Very Nice Classic BMW 530i. Engine Rebuilt with 3000 miles with all machine shop work done, bearings, new pistons/rings, all new timing chain/tensioners/guides, water pump, reconditioned head with valve job. New Old Stock Transmission with 1000 miles with reconditioned torque converter. Bilstein Shocks front and back. Rare Triple Weber Carburetor setup, Stahl Headers, MSD Ignition, Coil, Mallory Dual Point Centrifugal Advance distributor (not currently installed like new). Recent tires(4). Dual Cherry bomb Exhaust Pipes out side.
This car is a work in progress. After rebuilding the motor, installing 2 transmissions (first one was bad) I have yet to get to the fun part, getting the triple carburetors tuned to perfection. I believe they need jetted down a size or two (RedLine Weber Jet Kits) and I just have not been able to get to do that yet. The transmission was a New Old Stock Transmission I found on ebay. I sent the Torque Converter off and had it totally reconditioned with all new fluid/flush etc. I would like to change the exhaust back to a single muffler in the back as the side pipes are just too loud for me. The care starts right up and runs good. I have just run out of room to keep this car have to sell it. I am not trying to recover all the money I have put into this project, my loss is your gain. There are lots of extra parts including two extra transmissions that I believe could easily make one good one (I have new transmission gasket kit too) as the original transmission had a single spring break which made it fail (that one is in parts but all in Rubbermaid and 5 gallon buckets with all parts there. Then I still have the defective one I purchased from BavAuto and when it failed they told me to not send it back, it is complete. Replaced Gas Tank with very nice one rust free from Arizona after the one I had sprung a leak from rust - the new one is in perfect shape.
The Bad
Exhaust is loud. Carburetors need jetting, I never got to this after rebuilding the engine and replacing the transmission. Rip in Drivers Seat (see picture). Two plastic light filters hanging from speedometer/RPM gauges. AC Removed but was Factory AC. Headliner old. Sunroof works but one part is needing repair and current headliner is not fully attached until I get the new part to replace - needs some TLC to close fully but works. Electric Sunroof open and closes with manual help. Plastic part that is broken on one side should be easy enough to replace but finding one may take a while. The gas lid door is slightly bent from backing up with it open, it fits fine and works but could use some straightening out. Some paint missing. Some rust (was leaking in trunk around seal but put some JB Weld to build It back up. Drivers door bottom inside has some rust. Passengers side had rust hole but put new metal riveted in and a couple giant tubes of JB Weld to seal it in. Back windows do not work.
I drive the car regularly and really enjoy it.

BMW revises X1 to tide it over until replacement
Tue, 17 Dec 2013It's been over five years since BMW first introduced the X1 at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, and a bit over a year since it brought the compact crossover to these shores. Soon the Bavarian automaker will replace the X1 with a new model based on the company's new front-drive architecture, but not before it gives it a few updates to keep it fresh.
Set to be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show next month alongside the Z4 Pure Fusion Design and the new M3 sedan and M4 coupe, the enhanced X1 benefits from some new exterior accents, a spruced-up interior and new technology packed inside.
New air intakes in the bumper and integrated daytime driving lights distinguish the front end, with new wheel and color options available. Inside, certain versions get a new dashboard treatment, among other minor trim updates, and BMW has installed its latest ConnectedDrive suite to keep it up with the times. Scroll down for the full details.
Take a look at the shocking Rolls-Royce Next 100 concept
Thu, Jun 16 2016Rolls-Royce showed off its Vision Next 100 concept today in London, giving a look at what its vehicles might look like a century years from now. Each BMW brand will show its own concept this year; BMW's Vision Next 100 concept was an interesting mix of textile-like patterns with stretchy fenders and a very 2010s four-door coupe shape, but this Rolls-Royce concept looks more like a luxury version of a World Solar Challenge racer. The car's official title is 103EX, following the convention of recent Roller concepts. Whereas its BMW counterpart was perhaps a safe, predictable vision of the future, the Rolls is a striking vehicle and a big departure for the brand. Whether it works as a whole for you or not, it represents the kind of stylistic provocation that made ex-BMW stylist Chris Bangle a household name. While the early Bangle cars were extremely controversial, this Rolls concept is clearly the heir of his penchant for sharply creased character lines. Call the rocker panel crease flame surfacing if you want. The floating headlamps and blade-edged verticality of the fenders are classic Rolls: imposing and visually heavy, without necessarily being classically beautiful. The square, flat grille is, to my eyes, much less successfully integrated. It seems like Rolls had the perfect opportunity to evolve the trademark grille into something more contemporary. In 100 years, the brand will still need to lean on this sort of anachronism? That seems short-sighted. We'll have more on this concept from our man on the ground in London later today. BMW to follow Honda back into F1?
Mon, 14 Apr 2014The economic downturn wrought devastating effects on motor racing. Formula One alone lost half its engine suppliers when Honda left at the end of the 2008 season, and both BMW and Toyota followed at the end of 2009. But things are looking up again. Cosworth may have dropped out this season, reducing the engine suppliers to three: Ferrari, Renault and Mercedes, the latter of which admits that it may have left had the engine formula not changed. But Mercedes has stayed and is dominating the championship. Honda is coming back next season. And word around the paddock is it may not be the only one.
According to Giancarlo Minardi - founder of the team now known as Scuderia Toro Rosso - BMW engineers have been conspicuously spotted lately at F1 test sessions and grands prix, lending to speculation that the new engine regulations may entice the Bavarian automaker back into the series. According to Minardi, BMW's marketing division is pushing for the automaker's return to F1, with the board slated to make a decision in May. BMW would be more likely to consider an engine-supply deal rather than taking a team over like it had with Sauber, but with which team or teams it might collaborate remains a big question mark at this point.
As if that's not enough, Ford is said to be considering taking over Cosworth's aborted V6 turbo engine program to take both outfits back into the sport as well. Cosworth supplied F1 engines under the Ford banner for years, but returned under its own name for four seasons from 2010 through 2013 before shuttering its program to develop an engine to meet the new regulations adopted this season.
