Up for sale is a well optioned 2011 M3 coupe. Competition Package, Convenience Package, Premium 2 Package, DCT transmission, Ipod integration, Bmw Apps, Enhanced Premium Sound, Matt Schnell stage 2 intake, IND color matched markers, Performance BMW Steering Wheel. The front bumper and rocker panels are covered by a clear bra. All stock parts are included in the auction. There is a small door ding on the back right quarter panel. I tried to capture it the best I could in the pictures. There is also a very small curb rash on the right rear wheel. I want to be upfront so there are no surprises. Meet the inventor of the BMW 3 Series wagon
Sat, 11 May 2013It's hard to imagine, but once upon a time, there were only two BMW 3 Series variants: the coupe and sedan. Back before gran coupes, convertibles and yes, even touring models were available, buyers could only get their 3 Series fix if it came with two or four doors and a fixed roof. Back in the mid '80s, BMW engineer Max Reisbock was having some trouble fitting his whole family into his four door. Rather than suck it up and buy a van, he picked up a wrecked 3 Series and got to cutting in a buddy's garage. Months later, he had the very first 3 Series Touring ever built.
At first, he kept the the car to himself, using it to haul friends and family around, but he eventually showed it off to his friends at work. When the BMW executives found out about his project, they called him up to take a closer look. After putting an eyeball on the car, they took it, copied his design, made a few tweaks and quickly rolled out the first production 3 Series Touring. How's that for validation? Bunny couldn't out hop a BMW M3 on-track
Mon, 15 Jul 2013Driving a car is a dangerous hobby, and not just because of other drivers or poor roads. Sometimes, it seems like even the wildlife is out to get you, as evidenced here, here, here, here and here. Now, we can add one more unfortunate car-versus-animal encounter to the tally.
Perhaps believing that this bright orange BMW M3 GTS was a very fast, very loud carrot, an unfortunate bunny leaped into its windshield in a brutal accident at a Polish racetrack. Considering the M3's speed at the time, 89 miles per hour, the passengers are lucky to be okay. Obviously, Bugs didn't make it.
The BMW isn't in such great shape, though. The windshield is in a bit of a state, with safety glass sprayed all over the passenger side of the cabin. There doesn't appear to be any sheetmetal damage, at least from what we can tell from the video. Although there isn't any blood, the hit is really hard. The initial point of impact is at 0:57.
