NO RESERVE!!

Being offered at NO RESERVE is the sports convertible you’ve been waiting for:

1998 BMW M3 Convertible with only 74k miles, accident-free, an amazing service history and in the nicest, rarest color combination.

- Accident-free with great service history. Take a look at the free Carfax report provided at the end of this description. Carfax values this M3 at $1,990 ABOVE RETAIL value given its excellent history!!

- Please take your time. I've included OVER 100 high-definition pictures of the vehicle. It is a very large auction with the high-def pictures. Please allow enough time for all of the pictures to load.

- 3.2L inline-6 motor is legendary. This is the motor that set the standard in the late 90s. Straight 6, no forced induction, no turbocharger producing 245 horsepower. Not to mention this is one of the most reliable motors ever built. With only 74k miles, this M3 is going to last the next owner a very long time.

- E36 M3 body style is a true modern classic. The M sport bumpers, side skirts with the 10 double-spoke M rims is a truly unique look.

- Automatic transmission shifts perfectly through gears. With the optional Sport, Economy, and Manual transmission modes, the E36 M3 was truly ahead of its time; giving the driver complete freedom and control of the drive. Leave it in economy mode for better MPG, place it in sport mode for faster shifting and that extra M power, or go into manual mode and sequentially shift the gears yourself.

- Drop-top M3 convertible in Estoril Blue with white leather, HK audio, heated seats. The M3 is just a blast to drive and a real head turner. This is the ultimate sports car driver's dream.

- Estoril Blue on White Leather with Gray dash/trim is the nicest color combination, hands-down.

- Mechanically, the M3 is excellent; everything works great and the BMW really rides beautifully.

- Brakes, exhaust and suspension are all excellent.

- No engine warning lights or malfunctions of any kind.

- Heat blows hot and A/C is ice-cold!

- Cruise-control operates perfectly.

- Premium/Sport and Winter package with HEATED seats, dual power seats, heated power mirrors, M rims, keyless-entry.

- All power options function 100%.

- HK audio sounds great. There’s no better feeling driving this M3 down the highway with the top down, music blasting and engine revving.

- M wheels look great and really complete the look of the BMW. Wrapped in FOUR MATCHING TOYO tires.

- Estoril Blue Metallic exterior looks great and shines beautifully. There are 1-2 door dings, a dent on the front grille and a few light scratches on the trunk lid as you can see in the pictures. These are hardly noticeable and definitely do not detract from the overall beautiful appearance of the M3. We mention these to be as thorough as possible and provide as much information to all potential bidders.

- White LEATHER interior with gray trim is in excellent condition. Most of these E36 M3s have significant cracking in the leather, BUT NOT THIS ONE.  No tears or rips in the seats or carpets. The leather is absolutely gorgeous. The driver seat shows almost no wear; no side-bolster wear, no significant wrinkles. Dash/trim shine beautifully. Carpets look great with no stains or tears.

- Rear Seat looks barely used.

- POWER DROP-TOP convertible with the push of a button works 100%. No hesitations or stalling. 3 pin-size holes in the back left of the top as you can see in the pictures, nothing major.

- If you're looking at this auction, you know how hard these M3s are to find in this kind of well-kept condition.

- All original owners' manuals, full spare tire in the trunk!! Alarm system with key-less remote, valet key and extra master key. This is one of the nicest, well-kept, all-original E36 M3s out there and THE ONLY ONE BEING SOLD AT NO RESERVE!!!

- This is really a rare find: 1998 BMW M3 Convertible in gorgeous Estoril Blue with only 74k miles, well-maintained, accident-free and being sold at NO RESERVE!!

BMW will electrify all brands and model lines, including Mini

Tue, Jul 25 2017

BMW has announced that it plans to produce a fully electric version of the three-door hatchback Mini. The car will go into production in 2019, and the battery electric drivetrain will be produced at BMW's Bavarian facilities, then transported to Plant Oxford where it will join the cars. BMW says there will remain a diesel variant in addition to the petrol, plug-in hybrid, and EV versions of the Mini. No prototype shots have been released of the upcoming cars; the current one was unveiled in late 2013. The UK production location isn't the only place where BMW builds Minis, as the former Volvo/Mitsubishi/Smart NedCar plant in the Netherlands has been tooled to build some of the 360,000 Minis built yearly. According to the BBC, UK Business Secretary Greg Clark considers the choice to build EV Minis in Britain a "vote of confidence" despite Brexit, and that it would see battery technology development boosted in the UK. By the time the EV version starts production, UK will likely have already left the European Union. The electrification of the Mini is part of BMW Group's continuing addition of full-electric or plug-in versions to all its brands and model series. Of all the vehicles it will sell in 2025, 15-25 percent will be electrified in one way or the other. Similarly to Volvo, BMW sees flexible production to be in a key position in the future: The facilities would have to be able to build all versions at the same time, as markets fluctuate depending on incentives and infrastructure. If EVs sell strongly, the production process can quickly respond to the demand. An electric Mini underwent trials back in 2008, so the full-scale production vehicle would have over a decade's worth of engineering behind it. Green BMW MINI mini ev bmw group

BMW and Samsung enter expanded battery agreement [w/video]

Fri, Jul 18 2014

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. In this case, the goose is BMW and the gander is Samsung. And their five-year plan has worked out well. The German automaker this week expanded its current agreement with the South Korean battery-making giant. BMW and Samsung SDI reached a memorandum of understanding for Samsung to keep making batteries for BMW's growing stable of i3 battery-electric and i8 plug-in hybrids as well as yet-to-be revealed hybrid models. No dollar amount or new time frame was revealed, but with BMW already moving about 5,400 i3 vehicles during the first six months of the year, there should be a substantial amount of funds changing hands. BMW started working with Samsung in 2009 when it began buying batteries for its Megacity electric vehicle from SB LiMotive, a 50-50 joint-venture between Samsung SDI and Bosch. Things have been looking up for Samsung since last August, when Tesla Motors decided to diversify its battery supply chain by branching out beyond Panasonic and buying some of its lithium-ion batteries from Samsung. Feel free to check out the Samsung-Bimmer press release, along with a video report, below. BMW Group and Samsung SDI expand partnership BMW Group and Samsung SDI expand partnership: Signing of a memorandum of understanding for delivery of further battery cells in signing of MoU for delivery of further battery cells Seoul. The BMW Group and Samsung SDI plan to expand their supply relationship for battery cells for electro-mobility. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect today in Seoul. Samsung SDI will supply the BMW Group with battery cells for the BMW i3, BMW i8 and additional hybrid models over the coming years. The most important elements of the agreement are the increase in quantities delivered over the medium term, in response to growing demand for electro-mobility, and further technological development of battery cells. Dr. Klaus Draeger, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Purchasing and Supplier Network: "Our partnership with Samsung SDI is a good example of successful Korean-German cooperation on innovative technologies. The battery is a key component in every electric vehicle – since it basically determines the range and performance capabilities of the car.

Preserving automotive history costs big bucks

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.
