Up for sale is a nice 1997 BMW M3 selling at NO RESERVE. Final bid owns this beautiful machine. This is the 4 door sedan version with the highly sought after luxury package. This recent trade in is in need of some work but would be the perfect vehicle for someone with the mechanical aptitude to get it running perfectly again. These cars are truly one of the best deals in a sports car around. When the E36 M3 hit the market, Car and Driver dubbed them "The Best Handling Car at Any Price". One drive and you will see what they mean. The car always feels in complete control of the drivers hands and is solidly planted when taken into corners. The light, yet evenly distributed weight of the car makes the car seem even faster that what you would expect looking at the motor specifications on paper(240hp). Despite being ready for the track from the factory, these vehicles make excellent daily drivers. I have had a number of this generation M3 and I generally average 20mpg city and 28mpg highway. For those familiar with the platform, you are well aware of their durability but for those new to these cars,it is unheard of to hear of a motor wearing out on this generation of M3....there are plenty on the road with over 300k miles and running good as new.
Here is a detailed rundown of the condition:
Exterior: The exterior of this vehicle is in good shape for any vehicle....much less one this old/with as many miles. The paint is still glossy and the only notable body "damage" is a small crack on the lower lip of the front bumper. As expected, there are numerous rock chips on the front bumper. I would say this car is in the condition you would expect of an average 80k mile car, if not better. The wheels on this car are in amazing condition. They must be off of a lower mile vehicle because they show no signs of wear/age. The tires are nearly new and have about 90% tread on them. The right front tire has a slight bulge on one of the sidewalls. The car does have a spare tire but the wheel is bent on the lip.
Interior: The interior is in good to decent condition and shows no signs of ever having been smoked in. The power sunroof works as it should and all windows except the drivers side window work. This vehicle comes with the luxury package which brings with it two tone seats, wood grain interior and heated seats(and premium HK sound). The hood latch inside is broken and you need pliers to pull the cable. Drivers inside door panel is loose...I assume the previous owner was going to replace the window motor.
Engine: The engine runs extremely strong with no odd knocks or noises. The engine runs as strong as the M3's ive had with only 50k miles on them.
Transmission: There is a transmission or sensor issue that causes the following: for the first couple of minutes of driving, the car "bogs down" and seems like it is stuck in 4th gear from the start. After warming up and driving for a few minutes, the car shifts as it should. Once on the interstate or highway, it shifts between the gears flawlessly and the motor runs like a top. I am looking more into the issue but perhaps you know more about it. Either way, at worst case scenario, used transmissions routinely go for $300-$500 for these cars and are not difficult to install as transmissions go or would be the perfect candidate for a manual transmission swap.
For what I suspect this vehicle will sell for, you would be able to part it out for a good profit. I cannot bring myself to do this with the vehicle being in such good shape. I have driven this car for an hour straight without it leaving me stranded but since I don't drive it every day, I would not recommend taking it on a road trip any longer than that.
I take great pride in fully disclosing the condition of my vehicles. Please call with any questions you may have about the car and let me know if I can help locate an auto transport company for you. There is a mandatory $120 dealer doc. fee on all ebay/internet sales
NOTE: $500 deposit due within 24hrs of auctions end. After this point, it will be offered to the next highest bidder if you cannot complete the transaction. Full payment due within 10 days of auctions end.

2013 BMW R1200GS and HP4 duel at Circuito de Almeria
Wed, 05 Jun 2013The 2013 BMW HP4 is the track-ready version of the manufacturer's already mighty S1000RR, which puts the bike at the very tip top of the two-wheeled BMW food chain. The R1200GS, meanwhile, is intended to be a somewhat more utilitarian machine. Capable of conveying both rider and gear over vast distances and uncertain terrain, the big-boy GS is the Swiss army knife to the HP4's rapier. Or at least that's what we've always been led to believe. BMW recently rolled out some footage during a press launch that showed the R1200GS is actually no slouch when it comes time to sling around a road course.
The company threw both bikes on Spain's Circuito de Almeria for a little sparring match, and miraculously, the HP4 didn't just up and walk away from the R1200GS. From from it. Instead, the two stay tightly matched through most of the course before something surprising happens. We won't spoil the ending for you. Is it possible the rider on the HP4 still had some in reserve? Sure, but from the sound and look of things, neither bike was giving an inch. Check out all the video action below for yourself.
BMW M4 sheds some camouflage for latest test run
Fri, 15 Mar 2013Last time we saw the upcoming BMW M4 out testing, it was heavily clad with camouflage and decidedly homely looking (as most early development mules are). But in this latest set of photos, the M3 coupe successor has started to come into its own skin, and we're seeing a shape more closely akin to that of a rendering we brought you a few months back.
Unsurprisingly, the M4 coupe looks very similar to the 4 Series Concept that BMW debuted at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. And while non-M version of the 4er will likely look a bit more sedate, these spy shots clearly show an aggressive front fascia, large wheels and the usual quad-exhaust rounding out the rear end.
Naturally, the M3 sedan will launch before this M4 coupe (and convertible), and powertrain details are still unclear as of this writing. We understand that the current M3's naturally aspirated V8 will be axed in favor of some sort of turbocharged six-cylinder engine, and we've heard plenty of rumors as to what, exactly, it might be, but we have yet to hear any official confirmation.
2015 BMW M3 squares off against Alpina D3 in gas vs. diesel throwdown
Sat, 26 Jul 2014There was a time when diesel meant one of two things: This vehicle's owner either wants to save some money at the pump or needs to haul massive loads. It definitely did not mean that the owner of said machine wanted to drive fast, but that perception has slowly but surely been changing over the last several years, with automakers from Volkswagen and Ford to Audi and BMW offering spiced-up versions of their high-compression, turbocharged diesels.
It's that last automaker we mentioned that's the subject of the video you'll see down below. One bright-blue BMW M3 was procured by the Brits at Autocar, and it was lined up against a deep-black Alpina D3 (which we sadly can't buy in the US) in a spate of tests, including acceleration, stopping, sound and lap times on a closed circuit. The results, which we won't spoil for you, were enlightening, and were followed up by personal impressions from the man behind the wheel.
We know you're curious. All it takes to find out which of these 3.0-liter, twin-turbo-powered 3 Series variants came out on top is to scroll down below and watch. You know what to do.
