Up for sale is a nice 1997 BMW M3 selling at NO RESERVE. Final bid owns this beautiful machine. This is the 4 door sedan version with the highly sought after luxury package. This recent trade in is in need of some work but would be the perfect vehicle for someone with the mechanical aptitude to get it running perfectly again. These cars are truly one of the best deals in a sports car around. When the E36 M3 hit the market, Car and Driver dubbed them "The Best Handling Car at Any Price". One drive and you will see what they mean. The car always feels in complete control of the drivers hands and is solidly planted when taken into corners. The light, yet evenly distributed weight of the car makes the car seem even faster that what you would expect looking at the motor specifications on paper(240hp). Despite being ready for the track from the factory, these vehicles make excellent daily drivers. I have had a number of this generation M3 and I generally average 20mpg city and 28mpg highway. For those familiar with the platform, you are well aware of their durability but for those new to these cars,it is unheard of to hear of a motor wearing out on this generation of M3....there are plenty on the road with over 300k miles and running good as new.
Here is a detailed rundown of the condition:
Exterior: The exterior of this vehicle is in good shape for any vehicle....much less one this old/with as many miles. The paint is still glossy and the only notable body "damage" is a small crack on the lower lip of the front bumper. As expected, there are numerous rock chips on the front bumper. I would say this car is in the condition you would expect of an average 80k mile car, if not better. The wheels on this car are in amazing condition. They must be off of a lower mile vehicle because they show no signs of wear/age. The tires are nearly new and have about 90% tread on them. The right front tire has a slight bulge on one of the sidewalls. The car does have a spare tire but the wheel is bent on the lip.
Interior: The interior is in good to decent condition and shows no signs of ever having been smoked in. The power sunroof works as it should and all windows except the drivers side window work. This vehicle comes with the luxury package which brings with it two tone seats, wood grain interior and heated seats(and premium HK sound). The hood latch inside is broken and you need pliers to pull the cable. Drivers inside door panel is loose...I assume the previous owner was going to replace the window motor.
Engine: The engine runs extremely strong with no odd knocks or noises. The engine runs as strong as the M3's ive had with only 50k miles on them.
Transmission: There is a transmission or sensor issue that causes the following: for the first couple of minutes of driving, the car "bogs down" and seems like it is stuck in 4th gear from the start. After warming up and driving for a few minutes, the car shifts as it should. Once on the interstate or highway, it shifts between the gears flawlessly and the motor runs like a top. I am looking more into the issue but perhaps you know more about it. Either way, at worst case scenario, used transmissions routinely go for $300-$500 for these cars and are not difficult to install as transmissions go or would be the perfect candidate for a manual transmission swap.
For what I suspect this vehicle will sell for, you would be able to part it out for a good profit. I cannot bring myself to do this with the vehicle being in such good shape. I have driven this car for an hour straight without it leaving me stranded but since I don't drive it every day, I would not recommend taking it on a road trip any longer than that.
I take great pride in fully disclosing the condition of my vehicles. Please call with any questions you may have about the car and let me know if I can help locate an auto transport company for you. There is a mandatory $120 dealer doc. fee on all ebay/internet sales
NOTE: $500 deposit due within 24hrs of auctions end. After this point, it will be offered to the next highest bidder if you cannot complete the transaction. Full payment due within 10 days of auctions end.

2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e Review [w/video]
Wed, Dec 23 2015BMW is no stranger to electrification. The company put the world on notice with the launch of its innovative i sub-brand. But the lessons learned from the i3 and i8 aren't limited to these small-volume cars. The more mainstream X5 xDrive40e impresses with lessons learned from i, all without compromising the SUV's character. The combination of a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor is good for 308 overall horsepower and 302 pound-feet of torque. Sure, 240 hp and 260 lb-ft come from the four-cylinder engine alone, but the electric motor – integrated within the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission's housing – chips in a maximum of 111 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The 9.2-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery can sock away enough electricity to drive up to 14 miles on a single charge and will recharge at your average 110-volt socket in about seven hours. Of course, the battery pack and electric motor are a big weight penalty. At 5,220 pounds, the xDrive40e is 430 pounds heavier than the standard xDrive35i. Still, the gas-electric powertrain hustles this husky X5 40e to 60 miles per hour in just 6.5 seconds, less than half a second slower than the 35i. The stopwatch figures are complemented by the best fuel economy of any gas-powered X5, at 56 miles per gallon equivalent and 24 mpg combined. Only the diesel X5 xDrive35d is more efficient, at 27 mpg. But achieving top fuel economy in the 40e isn't as simple as going easy on the throttle. Perhaps more than any vehicle we've tested recently, understanding how all the X5's systems work together is crucial to eking out the most mpgs. The xDrive40e's Drive Dynamics Control will be familiar to anyone that's driven a recent BMW. Eco Pro, Comfort (the default mode), and Sport make the same adjustments to the throttle response, steering weight, and dynamic damper firmness as they do in a standard X5. But in the xDrive40e, they also impact the way energy is recaptured. Comfort/Save offers the best blend of fuel efficiency while achieving maximum energy recapture. Sport mode's aggressive energy recovery is the fastest way to recharge the battery on the go. When it's working, there's a sensation similar to gently stepping on the brakes, though you actually aren't doing anything – this is a familiar experience to the way most EVs use regenerative braking. Comfort mode reduces this effect, and in turn how much energy is recaptured.
Carmakers, NHTSA to unveil auto-emergency braking agreement tomorrow
Wed, Mar 16 2016Happy St. Patrick's Day Eve. Tomorrow, there will be green beer, corned beef and cabbage, and automatic emergency braking for all. Weird combo, we know. But on St. Patty's we can expect an official announcement from a pact of automakers making auto-braking systems standard equipment by 2022. That's per a report from Reuters, which cites three sources familiar with the plans. Originally announced in September 2015 by 10 automakers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the agreement is expected to be even larger when the details are unveiled tomorrow. According to Reuters, the manufacturers of 99 percent of the US domestic market's vehicles will be represented by the new agreement. It's believed that standard AEB systems could prevent thousands of accidents across the country. Expect more on the official announcement when it's made. Related Video:
2014 BMW R NineT
Tue, 26 Aug 2014BMW is taking a page from the Harley-Davidson playbook with its groundbreaking R NineT. A retro cafe racer with an urban hooligan twist, the bike is fully customizable from fork to exhaust. Of course, any motorcycle can be customized, but the fact that BMW has built its newest bike to encourage modification using parts that can be swapped with simple tools is a radical move for a motorcycle maker best known for its plug-and-play touring bikes.
To underscore exactly how radical, BMW has even partnered with custom heavy-hitter Roland Sands Design, which developed the initial concept for the bike and is now manufacturing a full line of parts and accessories for the R NineT, including radial valve covers ($950), retro racing saddles ($400-$420), radial gauge housing ($400) and a radial headlight bezel ($250), among other things, all of which can be swapped with a socket wrench or screwdriver instead of a hacksaw, wire cutters and TIG welder.
Alas, the bike I tested for two weeks was stock, so consider it a blank canvas.
