This is a 2006 M3 Coupe ZCP (competition package), SMG transmission (the hydraulic pump has been replaced), interlagos blue and black leather interior. It has 119,000 miles on it…most of them are highway miles. The front part of the hood has a clear bra on it and the ENTIRE front bumper has a clear bra on it. If you pull the clear bra off, the paint will be in amazing shape. There are a few scratches on the bottom of the bumper, but besides this the paint is perfect and doesn't have any of the typical stone or rock chips because it has a clear bra on it. It also has a navigation system and 6 disc changer.

It still has the books and DVD that came with it when it was purchased. It also has the original-unused IMS (instant mobility system and tire pump).

It has newer rear tires, but the front tires will need to be replaced relatively soon. The brakes work VERY well on it and it has the oversized rotors because of the competition package. The transmission shifts great and the engine run

The coveted competition pack includes
-Cross-drilled brake rotors (enlarged to 13.7 inches in front) with two-piece compound rotors (aluminum hat and outer portion connected by steel pins)
-Steering ratio reduced to 14.5:1
-M Track Mode setting for Dynamic Stability Control (raises—but does not eliminate—the threshold at which the DSC intervenes)
-19-inch cross-spoke alloy wheels (8x19-inch front, 9.5x19-inch rear)
-Alcantara-wrapped M three-spoke steering wheel with M Track Mode activation button (audio and cruise control buttons deleted)
-Specific aluminum interior trim with milled effect
-Exclusive Interlagos Blue metallic (A30) paint option that was only allowed for the competition package

Motor Trend did a review on this package, it was in their May issue from 2005 and titled "First Test: 2005 BMW M3 Competition Package"

It won't let me post the link, but you can view the article of you google that article or if you go to motortrend dot com/roadtests/sedans/112_0505_2005_bmw_m3_competition/viewall.html

I'm selling this because I'm going to use the money to fund part of a business that I'm starting up and I would like some extra cash. So I'm not desperate to sell it, but I'm also not trying to get every last dollar out of it.  I'm a BMW enthusiast and know it's not the easiest finding E46 M3 with the SMG transmission, Competition package, Interlagos Blue and black interior with a clean title....but I know it's not impossible to find another one (probably with lower miles). With that said, I am interested in a Lotus Elise or Exige and I would be interested in trading for one, but if a trade comes up I would really prefer not to be putting any money down.

I do have it for sale locally, so if I get an offer locally I reserve the right to end the auction early.

Tesla in talks with BMW about batteries, charging collaborations

Wed, Nov 26 2014

With Toyota and Daimler no longer holding Tesla shares, the electric vehicle company might be looking for a new partner – possibly a Bavarian one. In a new interview with Germany's Der Spiegel, CEO Elon Musk confirmed that he has had talks with BMW execs about future collaboration. "We are talking about whether we can collaborate in battery technology or charging stations," Musk said in the interview, according to Reuters. However, a Tesla spokesperson has tempered things by saying no formal agreements are in place at the moment. In the same interview, Musk reportedly praised BMW's use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic in its i sub-brand offerings, and said he would like to have a battery factory in Germany in the next five or six years. The possibility of technological cooperation between Tesla and BMW has been a hot topic this year. In June, Musk reportedly met with BMW execs, and the two companies were also rumored to have met with Nissan to discuss charging technology. When Daimler sold off its shares, there was talk of it opening the way for possible collaboration between the two automakers, as well.

Recharge Wrap-up: Eigg's renewable energy grid, Wulin City Car EV looks like i3

Fri, Sep 12 2014

Scotland's Isle of Eigg's electrical grid relies solely on wind, hydro and solar power. It's the first grid of its kind after switching to renewable energy from noisy, unreliable diesel generators. Scotland's renewable resources are fodder for supporters of independence form the UK, and Eigg is a perfect example of that potential. Besides being a responsible community, it also seems like a lovely place to visit. Read more at Reuters. London Mayor Boris Johnson is calling for incentives for diesel vehicle scrapping. The goal is to improve London's air quality, encourage the purchase of clean vehicles and offset the inconvenience of charging diesel cars to enter the city's proposed Ultra Low Emissions Zone. Read more at Green Car Congress or in the press release below. BMW, Nissan, Renault and Volkswagen are teaming up to create a better EV charging infrastructure in the UK and Ireland. As part of the Trans-European Transport Network (T-ENT) program, the group aims to create extended EV-friendly roadways with the UK Rapid Charge Network, connecting major cities on the islands. Plans for the network include 70 rapid chargers along 684 miles of road. The four manufacturers also want to extend the project to mainland Europe to encourage the adoption of EVs. Read more at Hybrid Cars. Wuling is working on an EV, called City Car, which liberally takes visual cues from the BMW i3. The City Car EV concept is slated to make its debut in November at the Guangzhou Auto Show, while a production version could make its way onto Chinese roads next year. We might have to wait until the debut to know what powers the City Car, as those details haven't been released yet. General Motors is a 43-percent stakeholder in Wuling. Read and see more at Car News China. Taxi customers in New York will enjoy greater payment flexibility with the new interoperability between RideLinQ and Way2ride apps. Now customers will be able to use either app to pay in any of the city's 20,000 green and yellow taxis. There's no need for separate apps for separate cabs, and no need for drivers to install any new equipment. The groups behind the apps hope to expand this functionality to other cities across the country. Read more in the press release below.

BMW and Samsung team up with Galaxy Gear smartwatch that talks to your i3

Sun, 12 Jan 2014

Without a doubt, the most impressive thing that BMW showed at CES this year was a driverless M235i drifting flawlessly around a wet track at Las Vegas Speedway. However, that bit of robotic helmsmanship wasn't the only trick the German company had up its sleeve. Or, more to the point, on its wrist.
Taking a page from rival Mercedes-Benz, BMW demonstrated how a "smartwatch," in this case the Samsung Galaxy Gear, could be made to function usefully with a vehicle, in this case the BMW i3. Calling it a "research application," BMW showed off its BMW i Remote App on the Galaxy Gear; the app gives information about state of battery charge, available range and whether or not all the doors and windows are closed or open. Perhaps more useful still, the watch can be used to send a destination to the i3's navigation unit, adjust the climate control in preparation for a trip and can recognize voice commands. Nifty stuff, if not world-shaking, that could help tech-obsessed luxury buyers take a second look at the upcoming BMW EV.
Take a closer look at the watch in action below, or read thru the BMW press release.
