I ordered this car in April of 1999.  At the time, BMW did not know what the price would be, but I didn't care - I had to have it. It was delivered 7/2000 for $69,000. Titanium Silver, black leather, wood trim. 


This car was my daily driver for eleven years, and then it became a garage queen. I am retired so I never commuted in it. Always kept in heated garage. Never in snow. I drove it moderately, never over 85, generally shifted at 5k. No burnouts ever. No speeding tickets. Currently driven about 3 times a month if the weather is good.

 B&B exhaust, h-pipe resonator deleted. Performance chip. New Weathertech mats. New Michelins 3k miles ago. ASA wheels. New Bilstiens around 75k, lowered 1/2 inch all around.  Includes original BMW branded Motorola Star Tac phone which is integrated into the car.

Replaced clutch at 88k miles. Brakes done at 77k with Euro M5 floating rotors. MAFS at 50k and 100k, OEM. O2 sensors at 100k. Serpentine belt at 50k and 100k. Fan clutch and power steering lines at 100k.No accidents. No metal bodywork. Front plastic valence replaced around 100k. Slight wear in interior, no tears, rips, or stains (no food or drink allowed), headliner excellent. New battery. AC works great. Oil changed about every 6k, trans and diff oil changed with OEM BMW. A few missing pixels in cold weather, heals in summer. New wiper blades. 

Inspected in Virginia until 2/14.

Runs great, sounds great. Fly in, drive anywhere. No prob selling to Canada or Europe IF you do all the paperwork.

BMW readying Spartanburg expansion for X7 production

Prior to the debut of the original X5 in 1999, the idea of a BMW crossover might have seemed like heresy. But here we are, fifteen years removed from the Frank Stephenson-penned design, and the Bavarian automaker has expanded its crossover lineup to include the X1, X3, X4 and X6, and it's showing no sign of slowing down.
We recently reported that BMW is planning on slotting an X2 in at the bottom of the range between the X1 and X3, but now it's being widely reported that it's got an even larger one to put in at the top of its utility line. That, of course, would be the X7, a long-rumored three-row model that would give BMW a large family hauler to challenge the Mercedes-Benz GL.
According to The Wall Street Journal, BMW is expanding its assembly plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to accommodate production of the X7 alongside the X3, X4 and X5 that it already builds there for local consumption.

Part of the joy of the SEMA Show is that all of the best tuners in the world are competing to show off their wares, and the challenge often pushes the companies into some absolutely insane directions. Case in point: Vorsteiner and its ludicrous GTRS4 wide body kit with the BMW M4.
According to Auto Evolution, the kit reportedly adds 4 inches in the front to fit 10.5-inch-wide wheels and a massive 7-inches more in the rear to snug in 13.5-inch-wide wheels, but spinning around the BMW in these images makes the changes look even more extreme. Beyond just the extra room in the fenders, the lower air intakes are ready to suck in huge volumes of cool air, and there's a front splitter to keep things planted. The front and rear extensions are joined by side sills that grow the farther back they go. Finally, at the rear, the M4 gets a reworked diffuser with mesh inserts.

Did BMW drag its feet on Mini recall?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into BMW's reporting of a recall for 30,456 examples of the 2014-2015 Mini Cooper Hardtop, Cooper S, and the 2015 John Cooper Works. According to the government, "it appears from a review of NHTSA's databases that BMW may have failed to submit recall communications to NHTSA in a timely manner." The automaker issued the recall in July because crash tests showed the models didn't meet side impact requirements for passengers in the back seat. While there were no reported injuries at the time, the company decided to install energy-absorbing material in the space between the rear interior panels and the exterior. However, NHTSA has decided to investigate whether this campaign should have started much earlier, given the evidence the company had. According to the government's report, the Cooper Hardtop failed side-impact tests in 2014, although one of these tests was five-miles-per-hour faster than the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. The agency claims: "In January 2015 BMW verbally committed that it would conduct a service campaign to add padding to the rear side panels of MY 2015 Mini 2 Door Hardtop Cooper models. However, BMW did not initiate the service campaign and failed to inform NHTSA of its failure to do so." A subsequent crash test of an example with this fix showed it to make the vehicle compliant with the rules. Mini spokesperson Mariella Kapsaskis told Autoblog: "Regarding the NHTSA audit query, BMW Group is evaluating the request and will respond to NHTSA as appropriate."
