This is a stunning Titanium Silver 1998 BMW E36 M3. The M3 has been exceptionally well taken care of and the car truly speaks for itself. I purchased this car in June 2013 with 100K miles on it from a dealer who received it on a trade-in. I am the 2nd owner and have a stack of service records/receipts from the original owner that prove the car was well maintained. The car is an absolute blast to drive, no issues, and really stands out when compared to other E36 M3s that you see around. I recently purchased an 2003 (E46) M3 and decided to let this one go despite its superb history. It doesn't need any work and is ready to buy and drive! Condition and Details: Engine: Has a K&N intake which I have cleaned and re-oiled the filter once since owning. Other than that it is completely stock. It starts and runs excellently with no issues. A/C is ice cold and heater works. Exhaust: Stock exhaust is in great shape. The catalytic converter heat shields are slightly loose which caused a rattle. I eliminated this by tightening a coat hangar wire around them. This fix came recommended by my mechanic as it is a common issue and several workarounds exist. Transmission: Stock as well as all related parts. It shifts extremely smooth and the clutch has a great feel to it. Cooling System: Water pump, thermostat, and thermostat housing replaced at 79981 miles. Suspension: Stock suspension. Left front spring was broken when I bought the car which I replaced with a new stock one. Brakes: New front rotors (Brembo). Those were replaced to eliminate a vibration under braking due to the rotors being warped. All brakes work properly including E-brake. Wheels/Tires: M Forged Double Spoke staggered wheels; 17x7.5 Front and 17x8.5 Rear. Sumitomo HTR Z II tires. Body: Paint is exceptional for its age. It has a few blemishes shown in the photos. No dents anywhere on the car. I painted the front bumper and front lip because both were considerably scratched with rock chips, scratches, etc. and needed to be freshened up. Headlights are DEPO Euro Glass Ellipsoids with Phillips Diamond Vision 5000k H7 bulbs. Front turn signals are DEPO smoked corner lights with "stealth" bulbs that look silver but flash orange. Sidemarkers are DEPO smoked sidemarkers with "stealth" bulbs as well. No orange shows through the plastic for a nice clean look. Tail lights are DEPO Euro-style clear lights. Stock fog lights. Kidney grills are painted black to give it a more aggressive look. Interior: Black electronically adjustable Vader seats are in great shape. Rear seats are in great shape as well. All electronics, lights, and gauges work. Gauge cluster looks great and has no issues whatsoever. No dead pixels in any of the displays. On board computer and radio are fully functional. Trunk mounted 6 CD changer works as well. No service engine lights as long as I've owned the car. I replaced the stock 4-spoke steering wheel with the more desirable 3-spoke M Sport wheel. Carpet is in excellent shape with no rips or stains. Illuminated 5-speed M shift knob functions perfectly and looks great when lit up at night. Extras: Original owners manual, original window sticker, maintenance records, full size spare, factory jack, tire iron, tool kit, wheel locks. BMW ponders increase in i3 production capacity on early demand
Wed, 16 Oct 2013The 2014 BMW i3 is not slated to hit US showrooms until the second quarter of next year, but the response BMW has received for the all-electric hatchback has been positive enough that the automaker is already considering boosting production capacity. Bloomberg Businessweek reports that more than 8,000 customers have reserved an i3 so far, which is high, especially considering that BMW only planned to sell 10,000 i3s total in 2014.
Talking to BMW CFO Friedrich Eichiner, the report says that if the demand holds for the i3, BMW would increase capacity accordingly. The i3 goes on sale next month in Germany before a global roll out in the US, China and Japan, and with a starting price of $41,350, it is priced slightly higher than current small plug-in vehicles offered in the US like the Chevy Volt, Ford Focus Electric and Toyota Prius Plug-in, though features more use of advanced, lightweight materials.
Two new RWD Toyota sports cars to join FR-S?

According to Australian site Car Advice, the Japanese brand known for bland cruisers like the Camry and Corolla is preparing to bring two new rear-drive cars to market that would slot above and below the Scion-badged FR-S. This is very, very good news.
Car Advice spoke to the GT86/FR-S' chief engineer, Tatsuya Tada, who claimed, "Akio Toyoda always says to me, Toyota sports car [family] should be three sports car brothers. 86 is in the middle." The oldest "brother" would be the spiritual successor to the Supra, even if it doesn't wear that name. Tada is in charge of that project, while a sub-GT86 project is being headed-up elsewhere.
Tada refused to comment on names (CA specifically mentions MR2 and Celica) for the new small car, but did say that, "Yes it is rear-wheel drive and that's Toyota's strong position - Toyota sports car must be rear-wheel drive." Perhaps the juiciest bit of information obtained from Tada's interview with Car Advice was his hinting that both new sports cars would be joint ventures, like the GT86/FR-S/Subaru BRZ triplets. Tada wouldn't say who Toyota was in bed with on the smaller model, but did mention that the Supra would be a product of the world's largest automaker's partnership with BMW.
BMW's new strategy: Electric everything

Sources speaking to German business daily Handelsblatt claim that BMW is in the midst of planning an executive shuffle that will also include a big shift in its electric vehicle strategy. While the company would still offer ground-up EV designs like the i3, the new strategy would greenlight electric versions of some of BMW's most important vehicles, including the 3-series sedan, X4 crossover, and iconic Mini. If the leak is accurate, management is likely to approve the change at the end of September. We've asked BMW for its take on the report, although it declined to comment to Handelsblatt. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Munich crew change tack, though. While Tesla has received hundreds of thousands of Model 3 pre-orders, i3 sales dropped in 2016 – the upscale (if oddly-shaped) EV just isn't as hot as it once was.
