Huntington Beach, California, United States
I am listing this great 05 645Ci Convertible for a close friend and have known the car since he ordered the car brand new. The car is being sold as he is semi retired and this great sports car is not as convenient for extended vacations and hauling the grand kids, an SUV has taken it's place. In triple black it is a very desirable combination and shows very well with virtually no paint defects and none that can be seen in even detailed photos. Everything works as it should. The tires and a complete brake job including rotors was completed at 46,585 miles. Always serviced with Mobil 1 a complete service was done at 58,788 miles. Numerous maintenance records are available and as stated, everything works on this car as it should.
The original price as seen by the photo of the window sticker was $86,740.00 with options including Cold Weather Package $750.00, Premium Sound Package $1,800.00, Sport Package $2,800.00, Active Cruise Control $2,200.00, Head Up Display $1,000.00, Satellite Radio $595.00. This car has never been in an accident and is owned by a non smoker. You will not be disappointed in this 645Ci and will look like you are driving an $87,000 car for a fraction of the original price. Please carefully read this next line: DO NOT AND I REPEAT, DO NOT BID ON THIS CAR UNLESS YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO COMPLETE THE PURCHASE, I CONSIDER YOUR WINNING BID A CONTRACT TO PURCHASE, SO BE SURE YOU HAVE PERMISSION FROM YOUR SPOUSE, SIGNIFICANT OTHER, LOAN OFFICER, BEST FRIEND, ETC. While I have endeavored to describe this vehicle through words and photos as accurately as possible I WELCOME AND ENCOURAGE A PERSONAL INSPECTION and am happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability. This vehicle is listed locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time for any reason. The Homer to contest 24 Hours of LeMons
Thu, 27 Jun 2013It's finally happened. A 24 Hours of LeMons team has built the definitive interpretation of The Homer from The Simpsons for competition in an upcoming race. As you may recollect, The Homer is the fictional car designed by Homer Simpson for his brother's car company. Designed with a separate compartment for screaming children and other Homer-centric goodies, the animated machine bankrupted its parent company and put Homer's brother out of a job. Now we get to watch it race other crap cans as it tackles Southern California's Buttonwillow Raceway on June 29. Scott Chamberlain, Kris Linquist, Reid Conti, Ben Reilly and Mike Yepes will helm the machine, and Jeff Herman serves as the team's creative director.
The racer is the latest incarnation of a well-abused BMW 3 Series. The team campaigned the same E30 under the "Prickstine" banner as a Chrysler Imperial tribute and "Porcubimmer," the latter being a riff on the ever-popular joke about the difference between porcupines and BMW models. Never gets old. You can check out a video of the finished Homer below, and be sure to like the team on Facebook to see updates from the race. Now, about that Canyonero...
Permanent erection lawsuit against BMW thrown out
Wed, 19 Mar 2014The California man who claimed that he suffered from a 20-month erection after a four-hour ride on his BMW K1100RS motorcycle (similar model pictured above) has had his case dismissed. It seems the court found his claims too hard to believe.
Henry Wolf filed a product liability lawsuit against BMW and seatmaker Corbin-Pacific in the California Superior Court in April 2012 after he claimed a motorcycle ride in September 2010 caused a long-term case of priapism from the "ridge-like" saddle design. He asked for compensation for lost wages, medical expenses and emotional distress from both companies.
Nearly two years later, according to Visor Down, Judge James J. McBride decided that the case didn't have enough supporting evidence. A urologist testified that the plaintiff had priapism, but the court rejected the testimony of a neurologist who claimed the motorcycle's vibration caused the disorder. The defendants presented testimony from the bike's former and subsequent owners. Corbin-Pacific CEO Mike Corbin also spoke in the company's defense.
2015 BMW i8 [w/video]
Mon, 28 Apr 2014The most important thing to keep in mind while driving BMW's all-new i8 is that it's not a product of the company's vaunted M division.
Sleek sports-coupe design, carbon-fiber construction and blistering acceleration may cause automotive enthusiasts to drool, but the i8 has not been conceptualized, engineered or assembled to be another one of BMW's world-class track stars. Instead, the i8 has been hatched as a progressive sports car from the Bavarian outfit's new i division, which "represents visionary electric vehicles and mobility services, inspiring design and a new understanding of premium that is strongly defined by sustainability." Think of it as thrilling, but with an engaging environmental twist.
It's nearly impossible to walk up to the i8 with stopping twenty feet short and taking in its styling. There's no other production car as visually fascinating - this BMW is showroom-ready sculpture that captures all of the essence of the Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept that wowed crowds at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The wind sees it as a 0.26 drag coefficient, but humans will study its beautifully crafted carbon fiber and glass panels and realize they're in the presence of the future.
