2004 Bmw M3 Base Convertible 70k Miles, Excellent Condition on 2040-cars
Sausalito, California, United States
2004 M3 convertible, 70,8xx miles. 6 speed manual. Impeccably maintained, recent inspection II
with valve adjustment. Oil change within
500 miles. Runs flawlessly. Silver/black leather. Top is in perfect condition, and factory windscreen is included. Heated and power seats, leather is in great
condition with expected wear on driver’s bolster, steering wheel. Non smoker car, garage kept at all times. New brakes at 65k, brand new rear tires, front tires
80%. I recently had polyurethane
trailing arm bushings installed as the stock rubber bushings were causing
premature tire wear on the rear tires.
The poly bushings don’t squeak. Two
tasteful mods: Borla stainless midpipe and Rogue Engineering El Diablo stainless
muffler (no more rasp, deeper tone but not louder than stock), and an AFE cold
air intake. I have the stock exhaust and
airbox and will absolutely include in the sale.
The El Diablo muffler sounds great and looks even better with larger
polished exhaust tips. Top of the line
Alpine CDA-117 with Bluetooth integrated phone, iphone/ipod and trunk is prewired for a
subwoofer (RCA and line). Stock stereo
included as well. Paint is near flawless with the exception of a surface
scratch on the passenger door. Very
subtle. A few years back an empty coffee
can flew out of a pickup truck on the freeway and hit the left fog light and
part of the hood. I had the repair done
at Anthony’s Auto Craft in San Rafael, CA, which is the authorized repair shop
for Ferrari, Mercedes and BMW. Autocheck
reports the car was in an accident “left front corner” but this doesn’t report
the full picture. The car was not in a
collision; road debris caused the need for a cosmetic repair and the paintwork
was done at the best possible shop. I
stress ‘cosmetic’ because there was no body work needed, just repaint (hood and
bumper) and replace the foglight. I have
the invoice from Anthony’s for your review.
I hate to sell the M3 but my wife doesn’t drive manual shift. I bought this car in 2010 from a private
party with 36k miles and it had the factory warranty at that time. I can’t stress enough that this car has been
maintained very well; all service, oil changes and needed maintenance has been
performed at timely intervals. This M3 road
warrior is setup perfectly and will make the next owner very happy. |

2013 BMW M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition
Thu, 25 Jul 2013Sic Transit Gloria
I like difficult cars. I like turbo "moments," dramatic weight distribution, low-grip, peaky power delivery, and overly quick steering, along with ultra-short wheelbases and any number of other non-racecar-perfect dynamic foibles. I love the newest generation of BMW cars and engines - all turbo'd up with tons of torque and power everywhere in the rev range, too. But what I think the enthusiast community will miss when this 2013 M3 Coupe becomes the 2014 M4 Coupe - replacing its idiosyncratic, small-displacement, revvy V8 for something like a triple-turbo, directly injected, inline six-cylinder powerhouse in the process - is the work it takes to drive the car fast and perfectly. Sometimes small flaws just make things better; my mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun, and all that.
The idea of this E92 M3 going away then, magnified by the loss of the M3 badge for the coupe, is at best bittersweet for me. This generation of M car is already surpassed in terms of raw thrills by the better-than-ever Mercedes-Benz C63, a car that doesn't ask its driver to sacrifice low-end grunt or the very latest in amenities in return for stellar backroad performance. Yet any time I've been lucky enough to lap a track in the M3, it has quickly become clear that the Bimmer is the better on-edge tool. With the freedom to wring the neck of the 4.0-liter V8 and room to exercise the lovely balance of the car, the E92 is hard to match (even six years after its debut).
BMW makes X7 in Spartanburg official
Fri, 28 Mar 2014BMW has made it official - there will be a flagship crossover called X7, and it will be built right here in the US of A. The announcement was made today, confirming rumors of the new model at the Spartanburg, SC factory that broke earlier this week.
"Plant Spartanburg was built to enhance and expand the BMW lineup, underscoring the BMW Group commitment to the United States" said Dr. Norbert Reithofer, chairman of the BMW board of management in a statement. "In addition to the X3, X5, X6, and the new X4, we are today announcing another all-new, larger X model to be manufactured exclusively at this plant for our world markets: the X7."
BMW will spend $1 billion by 2016 upgrading its South Carolina factory, which already produces the X3, X5 and X6. The plant is currently capable of producing 300,000 units per year, but with the big investment from BMW, capacity will climb to 450,000 units. 800 jobs will be added as a result of the investment and new and upcoming models.
BMW 5 Series wagon makes incognito grocery run by way of the 'Ring
Mon, 21 Jul 2014With a debut in 2009, it's high time that BMW delivered the world with the standard mid-cycle refresh of its popular 5 Series. While we aren't expecting to see it here in the United States, that freshening will include the vehicle shown above, the 5 Series wagon.
This is only the second time we've spotted the camo'd, long-roof 5er in the past year, and while it was chained to a flat-bed in those snaps, today, we can see it lapping the Nürburgring. In addition to the images from the track, we also have our first look at the cabin of the freshened 5 Series, although even it is covered in camouflage, making it quite difficult to spot anything of substance.
As for the exterior, expect modest changes for the second-half of the F10 5er's life, with typical tweaks like new headlights and taillights, and perhaps a freshened front fascia. Considering we last saw the upcoming 5 Series just over a year ago, we'd expect an auto show debut for this smoothed-over model in the not-so-distant future, with Paris a leading candidate.
