1988 BMW E30 M3 Thank you for viewing my auction. Up for sale is a original 1988 BMW E30 M3 coupe. I flew down to Alabama and drove this car back 950 miles to NJ, she runs great! The car is finished in Lachssilber-Metallic code 203/7. The mileage is 148,140. The history of the car is clean 2 owners with no accidents. This is a 100% stock car with no modifications, the way it should be. Condition- Mechanically the car runs great. The engine runs very smoothly no issues. The clutch operates great and grabs no problem, and the transmission shifts well. All electronics work, even the trip computer pixels read fine! The A/C blows ice cold. The car was repainted at some point. There are spots around the vehicle where the clear coat is peeling. There is peeling on the hood, roof, C pillar on the passenger side, and the top of the deck lid and a small crack in the paint on the rear spoiler. The front seats are sun faded, but not torn. The rear seat is in great shape, the leather is still soft. The headliner is in good shape and is not torn or sagging. The dash has cracks which is common on these. I have all the original books for the car, and tons of records. I have part of the original window sticker, and the original purchase order from 1987! BMW i3 with range extender could arrive after HOV stickers run out in CA
Tue, Feb 25 2014We will weep for the BMW i3 REx owner with ticket #40,001 for California's green HOV stickers. While the standard-issue battery-electric i3 has been deemed eligible for the state's white stickers, which allow for owners to drive in HOV lanes solo, the proverbial jury of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is still out on the BMW i3 REx, which will have a little-bitty range-extender on board, Transport Evolved says. The issue is that, while there is an unlimited number of white stickers for pure EVs such as the Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model S, the state has limited the number of green stickers, which grant solo-HOV access to plug-in hybrids and extended-range plug-ins, to 40,000. And with almost 29,000 green stickers given out as of the end of last year to cars such as the Chevrolet Volt and the Toyota Prius Plug In, they may run out within two months. The other key point is that the waiting list for the i3 with a range extender is running at about six months as of January, that could cause a bit of hand-wringing among folks looking to buy the REx. BMW said earlier this year that the extended-range version of the i3 would qualify for white stickers because the car is a so-called BEVx, meaning that its range-extender's full-tank range is less than the electric motor's single-charge range. BMW designed the i3 with a small range-extender tank of just 2.4 gallons, but the automaker estimated that California's green stickers wouldn't run out until the end of 2014.

Traditionally, nominations for the Autoblog Technology of the Year award are earned for specific developments - a new-think powertrain, a uniquely developed material, a groundbreaking smartphone app, or what have you. In the case of BMW's marvelous i8, it so bristles with novel applied sciences and fresh features that we broke with tradition and nominated the entire car.
We just couldn't help ourselves. Oh, we could've focused on the i8's carbon-fiber monocoque, or its well-resolved plug-in-hybrid powertrain that incorporates a tiny 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine and an electric motor, or its seamless through-the-road all-wheel drive. This is a car that will even have frickin' laser beams for headlights - at least it will for our friends in Europe (and it will in the US, should our legislators ever catch up).
BMW says 80 percent of i3 plug-in EV buyers come from other brands
Sat, Jun 7 2014BMW is feeling continued good vibes from its recently launched i sub-brand of plug-in vehicles. The German automaker, which started selling its i3 battery-electric vehicle in Europe late last year, is finding better-than-expected demand for both the i3 and the i8 plug-in hybrid, Automotive News Europe says, citing an interview with BMW executive Ian Robertson. The i3 is attracting a lot of new blood, too. Robertson said about 80 percent of new i3 owners were not previously Ultimate Driving Machine loyalists, indicating the curiosity factor for the company's new plug-in models runs high, Robertson says. BMW has sold more than 3,000 i3 vehicles since debuting the model in Europe last November. In April, the company boosted daily production of the i3 from its German factory to about 100 units from 70. Read more from Robertson here. Europe's largest markets for the i3 are the UK, Germany and Norway. In the US, BMW sold 336 i3 vehicles in May, its first month of sales here. The i3 was recently rated to go 81 miles on a single charge when it has an electric engine only.
