I am selling a 1985 BMW 524td. I am the second owner. All service has been done at Auto Europa in Phoenix. The previous owner and myself have been very meticulous in taking care of this vehicle. NADA vehicle guide gives this vehicle a High value of $6875, Low Value $3625 and an Average Value of $5050. I just saw one sell with lower miles on ebay for $8350. The vehicle is in excellent condition inside and out and runs amazing. The ac is freezing cold and the heater works. I hate to let this vehicle go.

I recently had the entire vehicle painted with high quality dupont paints and clear coat in 2011. It should last for years. I just had all the brakes and rotors replaced as well as a brand new battery an alternator, new tires, steering linkage, and had all the fluids changed. I have a list of other stuff I have done over the years that I can give you upon looking at the vehicle. Over all this vehicle runs extremely well and being a diesel the engine will last many more years.

I had a minor accident in 2011 and had to replace the front bumper and drivers fender. The exterior of the vehicle looks great and you could never tell. I have a clean and clear title. The interior looks amazing especially for the age of the vehicle. I always had sheep skin covers on the seats that I just took them off to sell. The arm rest have some tears in the leather and there is a small tear in the drivers seat. The odometer reads 211077 but stopped working at the end of 2008. I would guess that actual miles are around 240,000-250,000. I recently replaced the gears on the odometer and it works intermittently. The speedometer does the same. I believe there is a short or the speedo sensor needs replacement. This would be a great vehicle for anyone that loves these rare diesel BMW's (only 400 imported in the usa) or a great first car for a teenager. I tried to cover as much info as I could. Please email me with any questions. I have a carfax available. VIN #WBADB2402F0530638

On Dec-30-13 at 14:33:29 PST, seller added the following information:

The heater works great but only through the defrost vents. I think the blend door may need replacement. The paint is still in excellent condition except there is some chipping on the back windows chrome (as seen in pictures) and a some minor chipping on the drivers door trim.  I do have dark tint all the way around and the tail lights and blinker lights have been smoked. I do have the front fog lights but didn't install them. Like I said the car runs great but does leak oil like you would expect from a 1985 diesel, but nothing extreme. A small section of the carpet around the front speakers was cut out when I bought it (seen in pictures).

Are you the 2016 BMW M2?

Wed, 21 May 2014

From the looks of these spy shots, BMW is back testing the hotter version of the M235i, the M2. We first brought you pictures of the lightly disguised coupe a few weeks back. While those original shots were on the road, it would seem that BMW has transitioned its testing to the Nürburgring.
Here, we get a better look at the M2 prototype's M-spec wheels. This particular car is missing the traditional quadruple exhausts that serve as an easy identifier for BMW M products, although our spies report that the tips, along with a more assertive front fascia, will arrive when the M2 makes its production debut.
We can't yet confirm any powertrain details, but previous rumors had the M2 getting its go from a tuned version of the brand's N55 turbocharged inline-six. Take a look up top for this latest round of spy photos of the BMW M2.

BMW X4 order guide sneaks onto the web

Thu, 03 Apr 2014

Much like we gave you an early look at the ordering guide for the BMW M3 and M4 (you can now configure those two, as well), yet another list of BMW options has leaked out. This time, the upcoming X4 is the target. We told you last month that prices for the X3-sized, X6-shaped vehicle started at $45,625, and now, we can confirm everything else for the newest Bimmer.
Only two trim lines will be available when the X4 arrives - M Sport and xLine. The former starts at $2,300 for the xDrive28i model and $1,900 for the xDrive35i, and includes as standard, 19-inch wheels (or optional 20s for $950), sport seats, an M steering wheel, a more aggressive body kit, a black headliner and the option of brushed aluminum interior trim. The xLine is $1,500 for the 28i and $1,000 for the 35i, and is made up exclusively of 19-inch Y-spoke wheels and dark copper interior trim.
Metallic colors dominate the pallet, with just a pair of gloss options available alongside the $550 metal-flake colors. BMW offers a pair of SensaTec leatherette options, along side a wide variety of $1,450 leather trims.

Dealers mobilize to protect their margins from automaker subscription services

Fri, Aug 24 2018

Six individual auto brands — Lincoln, Cadillac, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and Volvo — have established or are trialing a vehicle subscription service in the U.S. Three third-party companies — Flexdrive, Clutch and Carma — run brand-agnostic subscription services. And three automakers — Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and General Motors — have also launched short-term rental services. Dealers, afraid of how these trends might affect their margins, are building political and lawmaking campaigns to protect their revenue streams. So far, three states are investigating automaker subscriptions, and Indiana has banned any such service until next year. It's certain that those three states are the first fronts in a long political and legal battle. Powerful dealer franchise laws mandate the existence of dealers and restrict how automakers are allowed to interact with customers to sell a vehicle. On top of that, Bob Reisner, CEO of Nassau Business Funding & Services, said, "Dealers and their associations are among the strongest political operators in many states. They as a group are difficult for state politicians to vote against." In California earlier this year, the state Assembly debated a bill with wide-ranging provisions to protect against what the California New Car Dealers Association called "inappropriate treatment of dealers by manufacturers." One of those provisions stipulated that subscription services need to go through dealers, but that item got stripped out when dealers and manufacturers agreed to discuss the matter further. In Indiana, Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a moratorium on all subscription programs by dealers or manufacturers until May 1, 2019, to give legislators more time to investigate. Dealers in New Jersey have taken their campaign to the state capitol, asking that the cars in subscription programs get a different classification for registration purposes. Automakers run the current subscription services and own the vehicles. Sign-ups and financial transactions happen online or through apps, leaving dealers to do little more than act as fulfillment centers to various degrees, with little legal recourse as to compensation amounts when they're called on to deliver or service a car. That's a bad base to build on for business owners who've sunk millions of dollars into their operations.
