2013 Bmw E92 M3 Lime Rock Edition.. on 2040-cars
Walnut Creek, California, United States
I'm doing the unthinkable, selling the one car I thought I was going to keep for years to come, needs change, expenses go up and unfortunately for me this amazing car must go…
The car is perfect, I bought it brand new and took great care of it from the moment I drove it off showroom. I adhered to the proper break in steps and always made sure it got the best care it deserved. It does not have a single door ding, scratch, chip or any other blemish. Here are some facts about this remarkable car for those of you whom may not be familiar with it; - Only 200 of these were ever made. - I believe about 30 to 40 were in 6 speed manual. - The E92 was the last of M3 coupes and perhaps only M3 that will ever be fitted with a V8 engine. - It's the opinion of many experts that this M3 generation will be one of very few modern cars to become future classic, - Out of all the 2008 to 2013 M3 production run, ONLY 200 were like this, this makes the car rarest of a future classic and in my opinion one of the best M3s ever made. - Here is your chance to own this wonderful car, I'm sure I will regret selling it in the future. This Lime Rock is all stock with exception of the 20 inch Vorsteiner Technik Performance wheels fitted with 285/30 ZR20 Michelins in rear and 255/30 ZR 20s in front, tires have over 80% thread. Factory options are; - Lime Rock package ( Orange paint, black Novillo leather interior, Titanium sport exhaust, flat bottom Alcantara steering wheel, carbon fiber rear spoiler and front spoiler lips). - Competition package( Dynamic Damper Control, carbon fiber roof). - Cold weather package ( front heated seats, Ski bag, retractable headlight washers). - Premium package( Power folding mirrors, universal garage opener, comfort access, power rear shade, park distance control, Navigation system, Voice command, real time traffic info). - Carbon leather trim. - Certificate of authenticity signed head of BMW M division and head of BMW NA. - Here is a very cool fact about this car, BMW originally sent two copies of the certificate of authenticity with an error in the VIN!! They sent two other copies later with correct VIN, I have all the copies, this is probably the only one with two wrong COAs and two correct ones, very cool. - The Vorsteiners are forged, set retails for almost $8K. - Much much more.. In the interest of full disclosure I need to mention the front right rim has a one inch curb rash ( pictured). I had the clear front bra installed when I bought the car and a few weeks ago I noticed two small tares, there are no damages to the paint, looks like the clear bra did it's job. The rear wheels rub a bit at freeway speed if there is a medium or large dip, although this is not causing any damage to the car but it should be noted. I really hate having to sell this car and I hope someone else can appreciate it and keep it for a long time as I know it will become a sought after BMW. I might consider a trade of a clean low milage E30 325is with 5 speed or an M roadster. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. |

Thermal imagery of BMW M4 DTM pit stop is red hot
Wed, 28 May 2014A pit stop is a pit stop, right? The race car pulls in, the crew changes the tires, pumps in some fuel, maybe swaps out a busted body panel or squeegees the windshield, and off it goes for another heat. Only pit stops have become the focus of news lately for a number of reasons, whether it's because of mishaps (like the ones that prompted F1 to ban mid-race refueling), new time records (due largely to said ban) or interesting new ways to film the fast-paced action.
A few weeks ago we brought you footage of an IndyCar pit stop filmed from multiple angles courtesy of Google Glass. Now BMW has released a brief clip of one of its M4 DTM racers coming in for fresh rubber, all filmed by infrared camera. Its the kind of technology BMW uses to help optimize its German touring cars for competition, and now the Bavarian outfit has released some footage for fans to enjoy.
The resulting thermal imagery gives you an idea of how hot the car runs (and where the heat is emanating from), how warm they get the fresh rubber before they get it onto the car, and what kind of temperatures the pit crew is subjected to. Look closely enough in the 25-second video below and you'll even see the heat sputtering out of the exhaust pipes as the M4 downshifts into its pit box. (Just don't try adjusting your speakers, the clip is without audio.)
The best cars we drove this year
Tue, Dec 30 2014Six hundred and fifty. That's roughly how many cars pass through the hands of Autoblog editors every year, from the vehicles we test here at home, to the cars we drive on new product launches, testing roundups, long-term cars, and so on. Of course, our individual numbers vary due to several reasons, but at the end of the day, our team's repertoire of automotive experience is indeed vast. But let's be honest, some cars certainly stand out more than others. So as the year's about to turn, and as we're readying brand-new daily cat calendars for our cubicles, our editors are all taking time to reflect on the machinery that made this year so special, with one simple, open-ended question as the guide – a question that we're asked quite frequently, from friends, family, colleagues, and more. "What's the best car you drove this year?" Lamborghini Huracan When I review the list of everything I drove in 2014, picking an absolute favorite becomes almost impossible. I mean, how does one delineate between the joy offered by cars as different as the Alfa Romeo 4C, Volkswagen Golf R, Mercedes-AMG GT S and even the humble-yet-wonderful Chevy Colorado? Okay fine, I'll just pick the Lamborghini. I drove the Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 on a racetrack, in the mountains, and along southern coast of Spain. It felt like the king of the car jungle in all of those places, sucking the eyeballs of observers nearly out of their heads as it drove by, and almost melting my brain with its cocktail of speed and grip and intense communication. It feels a little easy to say that the one new supercar I drove this year was also my favorite, but the fact is that the Huracan is one of the finest cars I've driven during my career, let alone 2014. Judge me if you must. – Seyth Miersma Senior Editor Rolls-Royce Wraith There are a couple of ways to look at the question, "What's the best car you drove this year?" In terms of what was so good I'd go out and buy one tomorrow, that'd be my all-time sweetheart, the Volkswagen GTI. Or if I'm just talking about sheer cool-factor, maybe something like the Galpin GTR1, BMW i8, or Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. But instead, I'm going to write about the sheer opulence of being the best of the best. The hand-crafted, holier-than-thou, shut-your-mouth-when-I'm-talking-to-you supremacy. I'm picking the Rolls-Royce Wraith. I drove the Wraith for a week in April, and was really, really impressed. This car does everything, perfectly.
The List: The Red BMW - A Retrospective
Mon, 23 Dec 2013We can't help but use this time of year to look back at the days before and reminisce about friends who are no longer in our lives. For The List, Jessi and Patrick were often joined by a little, red BMW 3 Series that, at times, felt like a third host of the show. Having been bought used for just a thousand bucks, the red BMW proved to be surprisingly durable. Through jumps, dunks and monster trucks, it remained our little trooper 'till the very end, and on the way taught us all how important a faithful four-wheeled companion is to the life's work of completing one's automotive bucket list.
For our last episode of The List in 2013, we give you The Red BMW - A Retrospective.
