up-to-date, everything works, and the car runs like a champ! You can pay less for an M5, but you won't save any money.
The extended leather interior means that the door panels, upper and lower dashboard, console, sun visors and of course the seats are all covered in the gorgeous caramel leather. Standard M5 features include alcantara headliner, that fabulous S62 V8 engine, six-speed manual transmission, navigation, CD changer (yes, it works too!) and all of the other stuff too numerous to list. Also included is an iPod adapter that runs through the original stereo system. The plug for that is right up front next to the cupholders. As yes, even the cupholders work too! The instrument panel pixel display has been repaired, the rear view mirror has been repaired, the thrust arm bushings have been replaced, and the car has new front tires and a recent oil change as well as recent brake fluid flush. When I say it needs nothing, I mean it! Fly in and drive this puppy home without a worry! RDU airport is between my house and my work, so I can pick you up there whenever you want to come get your car. It's waiting for you, but it won't be here for too long! Please email with any questions. |

Recharge Wrap-up: Grimsel electric car breaks acceleration world record, electric Ford Raptor ATV debuts
Sun, Nov 16 2014An all-electric version of the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is now available... as an ATV. Made by Caddyshack Golf Cars, it features officially licensed Ford badging borrowed from the super-macho pickup. It has a lifted chassis with leaf springs in the front and rear, hydraulic shocks and off-road tires. Powered by a 48-volt motor, it can do 0-25 mph in 2.9 seconds. Range is an estimated 30 miles - plenty to get you through 18 of the most rugged holes of golf you've ever played. Caddyshack also offers other miniature electric Fords, including a Shelby GT500, Shelby Cobra and 50th Anniversary Mustang. Read more at Green Car Reports. Lexus takes a crack at the BMW i3 in a new video from Funny or Die. In the decidedly anti-EV film, a group of guys drives to Las Vegas for a "dad-chelor party" in a Lexus CT 200h and a BMW i3. The Lexus hybrid makes it to Sin City without any problems, while the BMW's occupants need to make several lengthy stops to charge along the way, missing much of the fun. The video lampoons the inherent range limitations of the EV (the BMW group ends up driving slowly through the desert with no AC or radio to save energy), all in a well produced, if somewhat misguided, short comedy film. Perhaps they should have considered the i3 with a range extender? See the video below, or read more at Green Car Reports. Students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University have set a new EV acceleration world record. Their "Grimsel" racing car was able to zoom from 0-100 kph (0-62.137 mph) in just 1.785 seconds in less than 30 meters (98.425 feet), crushing the previous record of 2.134 seconds. Even more impressive is that the Grimsel was built by the students themselves, as part of the Formula Student team at the Academic Motorsports Club Zurich. The car weighs just 370 pounds and provides 200 horsepower and 1,202 pound feet of torque from the four hub motors. The Grimsel uses traction control to manage torque for maximum acceleration. See the record acceleration run in the videos below or read more at Gizmag, at Electric Autosport or in the press release from ETH Zurich below. 'grimsel' breaks world record The 'grimsel' electric racing car today broke the previous world record for acceleration in electric cars. The vehicle accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.785 seconds in under 30 metres. The new record was set by students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, who also designed and built the vehicle.
2015 BMW M3 Sedan
Tue, 20 May 2014BMW's all-new M3 Sedan is dynamically nearly identical to its two-door M4 Coupe sibling: a stopwatch reveals that both are sub-four-second cars to 60 miles per hour, a racetrack proves that the mechanical twins are equally as adept on a road course and a full afternoon of driving on public roads demonstrates that each possesses talented everyday adaptability.
Yet after driving both BMW models back-to-back over two full days in Portugal, it's clear there are a few noticeable differences, both objective and subjective, that don't require instrument testing to reveal. All it takes is a few hours behind the wheel of both cars to conclude that one is slightly more agile, and the other a bit more twitchy. One has better outward visibility, while its counterpart is unquestionably more convenient.
It is the little things - subtleties attained through seat-of-the-pants observations - that eventually allow me to choose a favorite.
