I bought the car with 77k on it from the 2nd owner, it now has 92,975 on it. I only drive it on weekends anymore and need money for a mortgage down payment. This is a low-reserve auction, especially for such an amazing, well taken care of car. Please contact me if you have any questions. I have listed the bad points early and I have done my best to describe this vehicle to the fullest. I own an automotive performance facility that specializes in BMW's so rest assured, aside from the defects I list, this car is completely sound. This vehicle is being sold as-is with no warranty, with all defects, and I reserve the right to end the auction early as it is for sale through other channels.

I welcome pre-bid inspections

Bad points.

-Sunroof retracting tab is broken, thus the sunroof doesn't work. Doesn't leak or make any weird noises, it is just closed and I leave it that way. Never bothered me.
-Left front bumper reflector is cracked.
-Deck lid tail light lenses are faded, as is the M3 badge in the fender louvre.
-Car was involved in an accident before my ownership, left front fender and wheel were replaced as per the car fax. I own a body shop and thought the repairs to be sufficient. No inner fender or frame damage, cosmetic only. Takes an alignment no problem.
-Transmission has a slight grind going into third gear on heavy acceleration or heavy downshifting. It doesn't grind during around town driving or shifting below 4k Rpms.
-Dent behind driver door low on quarter panel
-Rocker moldings somewhat stained
-Wheels aren't in the best cosmetic shape, previous owner has some curbage and clearcoat peel. They are not cracked or repaired and they spin over true, I am very particular about vibration and this car is absolutely calm and poised at 50, 80, 110, or 140 (haven't gone much faster than that, lol),  zero vibration in the wheel or the seat.
-Interior A-Pillar and C-Pillar cover is pulling slightly, very common with these cars and barely noticeable.

Fri, Aug 11 2017

On this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Associate Editor Joel Stocksdale. We discuss a couple of BMWs, the upcoming BMW X7 three-row SUV and our short-term BMW M760i with a turbocharged, 600-horsepower V12. We also cover the week's news, including Mazda's nifty engine technology it will roll out in the next few years, as well as pricing on the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast@autoblog.com. (If you record audio of a question with your phone and get it to us, you could hear your very own voice on the podcast. Neat, right?) Car Hacking 101: Here's what motorists should know [w/video]

Tue, Feb 24 2015

Cars are nothing more than computers on wheels. As such, they're vulnerable to hackers. Most people who work within the auto industry have understood this for years, but for the broader American public not paying as close attention, three storylines emerged recently that underscored this new vehicular reality. First, German researchers found a flaw in BMWs remote-services system that allowed them to access the telematics units in vehicles. Then, a 60 Minutes report demonstrated that researchers could remotely infiltrate a Chevy Impala and override critical functions, like acceleration and braking. Finally, a US Senator released a critical report (see video above) that found almost all automakers are unprepared to handle real-time hacks of their vehicles. Those reports come on the heels of two previous instances in recent months when researchers demonstrated the capability to hack cars. All this news can be disconcerting. If you're late to the concept of car-hacking and wondering how this is possible, we've got you covered. Here's your quick primer on what you need to know. 1. How Did My Car Become A Computer? On the outside, cars haven't changed all that much over the past couple of decades years. On the inside, however, the amount of electronics and software has dramatically increased. Most new cars contain more than 50 microprocessors known as electronic control units. These ECUs control everything from airbag deployment and navigation systems to throttle control and braking, and they're usually connected to each other on an internal network called the CAN bus. 2. What Exactly Is Car Hacking? Depends who you ask. Automakers might consider anything that alters the car from its state of manufacture as a 'hack.' For example, if you're chipping the engine – re-calibrating those ECUs to increase your horsepower – some people might consider that a hack. But in the context of the recent news reports, security experts are focused on unwanted, unauthorized cyber intrusions into a vehicle. Once inside your car, prospective attacks could range from minor things like eavesdropping on conversations via an infotainment system and unlocking car doors to major concerns, like overriding driver inputs and controlling braking, steering and acceleration. 3. How Is This All Possible? Any part of the car that communicates with the outside world, either via a remote or direct connection, is a potential entry point for hackers.

Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo offers Europeans a pre-M3 performance 3er

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

Anyone that's spent some time behind the wheel of the Alpina B7 probably knows enough to understand what Americans are missing with this, newly launched Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo. We've got no lack of M models to choose from, it's true, but the Alpina touch offers a completely different driving character, with almost as much performance. A pity then that Alpina has no plans that we've heard of to bring this one across the pond.
Filling the gap between the current 3 Series offerings and the outgoing M3 (we're not likely to even see the new M3 and M4 until September's Frankfurt show, nor be able to buy one until after that), the B3 Bi-Turbo brings serious performance to the F30 3er. As the name indicates, two turbochargers are used to force-feed BMW's 3.0-liter inline-six engine, for a total output of 410 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. That power offers a big jump from even the BMW 335i sedan, and will push the B3 to 62 miles per hour in just 4.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 190 miles per hour. Alpina's own sport suspension underpins the thing, while the power is modulated by way of a eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new B3 will be easily recognizable thanks to its "Classic" 20-inch, 20-spoke Alpina wheels, and a rather subtle, aero-enhancing body kit. No pricing has yet been announced, but you will find a host of additional information in the attached Alpina press release below.
