THIS 1987 BMW L6 WAS JUST TRADED IN AT A LOCAL NEW CAR STORE HERE IN SARASOTA. IT IS A 2 OWNER VEHICLE, MILES CORRECT, NO ACCIDENTS, NO RUST WEST COAST FLORIDA CAR, ALL CONFIRMED BY AUTOCHECK. IT SITS EXACTLY AS IT WAS TRADED IN...NO FANCY DETAILING. I PURCHASED IT TO DO SOME COSMETIC ITEMS TO IT AND KEEP. MECHANICALLY, IT IS REAL STRONG. I AM SELLING IT BECAUSE I HAVE TOO MANY PROJECTS AND NOT ENOUGH ROOM. IT DRIVES BEAUTIFULLY. IT HAS BEEN A NON SMOKERS CAR. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A 635CSI TO TINKER WITH AND DRIVE...THIS IS THE ONE. NO RUST, NO MECHANICAL ISSUES, JUST SOME COSMETIC ISSUES. THE FLORIDA SUN CAN BE BRUTAL SOMETIMES ON THESE OLDER CARS SINCE THEY HAD LITTLE OR NO SUN PROTECTION BUILT INTO THE GLASS. THIS BEAUTY NEEDS SOME DASH REPAIRS IN THE LEATHER, THE BOLSTER ON THE DRIVERS SEAT (L) NEEDS REPLACING AND THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR SPEAKER COVER NEEDS SOME DYEING ON THE COVER DUE TO SUN DISCOLORING, AND THE CENTER CONSOLE NEEDS SOME LEATHER REPAIR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE EXTERIOR PAINT IS IN GOOD SHAPE FOR ITS AGE WITH NO RUST, BUT THERE ARE SOME LITTLE NICS AND SCRATCHES...MOSTLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. MECHANICALLY, THE AIR IS ICE COLD, THE ENGINE RUNS OUT REAL STRONG WITH NO SMOKING AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SMOOTHLY AND EFFORTLESSLY. THIS CAR IS A DREAM TO DRIVE. THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON. THE DIGITAL TIME/TEMP ETC. READOUT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE TIRES/RIMS HAVE ALREADY BEEN SWITCHED OUT TO NON METRIC SIZES AND ARE IN GREAT SHAPE. THE CAR SITS AND LOOKS REAL NICE. THIS FINE VEHICLE IS BEING PRICED FOR WHAT I HAVE INTO IT.ANY QUESTIONS? PLEASE CALL NORM @ 941-961-3550. THANKS.

LA Design Challenge invokes biology for 2025 concepts [w/poll]
Wed, 13 Nov 2013Participants in the annual LA Design Challenge always manage to come up with edgy, wacky designs for future vehicles, but with a theme of "Biomimicry and Mobility: 2025" this year's crop of cars might be the quirkiest we've ever seen. As usual, automotive designers from around the world participated in this year's competition, and all the designs will all be unveiled next week during the LA Auto Show with a winner being announced on November 21.
Chinese automakers made a strong showing with Qoros, SAIC Motor, JAC Motors (the company responsible for the Ford F-150 clone) and Changfeng all bringing interesting takes on the biology, human intelligence and sustainability theme. One of the more innovative ideas among these automakers is the Qoros Silk Road System allows autonomous vehicles to drive in packs similar to how ants travel. Speaking of ants, the SAIC Motor Mobiliant (shown above) gets its design from the shape of an ant's body, and, like the insect, it can climb building acting as a personal elevator as well. The JAC Motors design also merges vehicle and building design, while the Changfeng LaBrea inspired by the design of muscle fibers.
Other entrants include Subaru and US-based design teams for BMW, Toyota and Mazda. BMW's duo of concepts mimic plant and animal life. The LA Subways concept acts as a submersible, single-person vehicle to take advantage of the LA river, with a shape similar to an Ocean Sunfish. The Sustainable Efficient Exploratory Device (SEED) imitates the shape of a seed pod, and uses propulsion methods inspired by a shark, dragonfly and a water bug. Mazda's Auto Adapt might be the most car-like concept of the bunch, while the Subaru Suba-Roo and the Calty-designed, Toyota e-grus are the most mind-blowingly awesome.
BMW's new strategy: Electric everything
Mon, Sep 12 2016Mercedes isn't the only car maker determined to beat Tesla before it gets huge. Sources speaking to German business daily Handelsblatt claim that BMW is in the midst of planning an executive shuffle that will also include a big shift in its electric vehicle strategy. While the company would still offer ground-up EV designs like the i3, the new strategy would greenlight electric versions of some of BMW's most important vehicles, including the 3-series sedan, X4 crossover, and iconic Mini. If the leak is accurate, management is likely to approve the change at the end of September. We've asked BMW for its take on the report, although it declined to comment to Handelsblatt. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Munich crew change tack, though. While Tesla has received hundreds of thousands of Model 3 pre-orders, i3 sales dropped in 2016 – the upscale (if oddly-shaped) EV just isn't as hot as it once was. If BMW electrifies some of its most popular cars, you wouldn't have to choose between a super-efficient, eco-friendly EV and the familiar designs of the brand's mainstream driving machines. The story originally appeared on Engadget, your guide to this connected life.Related Video: Featured Gallery Mini Vision Next 100 Concept View 38 Photos Green BMW MINI Electric Hybrid engadget
Recharge Wrap-up: Grimsel electric car breaks acceleration world record, electric Ford Raptor ATV debuts
Sun, Nov 16 2014An all-electric version of the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is now available... as an ATV. Made by Caddyshack Golf Cars, it features officially licensed Ford badging borrowed from the super-macho pickup. It has a lifted chassis with leaf springs in the front and rear, hydraulic shocks and off-road tires. Powered by a 48-volt motor, it can do 0-25 mph in 2.9 seconds. Range is an estimated 30 miles - plenty to get you through 18 of the most rugged holes of golf you've ever played. Caddyshack also offers other miniature electric Fords, including a Shelby GT500, Shelby Cobra and 50th Anniversary Mustang. Read more at Green Car Reports. Lexus takes a crack at the BMW i3 in a new video from Funny or Die. In the decidedly anti-EV film, a group of guys drives to Las Vegas for a "dad-chelor party" in a Lexus CT 200h and a BMW i3. The Lexus hybrid makes it to Sin City without any problems, while the BMW's occupants need to make several lengthy stops to charge along the way, missing much of the fun. The video lampoons the inherent range limitations of the EV (the BMW group ends up driving slowly through the desert with no AC or radio to save energy), all in a well produced, if somewhat misguided, short comedy film. Perhaps they should have considered the i3 with a range extender? See the video below, or read more at Green Car Reports. Students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University have set a new EV acceleration world record. Their "Grimsel" racing car was able to zoom from 0-100 kph (0-62.137 mph) in just 1.785 seconds in less than 30 meters (98.425 feet), crushing the previous record of 2.134 seconds. Even more impressive is that the Grimsel was built by the students themselves, as part of the Formula Student team at the Academic Motorsports Club Zurich. The car weighs just 370 pounds and provides 200 horsepower and 1,202 pound feet of torque from the four hub motors. The Grimsel uses traction control to manage torque for maximum acceleration. See the record acceleration run in the videos below or read more at Gizmag, at Electric Autosport or in the press release from ETH Zurich below. 'grimsel' breaks world record The 'grimsel' electric racing car today broke the previous world record for acceleration in electric cars. The vehicle accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.785 seconds in under 30 metres. The new record was set by students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, who also designed and built the vehicle.
