You are bidding on a clean and well kept 1984 BMW 633 csi. This is a single family owned vehicle as it was my mothers, then she gave it to me and I've had it for the last 6 years. I was a little boy with big eyes when she brought it home brand new from the dealership in 1984 and it's been ours ever since.

The bad: Cruise control doesn't work, the OBC is literally on the "blink" (though I have a new one), the rear defog works, but is weak, the AC is a brand new R134a converted system, but is not strong for some reason (didn't hold up in Texas in the summer for sure) and the sunroof leaks a little during heavy rains (though seems fine when on the move and you shouldn't be driving it in the rain anyway!!).

The awesome: Custom 2 year old Stebro stainless cat back exhaust with Magnaflo high flow cat, M6 Recaro seats, M Tech shifter knob, boot and steering wheel (it's a bitch to find coarse spline steering wheels), custom M Tech colored valve cover, new Roundels and new hub caps, all maintenance records of what I have done to the car, new tail lenses (and I refurbished the frames myself), new headlight wiring harness, new Bosch ignition coil, new hydraulic brake accumulator ("brake bomb"), repaired speedo/odo with new bulky solder, urethane lines and on and on...

Look, this is a family heirloom and I've cared for it basically a good portion of my life. No BS here, no accidents, maintained either by the dealer or myself, 3 winters it's seen in 28 years and 82,000 original miles. I'm selling it because I have a little boy, a wife and as a Federal Employee Obama is breaking our balls. The car fires up regardless of how long I leave it, but the car likes to be driven and it's fun as heck to drive, especially with that exhaust note. I have a TON of pics of the various refurb processes I've put the car through. Interestingly the car tends to garner more attention than I ever would have thought so keep that in mind too. Car has NO dash cracks and NO seat flaws. Carpet is also in excellent condition and the car does not have that old gas/car stench. Smells like a clean well kept vehicle.

I'll also include a fully refurbished never used set of 530I sport rims for a negotiated price if you are interested.

Researchers halfway to cutting carbon fiber costs by 90%

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

Carbon fiber has been utilized for decades to build racecars, as a means to cut weight while maintaining strength. But until recently, the space-age material has been largely absent from the street on anything but supercars because of the expense to use it. Recently, BMW signaled a major shift in that trend when it starting using carbon fiber reinforced plastic panels on the i3 and i8. This relatively small scale start might be just the beginning; the German company believes that a breakthrough to inexpensively manufacture the lightweight stuff is just on the horizon.
MAI Carbon Cluster Management GmbH counts BMW, Audi, Airbus, the German government and many other organizations as supporters, and it's researching how to make carbon fiber cheaper to produce, according to Automotive News Europe. The company thinks it can reduce costs by 90 percent in the near future. "We've certainly reached a halfway point on our cost-cutting target for suitable carbon-fiber parts," said project head Klaus Drechsler to Automotive News Europe.
Unfortunately, it isn't entirely clear just what MAI Carbon is doing to make such a huge leap possible. However, a recent post on the company's website talks about a new form a carbon fiber using a thermoplastic matrix that could be cured in less than three minutes. That's compared to about 90 minutes in the traditional process with an autoclave.

April Fools' Day brings Jeep Sedan, Hyundai N Roadster, Toyota Yaris pickup and more

Mon, Apr 1 2019

There is one day out of the year when public relations professionals have permission to lie to journalists and to the public: April Fools' Day. Manufacturers release details about wild, weird and wacky new technology, concept vehicles and services. Some take it to obvious outlandish extremes (Jeep Sedan anybody?), while others plot to mislead with products that are just outside the realm of possibility. Check out all the "jokes" below. BMW Motorrad BMW doesn't want to exclude anybody from experiencing the thrill of high-level racing, so it is introducing 'iRace" autonomous programming on its S 1000 RR sport bike. It includes beginner, sportsman, advanced and unlimited driving modes, and stores GPS information for all Superbike world championship tracks. Hyundai Hyundai is wrong for this. The Hyundai N Roadster is the work of South Korean designer Yeonjoon Park and features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, rear-wheel drive and a hard convertible top. Hyundai says this is a "concept (for now)," but we think it'd make a seriously great Mazda Miata competitor. Honda Honda wins the award for the best interactive gimmick, as its press release for the '90s-inspired special-edition Pastport includes a live hotline number with a message from Fred Savage. Call 1-833-PASTPORT for more information. Jeep Put the Jeep Cherokee face on the Chrysler 300's body, and voila! The 2019 Jeep Sedan is born. We can't decide if the name or the rendering is better. Land Rover Accessibility to charging ports is of major concern to anybody with a plug-in vehicle. So, with the recent launch of the Range Rover P400e and Range Rover Sport P400e, Land Rover is putting forth an effort to install more stations around the globe. First up is Scotland's Isle of Skye. Adventurers need juice too! Lexus Australia Lexus expands its Encore service to include doggos. The new service, called Enpaw, will take pups to luxury boarding kennels in style. Toyota U.S. Toyota created the Yaris Adventure pickup for "those who want to tell their friends they own a truck but never veer off pavement." It's part Mazda 2, part RAV4, 100 percent ute and it looks ... great? Creating a new segment might be all fun and games to Toyota, but Ford is reportedly considering a Focus-based ute in a similar, albeit larger, style. Toyota Australia Toyota is launching a new HiAce van, and it's already getting a limited-edition variant called the PieAce.
