2001 Bmw E39 M5 Low Mileage, Excellent Condition on 2040-cars
Milford, Connecticut, United States
I have have performed some small touch-up paint fixes but these are not noticeable unless looking very closely. I have owned the M5 for slightly less than a year. I love the car but have recently purchased another sports car, so unfortunately, the M5 has to go. ** Carfax shows an accident around 26K miles if I remember correctly? I bought the car with about 60K and have experienced no evidence of the accident. My BMW mechanic sees nothing to cause him any concern also. The engine sounds fantastic and pulls very strong. It is a true beast. I have the paperwork on all of the repairs / upgrades I've performed on the car. All work was done by a local BMW specialist. What I have done is the following: o engine work required in order for the car to pass CT emissions, work performed, car passed with no problem o 2 Mass Air Flow Sensors just replaced o New Water Pump installed o New Fuel Filter o Air & Cabin Filters replaced o Castrol Edge Synthetic oil change o New right rear tail lamp installed o New inner hood liner (insulation) o The car came with a center armrest/car phone holder. It offered no storage. I installed a small storage compartment (meant for the M5) All parts are BMW OEM, no generic, no-name parts used. I personally machine polished & waxed the car in Sep'13. 3 new OEM M5 refurbished wheels. Unmarked, like new., no curb rash or dings. One note on the wheels - they should all be "shadow line" which is kind of a gun-metal. I originally replaced 3 wheels in Jul'13 and I then replaced the 4th wheel this past October with a brand new non-refurb wheel. I didn't realize until after the 4th wheel was installed that it was the regular (lighter) colored silver. I will replace the left rear wheel with either a brand new refurb. or a new non-refurb as part of the sale. You are welcome to the wheel that is currently on the car also. If you do a search on refurbed BMW wheels, you'll find a few suppliers. The quality is outstanding and there is no difference in the appearance or quality of these wheels vs. a new, never used wheel. I used "Original Wheels" and "All Factory Wheels." There are no error lights (check engine, etc.) at all. Also, there is no MP3 or iPod jack, but I have a cassette adapter that plugs into your phone to allow you to play your iTunes, Pandora, or even Sirius music (subscription required.) There is a 6 CD changer in the trunk that works sporadically, so I do not use it. Also, the car never came with a spare (from the factory), but I purchased a mini spare from a BMW parts specialists on-line. I have never used it and I can't be 100% sure it will fit, even though it was purchased as fitting an '01 M5. There is a little display pixelation which is common in the E39. It's not an issue imo, but on one of the mileage numbers, it is noticeable at times (not for all numbers.) Note: I have the blue part of the BMW roundels colored in red. These are simply vinyl inserts that you or I can peel off. There was no glue used in the process and the original roundel is underneath. If you're looking for an extremely clean E39 M5, I'm confident you would be very happy with this one. Thanks Payment is due in 7 days, no warranty. |

Ken Block and friends race light in silly-beautiful Castrol commercial
Wed, 28 May 2014How does one make fast, loud, drifting cars better? Well, you can add more fast, loud, drifting cars or you can add lasers. Either or, really. In this case, Castrol did the right thing and added both, creating a highly stylized commercial for its Edge Titanium motor oil starring South African racer Adrian Zaugg, BMW factory driver Augusto Farfus, Audi DTM and Le Mans staple Mike Rockenfeller and some bloke named Ken Block.
Their cars? No surprise, but Block is in his Ford Fiesta GRC, while Zaugg samples a Lamborghini Aventador and Farfus and Rockenfeller drive along party lines, with a BMW M4 and an Audi R8, respectively. And those cars look good, too, thanks to the creative light and laser work on display.
Take a look below for the video from Castrol.
The 2014 Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo Cabrio powers up luxury and speed
Tue, 04 Mar 2014The BMW specialists at Alpina know how to exploit a niche when they see one. With the BMW M4 still not technically official, it saw the need for a higher performance four-seat convertible than the 435i 'vert. Enter the new B4 Bi-Turbo Cabrio that is debuting at the Geneva Motor Show.
The European-exclusive model takes BMW's 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-6 and massages it up to 410 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, which is less power but more twist than the M4 would give buyers. Alpina's tend to be built more as quick, luxurious grand tourers, and the B4 Bi-Turbo gets is no different with an adaptive sport suspension and an eight-speed automatic. Plus it wears the classic pinstripes and 21-spoke wheels that are the brand's design hallmarks.
While the added weight for the convertible means that the Cabrio takes 4.5 seconds to reach 62 miles per hour, about a half-second slower than the coupe, at the moment it is the only way to get this kind of performance in a BMW convertible. Orders for the convertible open in March in Europe and prices in Germany start at 74,800 euros ($102,878 at today's conversion rates).
Watch Emily Blunt and John Krasinski prank Jimmy Kimmel's SUV
Thu, Dec 18 2014Jimmy Kimmel has a bit of a rivalry going with Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. Not like the "I'm on television, you're on the radio" one he has with his former Man Show co-host Adam Carolla (who of course has more to do with cars than the last name he almost shares with a Toyota economy sedan). With Blunt and Krasinski, it's more of a prank rivalry. The Hollywood couple, you see, live across the street from Kimmel, and they're all good friends. But come the holiday season, things get a little competitive. One year they broke into Jimmy's house and left an illuminated snowman and some sort of santa bear in his foyer. Jimmy retaliated, the Krasinskis escalated, and up and up things went until Jimmy had their entire house wrapped like a gift. John and Emily weren't going to leave it at that, though, and took things in a decidedly more automotive direction. They gift-wrapped the host's BMW X5 and filled it with balls. But they didn't stop there. You'll want to watch the footage above to see how things ended, just take note of the roll cage visible as Krasinski-Clause stumbles out of the car in that last scene and remember that, while we couldn't say no vehicles were actually harmed in the making of this segment, at least it doesn't appear to have actually been Kimmel's.
