Miami, Florida, United States
FOLKS THIS IS THE L6!! EASILY ONE OF THE MOST LUXURIOUS AUTOMOBILES OF IT'S TIME AND SECOND ONLY TO THE LEGENDARY M6, ONLY A LITTLE OVER 1300 WERE PRODUCED FOR THE U.S. MARKET AND THE CAR LISTED FOR $53,000.00 IN 1987. THIS ONE IS A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE AND SHOWS ONLY 58600 MILES ON THE FUNCTIONAL 6 DIGIT ODOMETER, WE HAVE NO DOCUMENTATION TO VERIFY THE MILEAGE AS ORIGINAL, BUT JUDGING BY THE OVERALL CONDITION OF THE CAR, THE WEAR ON THE PEDALS AND THE INTERIOR IT COULD VERY WELL BE. THE ENGINE BAY IS CLEAN AND UNMOLESTED, OIL AND SLUDGE FREE, THE CAR STARTS RIGHT UP EVERY TIME EVEN AFTER HAVING SAT FOR DAYS, RUNS AND SOUNDS GOOD, HAS GOOD POWER AND DOES NOT SMOKE, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SMOOTH AND PRECISE AND THE SUSPENSION IS TIGHT, NO NOISES OR RATTLES, GOOD BRAKES AND 4 BRAND NEW TIRES LESS THEN 50 MILES AGO, ALSO ALIGNED WITH NO ISSUES, ICE COLD AC, POWER WINDOWS, SEATS, MIRRORS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL ARE FUNCTIONAL. THE SPARE TIRE LOOKS TO BE THE ORIGINAL AND HAS NEVER SEEN THE PAVEMENT. THE BAD: THE FRONT FAN BLOWER MOTOR NEEDS REPLACING, (AC HAS DUAL FANS FRONT & REAR) RIGHT REAR WINDOW MOTOR NEEDS REPLACING (EASY FIX) FRONT BRAKE SENSOR IS SENDING "BRAKE LINING" SIGNAL BUT BRAKES ARE FINE (NEEDS SENSOR) THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE CAR PAINTED BUT THEY DID IT NO JUSTICE, THE CAR SHOWS NICELY FROM TEN FEET AWAY BUT WHEN YOU REALLY DETAIL THE WORK YOU CAN SEE THE POOR WORKMANSHIP, THIS CAR DESERVES BETTER. WE REQUIRE $500.00 DEPOSIT VIA PAYPAL WITHIN 24 HOURS OF AUCTION END AND FULL PAYMENT WITHIN 7 DAYS, WE WILL ASSIST THE BUYER WITH SHIPPING AND STORAGE BUT ALL RELATED EXPENSES ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER. 2013 BMW M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition
Thu, 25 Jul 2013Sic Transit Gloria
I like difficult cars. I like turbo "moments," dramatic weight distribution, low-grip, peaky power delivery, and overly quick steering, along with ultra-short wheelbases and any number of other non-racecar-perfect dynamic foibles. I love the newest generation of BMW cars and engines - all turbo'd up with tons of torque and power everywhere in the rev range, too. But what I think the enthusiast community will miss when this 2013 M3 Coupe becomes the 2014 M4 Coupe - replacing its idiosyncratic, small-displacement, revvy V8 for something like a triple-turbo, directly injected, inline six-cylinder powerhouse in the process - is the work it takes to drive the car fast and perfectly. Sometimes small flaws just make things better; my mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun, and all that.
The idea of this E92 M3 going away then, magnified by the loss of the M3 badge for the coupe, is at best bittersweet for me. This generation of M car is already surpassed in terms of raw thrills by the better-than-ever Mercedes-Benz C63, a car that doesn't ask its driver to sacrifice low-end grunt or the very latest in amenities in return for stellar backroad performance. Yet any time I've been lucky enough to lap a track in the M3, it has quickly become clear that the Bimmer is the better on-edge tool. With the freedom to wring the neck of the 4.0-liter V8 and room to exercise the lovely balance of the car, the E92 is hard to match (even six years after its debut).
Mercedes says it's tops in luxury sales for 2012, not BMW
Tue, 19 Feb 2013It turns out that Mercedes-Benz North America has legitimate claim to being the top selling luxury nameplate in the US in 2012.
While sources such as Autodata had put BMW in the top spot, registration data from R.L. Polk shows that Mercedes customers registering new vehicles topped the Bavarian automaker in the most recent calendar year. Polk says Benz posted 274,123 registrations, compared with BMW's 268,498.
In terms of sales posted, BMW had bested Benz 281,460 to 274,134. But sales are recorded somewhat inconsistently from automaker to automaker. Some book the sales as soon as they are shipped from factory to dealer. There is perennial gamesmanship between the two German rivals, and the sales numbers suggest that BMW pushed out some extra sheetmetal to dealers in the last four weeks of the year.
Take a look at the shocking Rolls-Royce Next 100 concept
Thu, Jun 16 2016Rolls-Royce showed off its Vision Next 100 concept today in London, giving a look at what its vehicles might look like a century years from now. Each BMW brand will show its own concept this year; BMW's Vision Next 100 concept was an interesting mix of textile-like patterns with stretchy fenders and a very 2010s four-door coupe shape, but this Rolls-Royce concept looks more like a luxury version of a World Solar Challenge racer. The car's official title is 103EX, following the convention of recent Roller concepts. Whereas its BMW counterpart was perhaps a safe, predictable vision of the future, the Rolls is a striking vehicle and a big departure for the brand. Whether it works as a whole for you or not, it represents the kind of stylistic provocation that made ex-BMW stylist Chris Bangle a household name. While the early Bangle cars were extremely controversial, this Rolls concept is clearly the heir of his penchant for sharply creased character lines. Call the rocker panel crease flame surfacing if you want. The floating headlamps and blade-edged verticality of the fenders are classic Rolls: imposing and visually heavy, without necessarily being classically beautiful. The square, flat grille is, to my eyes, much less successfully integrated. It seems like Rolls had the perfect opportunity to evolve the trademark grille into something more contemporary. In 100 years, the brand will still need to lean on this sort of anachronism? That seems short-sighted. We'll have more on this concept from our man on the ground in London later today.
