2003.5 Imola Red BMW M3 Coupe SMG Transmission Single Owner Leather Interior Factory Installed Dinan Exhaust, Chip, And Cold Air Intake All Major Services Done, Full Maintenance Records Clear and clear title. Pink In hand.
Up for sale by original owner is a 2003 (BMW Called it 2003.5) Imola Red BMW M3 With SMG Transmission and Black Leather Interior. Car has LED break lights, Xenon headlamps, Single CD Player, Sun Roof, Cruise Control, AC, and factory 19" wheels. Power door locks, power windows. Mechanical leather seats. SMG Transmission is a paddle shifting 6 speed transmission and it also has an automatic mode. Everything on the car works great. Car was always meticulously maintained and I have all service records to prove that. All major service always done ahead of time. I recently had a new SMG pump installed so this car should have a lot of life before any additional major service needs to be done. Engine, drivetrain, and transmission are in excellent operational condition and were just inspected. Interior has normal wear from delicate use. Leather seats don't have any major damage. These cars were made extremely well. Tried and true design and there is a lot of life left on this car. Car was AWAYS garaged and when driven to work was parked in a parking structure. Paint is in perfect condition. Car has never been damaged or has had ANY body work done. 100% original. I had stonegaurd installed on on the front the week I bought it brand new which has significantly reduced road wear. Car has Dinan exhaust, Dinan chip, and Dinan cold air intake all installed by BMW. I also have the original muffler which is essentially brand new if the buyer wants it. Car has extremely minor wear. Paint has a few scratches, small dent on the top of the car. Extremely minor scuffs. For its age its in excellent condition. Windshield has 2 small cracks from road rocks but they aren't spreading. I did't see any reason to have to replace the windshield. SMG transmission was never launched and I can prove that via a scan tool. Never raced or tracked. Nothing was done to void the warranty. Car recently passed CA SMOG. Sounds great, drives great, runs great. Needs tires. Includes the factory manual and all corresponding manuals. Both keys and a plastic valet key. Brand new front license plate mount also included. This car is only being sold because my father passed away. He loved the car and had every intention to keep it forever. |

2014 BMW X5 configurator goes live
Sun, 28 Jul 2013BMW won't begin selling the 2014 X5 for another few months, but the German manufacturer has brought the third-generation SAV's configurator online, allowing interested customers to poke around and look at the X5's optional goodies.
Like the 3 Series, the X5 is available in a number of lines that load up extras automatically. There's also a do-it-yourself truck that allows owners to pick and choose if they're not enamored with the styling or trim of one of the dedicated packages. As usual, the options list is quite vast, regardless of which line is chosen. We were able to easily take the new, rear-drive X5 sDrive35i, which started at $52,800, and bring the total price up past $80,000.
The new X5 carries over its 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 from the current model, as well as BMW's excellent 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline-six. The X5 xDrive35d, with the 3.0-liter turbodiesel will also be available on the third-generation SUV, but won't hit dealers until early 2014. BMW is stepping outside of the X5's usual bounds, offering a dedicated rear-drive model, available with all the same trimmings as the xDrive vehicles. Head over to BMW's US consumer page and have a go.
Can the government mechanically force you to wear your seatbelt? [w/poll]
Fri, 30 Aug 2013
The National Highway Traffic Administration is considering the use of ignition interlocks in vehicles that would require the seatbelts of occupied seats to be fastened in order to drive the car, Automotive News reports, four decades after Congress moved to prevent manufacturers from installing them in cars sold in the US market. Following a transportation bill passed last year that lift some of the restrictions on seatbelt interlocks, automakers such as BMW are considering the benefits of using them in future cars. Now, before you go crying about your lost freedom, keep reading.
BMW said in an October 2012 petition that the use of seatbelt interlocks would allow the company to make lighter and more spacious vehicles, if the devices could be used in lieu of unbelted crash tests. The crash test has required the addition of bulky safety features, such as knee bolsters, that aren't as necessary when occupants are buckled up, especially when considering the dizzyng list of safety features that come standard on today's cars. Europe, which has a higher rate of seatbelt use than in the US, doesn't perform unbelted crash tests on cars sold there.
Weekly Recap: BMW rolls out ambitious plug-in hybrid electric plan
Sat, Dec 6 2014"We believe that for the United States, this is going to be very important." – Julian Arguelles Let there be no doubt, BMW is serious about electric vehicles. The German automaker said this week it will make plug-in hybrid versions of all of its core models, an aggressive move that demonstrates its commitment to electric propulsion systems. BMW did not specify which vehicles will get the plug-in systems or provide a timeline for when they will arrive. But the announcement is clearly more than blustering, and the company revealed a 3 Series plug-in prototype this week at an event in France. BMW said the 3 Series uses a version of its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (240 horsepower, 300 pound feet of torque) with an electric motor sandwiched between the engine and transmission in place of the torque converter. It has an all-electric range of 22 miles. A plug-in X5 with the same powertrain was also displayed alongside the 3 Series, though the X5 has been on the auto-show circuit for more than a year, including a recent stop in Los Angeles. Those two vehicles use "eDrive," and BMW's plans represent the first widespread transfer of its technology from development of the i3 and i8 models to more mainstream products. BMW said it's developing electric powertrains so they can be deployed rapidly across its range, and they are flexible enough to be used with fuel cells in future products. Enticingly, BMW is also working on a "Power eDrive" system, which debuted in a 5 Series GT concept at the event in France. This setup has two electric motors powered by a 20-kilowatt-hour battery pack, and when teamed with a four-cylinder turbo, pump out about 670 hp. Reinforcing BMW's commitment, the company will add more than 200 jobs at its factory in Dingolfing, Germany, to support electric-vehicle development. The moves come as BMW and other automakers diversify their portfolios while fuel economy and emissions regulations are getting tighter around the world. The United States has set a 54.5-mpg CAFE requirement for the 2025 model year. BMW said the electric vehicles were developed with an eye toward the US market, its government policies and its wide-ranging commuting styles. "We believe that for the United States, this is going to be very important," spokesman Julian Arguelles said. Ben Scott, a senior analyst in London with automotive research firm IHS, said BMW's moves are expensive – but necessary – to keep pace with the market.
