Amazing 2002 Bmw M3 6-speed Manual Csl Carbon Fiber Upgrades No Reserve!! on 2040-cars
Elizabeth, New Jersey, United States
Up for sale is one of the most iconic performance coupes in human history, the BMW E46 M3. Here's everything you need to know about this amazing model.
If you have any questions, you can reach me at (908) 693-9270. Recalls: The car has had repair work for the BMW bearing recall. It has also been inspected for subframe cracking by BMW, without any issues. It has also had the DME (engine computer) replaced by BMW for a recall a few years ago regarding hesitation during colder weather. I have full documentation of all work performed by BMW since new. Documentation: I have all receipts for work recently done, and documentation of all work done in BMW since new. This is located in a binder along with the owner's manual. Engine/Mechanical: The engine runs well, and has no signs of hesitation at any speed or RPM. The VANOS system does not exhibit any loud clicks or rattles during operation. There are no leaks coming from the engine of any kind. Installed is an aFe stage 2 short ram intake, which gives the car a throaty growl and a very pronounced engine note. The clutch grabs nicely, and all gears in the car's 6-speed manual transmission go in smoothly without any grinding. Here is a comprehensive list of things that was done over the past few months, all applicable receipts included in the sale. Oil and filter change with 10W60 Liqui MOLY and Mann Filter New Coolant Expansion Tank from ECS Tuning New Radiator Fan New Valve Cover Gasket New NGK Platinum Spark Plugs New Fuel Filter New Oil Level/Temperature Sensor Cleaned Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaned Secondary Air Pump passages Cleaned aFe cone filter Transmission Fluid flush Exhaust: The exhaust is the factory unit that came with the car. It may need a rear passenger's side exhaust hanger, as the one on the car now is perished, and has that side hanging slightly lower than the left - you can see this in the pictures. This also causes a slight rattle, and there may be a very faint exhaust leak, but it isn't large enough to be significantly noticeable. Interior: The Interior of this car is in great shape. The door, steering wheel, dashboard, and shifter trim have all been recovered in Brushed Titanium 3M Vinyl. It's a great alternative to the factory aluminum finish that the car originally had, which was showing some signs of distress. In addition, the armrests on the door panels were recovered with new black leather. The seats are Nappa leather sport seats, but are showing some signs of bolster wear and slight cracking. The front and rear seats were conditioned with Lexol conditioner recently. A brand new OEM BMW illuminated shift knob was installed as well. On the passenger's seat, some stitching on the left side of the seat looks like it was repaired, as well as some stitching on the upper portion of the backseat. Both front floor mats are included and are in great shape. The headliner is in good condition, other than the 3rd taillight, which has some fabric slightly hanging. Also, the sunroof slider on the headliner is slightly misaligned, but it still functions without problem. Exterior: The car's exterior is painted in an amazing shade of Blue, called Carbon Schwartz Metallic, or Carbon Black. In low light, it looks black, but has a blue, near purple tint with metal flake to it when hit with direct light. As the car spent its time in New York City before I got it, both bumpers were dented and broken. I got OEM replacements for the front and back and had them professionally painted at Azevedo Motorsports in Linden, NJ - a high-end German body shop and tuning company. The trunk is also a carbon fiber CSL-style trunk, along with a carbon fiber CSL diffuser to finish off the back of the car. The bumpers look better than new, and have no fitment issues at all. The fender grilles were painted flat black, and blacked out side markers were added to the front bumper. New fog lights were also installed to complement the OEM HID projector headlights the car has. The hood has a few rock chips, and has 2 small dents to the left and center of the front kidney grilles. The right passenger's wheel arch has a bit of superficial scratching, as well as a few nickel-sized dents on the quarter panels that can be take out by any paint-less dent repair place. There are various small scratches all around the car, but don't detract from the overall look of the car in the slightest. Suspension: The car is lowered about 1.5 inches on KW Coilovers, which is the set that can achieve the lowest ride height. The wheels do not rub on turns, nor on hard bumps. Although it is a very firm ride, it drives beautifully. It does not seem to need an alignment, as it tracks straight, but I have not taken it to an alignment shop to know what the measurements actually are. All bushings look to be in good condition. Wheels/Tires: The wheels are OEM BMW M3 18x9 wheels all around with 10mm spacers in front, for the square-stanced look and added ability in cornering. The wheels are in good shape and have no bends or cracks, but there are some curb rash marks, as well as some heavy scratching on the front passenger's wheel. The tires are 245/40/18 Nankang NSIIs in the back, with 70 percent tread depth, and the fronts are 245/40/18 Pirelli P6s, with one changed recently to a Velozza ZXV tire because of a bubble with the previous unit. Both fronts have around 60-70 percent tread depth. Electronics/Audio: The audio system in this car consists of the upgraded Harmon/Kardon premium system, with an upgraded Kenwood KVT-516 DVD receiver, with bluetooth, navigation, and iPod support. All components work flawlessly, and the system sounds amazing. A remote control for the headunit is included, as well as an owner's manual. All other electrical components in this car work with no problems or issues. One thing to note is that the passenger's side window can be a bit slow to raise at times, but otherwise in great shape. The battery is a refurbished model with more cold cranking amps, replaced within the last month. The car also comes with a Viper Alarm, with 2 remotes and an LCD keyfob. The factory keyfob also works without a problem. All factory climate control functions work without a problem and A/C blows cold. Brakes: The brakes are in great condition, with more than 60 percent life left in the pads, with rotors looking quite new. There is a very slight vibration at speed, however. It isn't noticeable through the steering wheel and it doesn't affect the handling or driving feel in any way. Vehicle History: Enclosed is the Autocheck Vehicle History Report, it scored an above average 87 (Normal range is 34-65) There are also no accident on record, and the title is clear with no liens recorded. Rolls-Royce Cullinan and BMW 8 Series spied south of Death Valley
Wed, Aug 30 2017Recently, we've stumbled upon a number of manufacturer prototypes running around. Usually, spy photographers sit and wait for hours with cameras primed in order to get a few shots of a car. We just got lucky. First, we caught the new Chevy Corvette ZR1 convertible during a Facebook Live video. A week or so later McGraw snapped a video of a ZR1 coupe cruising in his neck of the woods. Today, our ace photographer Drew Phillips caught a BMW test fleet filling up the new Rolls-Royce Cullinan and 8 Series coupe in Baker, Calif. Baker sits along Interstate 15, about halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. It's just south of Death Valley, and, being late August, suggests that BMW was doing some hot weather testing. Drew was filling up his car when the fleet rolled in. There were at least two of the new king Rolls and a single 8 Series. Both cars were wearing a full swirl camouflage wrap. It's not an uncommon place to see prototypes. Still, seeing a whole fleet roll in is quite a sight. We've seen official photos of the Cullinan before, but these pictures give us our best view of the profile and rear we've had so far. From a distance, it looks like a high-riding version of the new Phantom with a hatch in place of the trunk. The taillights are obviously just filler units. Expect the final version to look very much like the squared off LED units on the Phantom. Likewise the interior and engine should be straight from the Phantom. That means a twin-turbocharged V12, though power is likely to be sent to all four wheels. We've seen the full BMW 8 Series concept a few times now. The proportions on the production car look the same, with a long hood and even longer wheelbase. The nose isn't quite as aggressive as the concept, but we expected the styling to be toned down to meet crash and safety standards. As for engines, look for six, eight and (hopefully) 12-cylinder power under the hood. A plug-in variant is also expected. Both cars have been in development for a long while, so look for full debuts sometime this auto show season. Maybe we'll happen upon some more test mules between now and then. Related Video:
Six 'shut up and take my money' cars
Tue, 11 Nov 2014Any time you see this iconic moment in pop culture - Shut up and take my money! - posted in response to a new car reveal, rumor for an upcoming model or even lip-service to a vehicle that should exist, you can bet there's some intrinsic good in the idea. Though depending on the person offering up the cash, that good could take the form of extraordinary form, functionality, weight savings, power, handling, etc. You get the idea.
In fact, when I first proposed this list, I reached out to the Autoblog staff to help me brainstorm. Here are some of the ideas they offered up that I ultimately didn't use: Jaguar XE Coupe, Pagani Huayra Roadster, Mercedes-Benz S-Class "parade car" (cabriolet), Morgan 3-Wheeler with Ducati V-twin, Ford Transit Connectamino (pickup), Mercedes CLA63 AMG, Ford Fusion 5.0, BMW i8 Spyder, Lexus RC-F Shooting Brake, Volvo XC90 Polestar. Oh, and things we collectively wanted to stick Dodge's Hellcat in were almost as numerous as models that Fiat Chrysler Automotive currently makes (though none quite so compelling as the Grand Cherokee you see above.)
Ultimately though, while I used a couple of ideas from my colleagues, the list of cars I'd shell out for unquestionably is very personal. Though it isn't complete, what follows is a selection of cars whose very existence would prompt me - or the trust-fund-baby versions of me - to utter without hesitation: "Shut up and take my money."
