The ultimate M3. Never raced, never driven on a track. This car is loaded with the highest performance and luxury options available.  Jet Black, black interior.  M-Double-Clutch Transmission, Competition Package, Premium Package 2, Heated Front Seats, Carbon Leather interior trim, Enhanced Premium Sound, Convenience Package, M Drive, Sirius Satellite Radio, Navigation. Selling in order to buy a family car. Factory Warranty and free BMW Ultimate Service maintenance until 1/1/2015 or 50,000 miles. No accidents, clean title, one owner, non-smoker.  Superb condition.  Most M3s out there are driven very aggressively and have a lot of wear; this was my West Side commuter car and never pushed to the limit, so you're getting a practically new car.  The Competition Package lowers the car by 1 cm and adds numerous enhancements to the handling as well as signature premium wheels.  Motortrend said it all about this 2011 M3: "The M3 with Competition Package is the best-handling production M car ever built.... It's like a Hellfire missile rewired to turn in mere inches."

BMW shuffles chairs in its design department

Sun, 22 Sep 2013

BMW Group has made some changes to its design team since August 1, and has shuffled top personnel to different positions at BMW Design, Mini Design and Rolls-Royce.
The BMW Design team led by Karim Habib (middle, right) gains a new head of Exterior Design in Domagoj Dukec (right), who has worked for the exterior design team since 2010 and shaped the Concept Active Tourer.
Oliver Heilmer (left), who has worked for BMW's interior design unit since 2000 and designed the 5 Series interior, replaces Marc Girard as head of Interior Design BMW Automobiles. Marc Girard goes to manage BMW's subsidiary design group, BMW DesignworksUSA.

Company car offers in decline, but not at The Cheesecake Factory [w/poll]

Sat, 22 Jun 2013

As businesses look to keep high-level employees happy, it seems that use of company cars can still be an effective method, although fewer companies are employing it. According to Businessweek, only about 25 percent of companies offer company vehicles as a perk, while less than half give allowances for employees to use their personal vehicles for work purposes.
The report says that one business still in the practice of handing out company cars is The Cheesecake Factory, which offers the benefit to top managers. And we're not talking about some econobox, either. The article indicates the restaurant chain hands out BMWs on a three-year basis - although the company's own report says that the type of vehicle "varies with the executive's level."
Still, we mostly agree with the article's conclusion that money is the best way to keep employees or attract new ones, even if a corporate car is a big perk. What do you think? Let us know, in the poll below, whether a company car could sway you to work for a certain company (not just the Cheesecake factory, where the "Glamburgers" portion of the menu alone is enough to keep a guy hanging around).

BMW rethinks all-wheel-drive M cars

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

BMW M hasn't been able to decide whether it wants to jump on the all-wheel-drive bandwagon or not (with the exceptions of the X5 M and the X6 M, which are based on AWD architecture). That might be changing though, since M's president Friedrich Nitschke recently realized that 70 to 80 percent of Mercedes-Benz E63 AMGs are ordered with all-wheel drive. Earlier this year, Nitschke said that there were no new AWD M models planned, so this comes as somewhat of a surprise.
"On our cars we are thinking of all-wheel drive, but it won't come before we get the successor of the M5 and M6," Nitschke said in a Motoring report. "That's the timing and it's not practical to react in the current life cycles."
